  1. Couldn’t pass up the opportunity to put new wheels on when they came up. Given the temps are settling out of winter then it was time to get them on. (Yes the car needs a wash!)
  2. I suggest asking @JR RS. He has made this mod on his Gandalf Hulk 🤭...
  3. Repaired torn ribbon cable in the clock spring - well torn off connector at one end at least I thought I would get away with pulling the ribbon cable and connectors out of the clock spring module and googling for a replacement. But felt like the ‘car side’ plug was soldered onto the board… so did it in situ, bit of a pain, but got there in the end Next up is to try and change rear bearing (abs sensor issue) - though not quite sure what XZN spline is needed… believe it’s an M18.. (?)
  4. @mumpsim Yes it was all from Dashcam footage. The 14 day limit for getting a speeding ticket has now past too. When I compiled this post I made the decision not to mention anything about the who, why etc, as my sole reason fpor posting was to inform other owners. @JXR Bridgestone Turanza All Season , compared to the other All Seasons around these did well in the areas I was interested in wet roads, resistance to aquaplaning, noise,- I wasn't interested in Snow ability. They also have a good rim protector buffer. My brother has just put a set on his Yeti and got a 25,000 mile mileage life guarantee. I'm sure I replied with this a few days ago....... perhaps its in another unrelated thread looking out of place.
  5. New (to me) wheels. McLaren 570 super light options. 7.5kg which should translate to less inertia to change wheel speed. And they look ****ing lovely. And will be so easy to clean!

Hi Everyone, Noob user here, based in London. My name's Dave and I have a 'light blue' Skoda Octavia TSI called Elsa....it's THAT shade of blue and I have 2 girls....I had no choice in the matter.
  7. Hi all, Just an update, thanks to Breezy_Pete I’ve confirmed it is the right part for my 2016 Yeti. Number is printed at the bottom of the seatbelt where it anchors to the car. Hope this helps others and thanks again Breezy_Pete 👍🏻
  8. Front headlight indicators will never sweep (dynamic). Doesn't matter pre-facelift or facelift Superb. It just doesn't have the hardware for it. On the other hand, rear indicators on the taillights of the facelift Superb can do it.

  10. Vw Audi workshop on Woodbridge road. They’re brilliant but booked up months in advance.
  11. Thanks! Taking it to the VAG specialist to give it a good once over and hopefully catch up on the bits that have been missed in the past. Plan is to do all the servicing and work myself from then on.
  12. Removed the rest of the locking wheel bolts and replaced with standard. Managed to source the key from Amazon by matching the shape of the bold head with the pictures. Shows how pointless they really are for OEM locking bolts with OEM wheels! Also ordered an actuator to try to repair the AC diverter issue.
  13. Rim protection is now usual on quality tyres of 50 profile or lower. But one does still need to check. Thr budget generics often lack it, but there are also exceptions from the better brands, even among ultra-low profiles tyres. For example, the Uniroyal RainSport 3 275/40R20 and the Michelin Primacy 4ST variants in low profiles lack rim protection. Descriptors such as FP, RFP, FR, MFS, or FSL mean that rim protection is present.
  14. I've realised you do need a long drive of several miles for the settings to fully calibrate so I've ended up with these values: Fingers crossed this will not creep up to the +/- 0.80 value which appears to be the threshold max.
  15. We have the Turanza All Season 6 on our Karoq and they still have loads of life left after 20,000 miles. 25,000 should be easy. And the ride comfort, unexpectedly, seems better than it was when the tyres were new. On another car I have the Pirelli Cinturato All-Season SF3 which is a more recent design and usually now beats the Turanza in the objective tests, though not by very much. I'd probably choose that to replace the Turanzas, though road noise on the particular car I have them on is not good. Any casual readers should note that the Turanza All Season 6 is as unlike the Turanza T005 summer tyre as it possibly could be. The T005 is what many Karoqs get at the factory and it's one of the nastiest tyres around from the premium brands.
  16. The rears moved to the front can be mis-shaped from being on the rear. They might well be worn out soon. So what are the old tyres, size, brand, model. & what are the new rears? No matter all the experts, internet opinions etc etc there is no way i put the new tyres on as rears, (on a FWD car.) especially if they are the originals the car came with and are years old, even if only 3 years old. ?? Are the rears that you have, now fronts the tyres from 2019, or even manufactured 2018?
  17. I like those on the car, nice one
  18. Being a petrol it has not got a DPF, it is a GPF which regens / cleans in a different way. So off the accelerator. Once hot and running along. Did it actually use 4.56 litres in less than 21 miles or is that what the dash shows?
  19. While the front wheel was off I had a go at rotating the spring. It turned easier than I imagined, because the hub was hanging free. Will see what it’s like when manoeuvring. Fingers crossed!

Is there such a thing as dsg reset ?

I have the DQ200 tried the 30second hold accelerator down and no difference at all thanks for your advice 👍
  22. Check any vaccum lines to turbo and also if the actuator is moving freely. My old 1.9tdi actuator was sticking and used to over boost then limp mode. P0299 is underboost so wonder if its sticking open randomly. I lubricated mine and moved manually for a good while till it became smooth again. I think theres a sensor on yours that may be failing or perhaps wiring to it. The turbo may be a variable vein type and they can get carboned up and stick causing the same symptoms. Also check your air filter. Alasdair
  23. Fantastic savings at home charging are neither here nor there for us paying from our own income to public charge at whatever tariff the chargers are at and go to. & a 15% VAT reduction is not going to really make much difference. Well not to those that bother about things, and real pence per mile. Anyway, Stay Calm and keep on rolling', it could be worse it could be the start of winter not the end. WWIII is averted, because the USA holds all the cards. Well they thought they did!

It is not just a 30 second press of the accelerator. But say what DSG you have. & best not mess about if there are issues. Get a proper reset with the car plugged in. As to the DQ200 DSG,s earlier than recent ones, there is 'Dynamic Driving'. Really the DQ200 can LEARN. Especially some sales car that has been going no place far for weeks. Or a car your friend / partner, anyone drove then feels crap.

Very recently I posted the same topic. Many people were skeptic and have told me it is only possible by "special OBD gear". I have tried a couple of the videos on YouTube as well. None of them worked.

It can with some DSG of different eras. DQ200,s. The thing is if you have a car, then try it and tell us if you notice any difference.
  27. It is a very ickle decrease in the gas tariff. But mony a mickle maks a muckle. The thing is my heating is now off totally till maybe September or even October. Next winter maybe OK with my fixed tariff, just as long as the provider can actually keep the Gas flowing and the electricity on...
  28. Your findings are at odds with almost everything else, where the cost of electricity is expected to rise by about 15% or more in July 2026, driven largely by the ongoing war in Iran. Donald Trump's US-Iran war has caused oil prices to surge. Will it make electricity more expensive, too? We're number one... in unaffordable electricity — Institute of Economic Affairs
  29. I have one on my 2016 1.4 TSI Combi. I'd to scan the V5 which satisfied the criteria. Only a low quality scan was accepted.
  30. Thanks Kenny, That's exactly what mine is doing, so I won't worry about it. Just as an aside, I am struggling to understand the logic of Skoda engineers, where the fog light symbols go orange when the fog lights are on, the side light symbols go green but the headlight indicators don't change. That's what sent me down the rabbit hole of investigating if the "bulb" had blown. I don't normally drive with the infotainment on (happy with the company of Mrs P next to me) so I'll just continue to trust that the car is doing it's thing! Thanks again for the reassurance. Regards John
  31. @lol-lol Where you get your prices to quote i have no idea. My Eon next Day tariff is going from 32.71 pence a kWh to 29.27 If the 9.5 pence night goes down to 7.12 pence a kWh that will be wunderba.
  32. That's incorrect. See my post above.
  33. Thanks Trav, that's really helpful. Nothing worse than chasing a fault that isn't one! Regards John

No, more like £150-£200 plus 5 minutes coding the battery management system.

  37. @JR RS I fear Gandalf doesn't still suit anymore. IMHO, Hulk would be more appropriate, now. 😁 ~400BHP. Wooo... I assume you don't need hair comb in the morning anymore. Just sit in the car, press right pedal: Hair dress fixed! 🤣
  38. Hey guys, This problem was finally fixed by the dealership, just wanted to share an update in case it helps someone else going through the same issue. So, as I said in the original post, I’ve been dealing for a while with a problem on my Škoda Kamiq 1.0 TSI DSG where the Start/Stop would activate, the engine would shut down, and then immediately restart (almost instantly). Car stops → Start/Stop activates Engine shuts down Engine restarts immediately (almost instantly) No warnings, no error messages Happens every single time, even with engine warm and no electrical load The dealeship went through a long diagnostic process, replacing the 12v (2 times) and auxiliary battery, to no avail. After getting to the point where they have to ask Skoda for info and ONE MONTH later, the issue was finally resolved. I didn’t get a detailed technical explanation (typical…), but based on what was being investigated and how the system behaved, the most likely cause was related to the vacuum system. Modern engines rely on vacuum (especially for brake assist). When the engine shuts down, the system checks if vacuum is stable. If there’s a leak or instability (e.g. vacuum hose / check valve), the car can: shut the engine off detect vacuum drop immediately restart the engine Ask your workshop to check the vacuum system early in the process! This might save you a lot of time, instead of going through batteries and basic checks first (like I did). Hope this helps someone 👍 (and sorry for the GPT assisted post)
  39. The market is without a doubt being turbocharged by taxation assistance. I know a lot of EV owners and none of them have any particular aversion to ICE cars. They have EVs for tax purposes/running costs only. In fact I don't think any EV owner I know actually has bought one with their own money, all are company cars/salary sacrifice. Just noticed that EVs only had 24.2% market share in new registrations for February. The second consecutive month where it's behind last years numbers (25.3% in February 2025). A LOT of catching up to do to meet the 33% target this year.
  40. Currently on Sorn over winter, but will tax it for 1st April and get stuck back into it. Next job is to get the wiring done for some of the police equipment
  41. Consumption was based on the dash numbers - I don't take them as accurate day to day, but when they drop suddenly to the sort of numbers highlighted I see that as a red flag. Skoda assist came out and found no error codes etc. His theory was that it was / is an OPC (as he called it) regen. I didn't even realise the petrol engines did this. I was quite used to it in my previous diesel superb. I'm a bit sceptical, but we'll see what the next couple of days bring....
  42. You've posted this is the wrong forum mate, this is the MK4 forum, there is a MK3 forum you should post it there
