  1. Went out a wee walk around the village with the dog tonight. Got this spooky feeling photograph on the grounds of a housing estate that once was. If that photo was taken a couple of years ago you wouldn't see it for 4-in-a-block flats.
  2. That depends on how much you have imbibed.
  3. I think you need a different garage.
  4. Do you think it would be cheeky of me to ask for some sort of refund for the fuel in the tank of an Octavia that I have part exchanged for a new Kodiaq, it’s about two thirds full of diesel and the Kodiaq is petrol. This situation must crop up regularly, I did get more than I was expecting for my old car.
  5. Frog goggles (froggles) I will shut the door on the way out 🤪
  6. i just went into one locally just to see what part of the exhaust was blowing and just curious on what they would quote me, being Holt in north norfolk,i wasn't expecting it to be cheap. But i couldn't believe it when he said i needed 4 new tyres, so i replied my car has passed all it's MOT'S with the tyres on due to the tread being legal and they haven't perished.
  7. Deleting fault codes has no effect on how the car runs.
  8. 2.0... took 'em like a king. If you're that attached to the car, then keep it and drive it as is. Use the savings for petrol, or for a "project" car.
  9. I'm afraid it's a total waste of time and money, you'll end up with what was a perfectly good car in bits that doesn't work any more, then you'll lose interest and buy something faster. So just cut out the stupid part, sell that car and buy a faster car.
  10. Honestly? It's probably not worth all that effort, and a better idea to swap for something quicker. But it's your own money to spend. Any ECU changes will need dash clusters etc IIRC. Additionally Marelli (also found on AUBs) ECUs cannot be remapped or flashed AFAIK. Mibbie no quite what you're looking for, but I hope that helps.
  11. Hello all All new, here! My name is Magnus and I am from France. Yes, not a typical French first name, I know haha! My parents are Swedes. I am 45 and have owned many cars in my life. And my newest is a 2014 Octavia, 1.8 TSI, French "Gendarmerie" blue (actually Pacific Blue) with 55 000 kilometers on it. It is in pretty good condition and I am very happy with it for now. I attached some pictures to this post. It is nothing special, just an Octavia, but I might as well show it to you :) I bought from Autohero - no idea if they operate in UK - it was a pretty good experience. I also want to thank you for maintaining this great forum, it is an excellent source of knowledge for new Skoda owners like me. I have a few questions that I will ask in the relevant section.
  12. A few years ago I bought this off eBay (it was brand new, still had all the plastic wrapping on it) and it had the best sound of any speaker setup I've ever owned. It was so loud it was fantastic! The bass was nuts but not over-bearing. Selling it on was one of my biggest regrets.
  13. According to the online configurator, this is the wheels you get on the SEL
  14. If the paint is not bubbling/peeling it will more than likely be a different shade nowadays to the rest of the doors as it'll be unfaded where the strips have been for 20years.

Of course, they all graduated the Marketing School "cum laudae"! Why publicly announce bad news, when you can simply omit that piece of info? That way they can't be accused of lying...

As with most things... the Skoda one is the Audi one from about 2 generations ago. The tech trickles down eventually... if you want the latest and greatest, go buy an Audi* but be prepared to pay for it. *actually, go buy a Merc S-Class... I laughed when Peugeot started advertising 'night vision' on their cars a couple of years ago - the S-Class had it about 20 years ago. There was a good Top Gear segment on it with JC saying "If you want to know what tech your car will have in 10 years, look at the S-Class of today" (or something along those lines). No idea if that still holds true to that extent... guess it depends on what you're comparing it with. </off-topic> Back to the topic - as everyone else has said, the VC is a factory fit option, and whilst it may be possible to retrofit one, no dealer is going to do it (unless completely unofficially!) and it would almost certainly invalidate the warranty, at least for anything you touch whilst doing it.
  17. good build but not very good off road discipline from any of the drivers ... not leaving enough space between cars , and when clearing an obstacle then stopping right at the top of a hill so the following car has no where to go if they get into trouble ... no 2 way radios for communication ..... and this is how accidents happen
  18. Got to collect my car today, an iV in L&K trim with massage seats and area view as extras. My first hybrid car, felt strange driving home on pure electric but a lovely comfy and silent drive. Been bad weather here all day, so no chance yet for some nice pics.
  19. Good news! Apparently "a plug" had become disconnected, and that was the issue. Guy in skoda said there is a plug which connects to the gearbox which controls the electrical functions (I personally wouldn't be familiar with it), but seemingly it became disconnected. He was quick to say his guys normally wouldn't remove it when doing the gearbox oil change, but it seems to much of coincidence to me, anyway sorted no charge.....so gotta be happy with what might have been 👍
  20. I think your frog has dropped his/her sunglasses
  21. Listening and watching, all too much and too fast for me, but now you've pointed it out and I've replayed it twice (can't watch both dials at once) yes I did see it, well both. Fair enough. Tell your Grampa you've been told to put a shilling in the meter. All the best for Saturday it'll be interesting to see what you find and what it turns out to be, good luck.
  22. I do seldom have a clunk in front and i cant find where it is, shop said car was in really good condition too. Maybe its time for me to change some of the now 14 year old bushes. thanks for the heads up! Anyone know what bushes can be changed with polyurethane ones without making the car harsh to drive?
  23. Little night shot, the steering wheel controls work the stereo but unfortunately doesn’t toggle the dash functions so I’ll need to experiment with that see if I can get some different buttons to work as I really don’t want to change the wheel, at least it looks good
  24. dealer phoned this week and now says car should be built now and on its way to Germany?? He will ring me next week for an update!!(dont know whats going on)
  25. @Lady ElanoreWhen you use public chargers you meet many with loads of money, all the gear and funnily no idea quite often. Amazing how many do so much research and run business's and know taxation and yet will not flash the cash to get a car charged, then there are those that know all the moves and how to do many miles with loads of smiles and huge savings over that when they run an ICE. I meet lots of high mile drivers in EV's that do deliveries with them over long distances daily and provide them for their staff as well. PS MY BAD> I never heard properly the *** "40 pence per hour"'*** So not much per hour. (Then he says later 40 pence per kWh) Charge the car for 10 hours if you are at home and have 5 hours of that at the Off Peak Tariff or just have the standard tariff, and get that home charger is, or your solar and battery storage. He asks, 'Who knows?' Well if Petrol or diesel is £7.25 a gallon and you get 45 MPG them you are £29 and going 180 miles.
  26. The old 1.9 had a similar issue starting when warm. To do with the starter not able to crank fast enough so the fueling system won't pump. Turn over once. Back off the ignition then crank again and it fires right up. Tried a refurbished starter, new battery, new crank speed sensor. The only thing that solved it was a remap randomly. Was happy to have it fixed but lived with it for circa 2 years.
  27. Detachable speakers. wow! The first thing I bought when I had my first proper job was a ghetto blaster, a Hitachi TRK 8290 (the link below is from a Boombox wiki, have fun ) Very similar to the one in the link below http://wikiboombox.com/tiki-index.php?page=Hitachi+TRK-8190
  28. Indeed, but needing brakes all the way down none the less. PS - I have driven 2 of those 3 as well. I have also (many years ago) driven coaches in the Swiss alps, on descents there you have to switch between telma retarders and brakes to avoid fade due to overheating.
  29. This is quite interesting. It's a bout winter range and also mentions heat pumps in some cars. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/move-electric/electric-vehicle-range-test-reveals-20-drop-winter
  30. You may end up damaging the old ones getting them off. When I had a set of door mouldings smoothed, painted and carbon dipped i had to start off with new mouldings as the old ones were ruined on removal.
  31. Yes, I had to take another rack on my account whilst the other one went back to Germany about about 3 months later received a credit but no explanation, not a word of apology or an offer the cover the expenses of replacement... not great service; ever since Bosch took over ZF Lenk system the backup service has disappeared. It is a purely hydraulic rack so I have no idea what had been assembled incorrectly inside at least I hope it was incorrect assembly as if that could randomly happen there are a lot of Golf 4's, Octavia 1U etc on the PQ34 platform out there with a potentially lethal fault.
  32. The OP ordered the Karoq SE L. The Kodiaq wheels in the link are not the ones he will get.
  33. I think Spivo is saying when a build slot comes up, retail purchases are prioritised over fleet/mobility therefore pretty much anyone not retail has been buggered and not made aware of this!
  34. Finally manage to code some stuff: Boost pressure Engine power and torque Engine oil and gearbox temperature now showing in display.
  35. Oh, by all means - don't cancel it! I'm guessing that your dealer has guaranteed the price from the day you ordered your Scala. I'm asking because I got it for the price I ordered it in September. Just a few days before I finally got my car, out of curiosity I checked what would the price be for the very same car if I ordered it that day. Well,it was around 3k EUR more expensive.
  36. Soooo??? How was your first week with the beauty…satisfied? Was it worth waiting? Hope everything is ok 😊 p.s. nothing new here…still without any possible date 🤷🏻‍♂️

So it fits the delivery estimation given on that webpage... it arrived even faster than estimated. The estimation is given for currently ordered cars - that's the time someone who orders now should wait for his car. However, that estimation dynamically changes depending on various factors (semiconductors, fire @factory, war etc.). Obviously, when you have a car on order (such as mine) already 7 months ago, and suddenly the delivery estimation increases from N-months to N+4 months, you can also expect your car to be delayed also, if it was not already in production when the cause of the delay occurred.
  38. @Gogul95 - when u say Front Assist Fuse - wat fuse location is this? i can't see anything in the dashboard fuse layout that refers to front assist. do u know if this fuse location is switched power or permanent power? most of us, including myself have used fuse location #47 - Rear window wiper. its switched power, so the dashcam will power on and off with the ignition.

I looked at doing it when I had mine but the buttons have a subtle bevel to one side. It then got into "too much effort" territory!

I have no info at all not a week, not an estimate if it will even be this year. Litteraly no info at all till date. From an estimate delivery oktober 2021 to no info at at all makes us decide not to go for a VW grp again as the next car.
  41. Yes but ☺️ so our friend must go ASAP to a car-electrician to save his engine from overheating and destruction.
  42. Attenborough Nature Reserve earlier this afternoon
  43. Hope you'll get some good news, and soon! 😁 Sretno prijatelju! 😁
  44. Car has been sold now. I would want to say thank you for your all support while i was a proud owner of Octy. take care !
  45. Hi! Maybe is the same noise ? video included https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/492614-knocking-sound-on-idle/?tab=comments#comment-5571184 seems to be resolved changing "valve of activated charcoal canister"
