  1. The Golf's now just behind the Volvo - I missed its 46K last week on the way up to Norwich 🙄: Gaz

Hi there, thank you for accepting me. Its great to find an old school forum for the skoda. Just bought a mk2 Kodiaq Sel 2.0d 150 back in September so its a 2026. Loving it! Sold my 2014 mk7 golf in 2021, went to a focus estate, biggest mistake of my life! Glad im back in the VAG family. Looking forward to getting to know the community. Catch you soon.
  3. It's now done 31K miles, and the plugs and coils were replaced in April this year during a full service at ~29K miles following a slight misfire, as was the air filter. The car is a 2019 2.0 TSI SE L. I don't know what happened Gaz, but the issue seems to have gone away for the time being, though it still seems a little thirstier than previously, but nothing that I couldn't put down to a change of driving style. Last tank mpg was about 44 overall, which is fairly typical. The 50 MPG figures are only when I'm on a long run or am deliberately driving for economy. I've just checked it (without having reset my BST clock yet. 🙄) and a motorway run I did today was just over 50mpg, which is normal for it. So I have no idea what it was up to for that brief drop in MPG, but obviously I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the feedback, gents. 👍

I went hunting for dash rattles today. To remove centre speaker grill. Prize edge towards rear of the car up with trim tools in a few places along the edge. Then rotate this back edge upwards. To refit, pop up the rear edge of the vent cover a bit first so the grill can go back down vertically. Then vent cover going back down secures it in place. Pretty certain most of my rattle comes from where these two pieces fit together. I fitted some 1.5mm thick draught excluder to all flat surfaces and the back edge of the grill. Seems to have quietened down some of the rattle. With the vents you don’t need a special tool. The bottom edge pops out easy enough with a trim tool. Top edge took some more persuasion using a thin metal shim but once it was out I realised there was 4 sprung plastic grips. I think you could be strategic with a thin metal shim in these places to release it. Nothing in this area looked to be loose but I put some draught excluder on a couple of flat contact points anyway. Lastly popped the screen off with release tools and added some draught excluder next to where the clips hold it in and the top edge where it contacts the trim. Quick drive and it hasn’t eliminated all the 2k rpm rattle but certainly quietened it a bit.
  5. Hi everyone! Last month, I bought a used Nov 2023 Superb L&K 2L TSI - loving it so far! My previous cars were a 2014 Fiesta ST, then a 2021 A-Class, so this is a very different car, and very welcomed! I'm excited to learn more about my car, and potentially do some subtle tweaks/upgrades. I'm now all about comfort and style - I think I found the right car!
  6. Welcome Graham 1874 Wow that’s a step change in size from your previous. Makes my Octavia estate look underfed ;) Both good lookers though! Sure you’ll find tips from those in the know on this site.
  7. The way it's been raining, I'd suspect it's just the scuttle not draining the water out as fast as it's been coming in. The rough way of looking is pour half a bucket of water down that side of the scuttle and see if it comes out inside the car, or just at the bottom of the wing behind the wheel. I'm not particularly familiar with the Superb, but on the Octavia (and a lot of modern VAG cars), you can unbolt the panel at the front of the scuttle for access rather than strip the wipers off. If it helps you see how it goes together, the panel is often painted black as opposed to body colour. Normally on VAG cars, there's a drain hole at each end of the scuttle to channel water down the inside of the wing. It's normally oval and about big enough to get your thumb stuck in. If you do want to take the wipers off, you can get puller tools. Mine's a Sealey VS806, but you can get similar ones in no-name. Give the spindles a good spray the night before and they should come off fairly easily with the right tool. If you're taking the arch liner out, just have a good look for a built up of road grime/dried mud, give it a sweep out and have a look corrosion hidden by the build up. Superb's don't normally rust though, so I'd go in fairly confident that it's nothing bad.

Thanks for the welcome to BRISKODA First time Škoder owner! 😁 Recent owner of a Škoda Octavia vRS 2.0 tfsi Mk3, looking for upgrade/improvement advice and help with a few ongoing issues. And if I can pass on any knowledge gained from the members of what looks to be a great forum, then all the better. Kind regards
  11. ah, seems these HEROs have the vague guide I need! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRWqAoYIfCI
  12. App doesn't offer this functionality on older mk 4's, mine from 2020/21 isn't supported
  13. So I’m trading in my 2014 MK2 Skoda Fabia 1.2 TSi For a 2018 MK3 Superb Estate Sportline 1.5TSi 150 Fancied a bigger car from the fabia, didn’t want Octavia’s like most upgrade to, and always fancied an estate! I absolutely love the interior on it (unsure if my buckets are heated) And there’s about 5000 toys I’m going to need to get used to! Do plan some mods Aftermarket wheels Remap And workout best way to lower it. Honestly I can’t wait now Show me your estates 👌
  14. I believe the feature is to prevent the wipers catching on the hood lip when it's open.
  15. I doubt it. They didn’t do them for RHD. I guess it’s similar concept but just using battery power.
  16. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! Really glad to hear that replacing the master cylinder seems to have fixed your son's problem! I'm thinking of replacing both the master and slave cylinders on mine, just to be on the safe side. Hopefully that will sort out my issue too! Fingers crossed! 🤞 Thanks again, and I hope your son's Scala stays trouble-free!
  17. Did my first bit of servicing on the car today. The forecast was for 0% chance of rain for the duration of the afternoon. It started raining intermittently when I was stuck into the job. 🙄 The oil change was easy enough. Although it would be better if they had a hatch for the sump plug in the undertray, BMW style, instead of having to take the undertray off. And if the oil filter were at the top of the engine, instead of the bottom. And in a housing for accurate torque setting (with my tools) instead of an old school metal cannister type that I tightened as much as I could by hand with my lacklustre hand-grip and fore-arm strength. I tightened the sump plug to 25 NM. And the undertray screws by hand feel to a gentle torque, due to the rusty nature of the clips they screw into. The cabin filter wasn't too bad to change. A torch was handy for getting the cover back on. And I nearly lost one of the slidey retainer clippy-things as I didn't realise that these just fall off, if you're carrying the black L-shaped cabin filter cover around. The old cabin filter looked fairly clean. Which is a good sign of previous maintenance. The air filter. Whoever designed the air filter on these, should hang their head in shame. It's like they gave the design job to the work-experience child that had never changed an air filter themselves. Every other car I've owned has been a 1 to 5 minute job to change the air filter. Thanks to a clip on filter box lid, with the clips being easily accessible. On the 1.4 TDi the lid is screwed on. From the bottom. With 2 screws in the middle of the lid, coming up from the bottom. So the whole air filter box has to be removed from the car to change the filter! It would have been simplicity itself to design it so the screws could be removed from the top. Or to use clips instead. Most of the T20 screw had partially rounded-off heads from previous mechanics. Requiring the use of my son to hold the box whilst I put as much vertical pressure as I could to crack the screws, as well as a spray of penetrating oil. The fuel filter defeated me. Thanks to the air filter taking longer than expected. As well as me not being able to quickly remove the 2 hoses from the fuel filter. There must be some knack to removing these? I will revisit the fuel filter in a few days. I also noticed that the old fuel filter hadn't been clipped into place properly. Not a big deal, as it's not going anywhere. But a minor sign of lazy previous mechanicing. On top of that I discovered that my Launch 919x diagnostics tablet that I bought 3 and half years ago can no longer do service functions, such as resetting the oil change interval or purging the fuel system. It can still read and clear fault codes. I hate paying subscriptions for things like this. So I've ordered a brand new Mucar 829BT tablet (with no subscription and lifetime free updates) from Joybuy for £129.99... The 4 x filters (all Mann) plus a new sump plug cost me £71.80 from GSF. I used about 3.8 litres of oil from my £105 TripleQX 20 litre cannister of VW 507.
  18. Hi, new to the forum, but I have been lurking for a while. My parents decided to get a new car when the Opel Corsa couldn't hold all our stuff for a driving holiday. I was about 4 or 5 then. The got a used Skoda Fabia estate MK1. They liked it so much that when Skoda announced MK2 and they didn't like the look of that they jumped on getting a new MK1. The only thing wrong with that was the colour. It was way too dark than what we actually wanted when ordering it. That eventually became the car I learned to drive on. In the midst of getting my lisence, my parents bought a new MK3 Fabia Estate. This is now my car, and I love it. Best regards, Chris
  19. Hi everyone! Greetings from France! I'm the owner of a 2001 Škoda Fabia Mk1 (6Y) Classic, and I enjoy maintaining it and carrying out OEM-style retrofits. I'm particularly interested in the electrical systems, factory wiring and adding original equipment that wasn't fitted to the car when new. I've already found some very useful technical discussions here, so I decided to join the community. Looking forward to learning from other Fabia owners and sharing my progress! Cheers!
  20. I've yet to see a stock TDI vRS. Go and see Darkside. If you're googling stuff - you're looking at the GTD. The EA288 tunes nicely.
  21. Welcome to the forum. Your concerns about the DSG would tend to suggest it's a wise decision to leave it. Sounds expensive too, if exterior condition is as you describe - also a little odd given the interior condition.

Hi all, just saying hello from the south coast. Not a Skoda owner, but might be on the way to it as I'm looking to replace my current car and a Skoda could be on the cards! Hoping to get some technical advice and tips on what to look for.
