Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but I've found you can do a limited amount of customisation of the "Home" screen on the Columbus unit. You can't change the big map panel on the left, but the 2 smaller panels on the right can be changed to show different things. Mine was configured as telephone on top and media underneath, but you can change these to vehicle data, driving data, navigation etc. To make the change you have to press and hold the small icon in the top left corner of the small panel ("A" in the diagram). After a few seconds it will present you with a list of options. Its all in the manual of course, p132 in the UK version.5 points

These two had a foam, rinse, clay, rinse, plastic treatment, polish and wax the other day. Also an underbody clean with my new toy Karcher washy whizzer and a wax, and a wheel seal. I even removed a good chunk of the kids detritus from the inside which was 'fun'. This might be 'peak clean' for both of them, I was knackered and kept repeating 'never again' as I was doing it.4 points

A few vintage ones from me, as I don't think you can beat Black Magic for reflections! Bit scary that this was nearly 10yrs ago though And this shot was done mid-detail, only upto glaze stage So I've never really bought the 'black is really difficult to keep clean' excuse. It's all in the prep and detail3 points

So it's time to sell my g/f's beloved Limited Edition Fabia. This has been an absolute gem of a car and will provide a lot driving pleasure for someone new. It's been a superb little motor that has been everything we hoped it would be - fun to drive, fast, reliable and pretty economical for a speedy little machine. We've owned it since 2011 and have looked after it very well - it has a FSH (with all garage receipts) and if you're interested (quite possibly not!) there's also a record of MOTs as well. The leather interior is in good condition for its age and it's not been modified apart from the following: Cupra splitter on the front JVC head unit with iPhone integration and Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free calling and music playback (JVC KD-R821BT) Other than that, it's absolutely as it's always been (no remaps or mods). It has two working keys along with all the original documentation and I'll also throw in the original Skoda Stream head unit if you want it as well. Electric front windows, electric door mirrors, cruise control, full size spare wheel with all tools. Current mileage is 91,500. The bodywork is in very good condition (as you can hopefully tell from the pics) with the only things to mention being the inevitable stone chips as well as a slight scuff on the rear offside bumper where someone clipped it in a car park (needless to say, they drove off without leaving details!) - it's not hugely noticeable though (see pic). The alloys were refurbed in 2014 but could do with a bit of TLC. It has 12 months MOT (was MOT'd 3 weeks ago) and it will be serviced before being finally sold (booked in for Monday 18th June). The cam belt and water pump were changed just after we got it (2011) so could probably do with being replaced at some point in the not too distant future. £3,500 Car is based in Sale (Manchester). Feel free to get in touch with questions etc. Will be going on AutoTrader soon but wanted to see if anyone on here wanted first dibs.2 points

I test drove the 2.0 and the 1.4 petrol. I would choose the 2.0 personally for the extra power. The Kodiaq is a big car which benefits from more power and torque. This is not about overtaking and driving like a goon but real world drivability. Despite previous comments on this forum there is no substitute for cubic capacity, period .. even in this day of downsizing with forced induction. Emissions are undoubtedly met but with other compromises. I chose my car based on what I wanted and did not consider the increased cost in purchase price or running costs. I am not intending my comment to be rude, just honest. We all have different criteria when buying a car.2 points

We often leave our car for this long, we use the citigo for journeys of less than 60 miles. All that concerns me is that it will start when I need it to. It has never let me down yet. There was one occasion where I left the rear facing crash cam plugged in and I got a warning on the Maxidot that battery was low. Car still started - have now fixed cigarette sockets so that they are switched with the ignition.2 points

If it was a new engine and the housing wasn't covered in oil yet and nobody thought to put a dab of oil on the 'o' ring, that could be why its tough to remove.1 point
-
And don't forget, it's a safety thing aimed at keeping you safe! It would be unwise and probably illegal to tamper with it. I suspect the ecu would throw up a major fault error code if somehow you managed to remove it and it would put you in limp mode!1 point

I spoke to skoda uk and they said the only goodwill is from the dealer. I asked the dealer for more goodwill bearing in mind that my dads octavia is from there and so is my girlfriends fabia and he said 30% was the best he could do. My opinion of skoda has taken a beating if im honest1 point
-
3 months out of warranty? The car was in a main dealer to have several hundred pounds of other routine servicing done? 100% goodwill is required, especially so given it's a known fault. When did you first notice the leak? Contact Skoda UK and ask them to open a case... http://www.skoda.co.uk/about-us/contact-us £1,200 for a repair on a non wear and tear part on a 3 year old car? Unacceptable.1 point

remember if their lips move they are lying...……..a month long factory shutdown is planned well in advance and would have been factored in when build week is given1 point

Disable start/stop - with a DSG it just tries to kill you at every junction Enable rear side lights with DRLs - why would I not want people behind to see me as well Tune the engine to give the extra 70HP it's capable of Driver seat which goes lower Reduce throttle lag 2 rear fog lights - I know the arguments on both sides but personally I believe more light is better when visibility is poor (I know most of this can be fixed by various means)1 point

Probably not entirely, assuming that testing shows that it does give some positive output current, and never consumes any. I had one years and years ago, measured its output at about 10 or 11mA max, in sunlight behind the windscreen, against a claimed 1.5W (which is closer to 100mA by my maths). So not going to cancel out the quiescent draw of the car, but it will reduce/offset it, and so slow down the discharge rate. I didn't bother moving it across to my next car...1 point

Via CarWow I've just purchased a new 220 tsi se-l estate with a few extras inc. metallic for just over £24600 all in. The same spec in the base 220d merc e-class was coming in around £34500. I don't think there's anything out there that can touch the superb I've just bought, for similar cash.1 point

Nope. It's a kickdown switch effectively, as @ettlz said. The click doesn't actually do anything regarding power output. It's just that the computer needs a way of telling if you're overriding the speed limiter.1 point

Also, these are drive by wire, where I would assume the Fiesta was a cable operated accelerator. Might feel a little different.1 point

I would start by checking the wiring that goes between the body and the drivers door. Sounds like you could have a broken wire or 2 in the loom1 point
-
hi do you still have the headlight covers? i might be interested in hand brake cables too if they will fit my early preface as doing a disc conversion to it.1 point
-
If the sensor cable is not connected, then cut the cable off. Tying or taping it up is dangerous if it gets loose and caught up in the rotating bits.1 point

Do you hear the fuel pump priming when you open the drivers door? You should hear a high pitched whine from the rear seats of the car. If not, it could potentially be the fuel pump relay 409 located under your steering wheel. You should also check your fuse panel for fuse 43 just incase ots blown. Probs best to find a local briski whos willing to help you out and you can try his/her relay to see if thats your starting issue. If it doesnt make a difference, then it could be your actual fuel pump. Could be the explaination for theottle hesitation? Good luck sourcing the issue.1 point

Slightly monumental moment last night, I got the car back on its wheels for the first time in nearly 2 years, bled the brakes for the first time and moved all the crap from round it. Suffice to say it’s a bit dirty on top!! Engine and gearbox will be going in next then lots of replumbing and trying to remember where all the bolts are etc1 point

Have a check of the throttle pdeal itself. It's not uncommon for water to find it's way through the bulk head and drip onto the plug on top of the pedal and cause corrosion to the connection. If it gets really bad the EPC light generally becomes illuminated on the dash. It's a little akward to get to but the pedal can be removed and replaced without too much hassle.1 point

@Bignij @Wet Kipper - Any time I've met a "mock chop" it's been the thing more usually referred to as a "grill steak" (like a beefburger, but shaped like a chop) battered and deep fried.1 point

I've never heard of it, but I Googled: Not to be confused with a King Rib:1 point

No it is long wise haggis and blackpudding / layered. Even 'Blaggis Pie' from Galloway. Very special. 'Staggis Pie'. Steak & Haggis. Google is your friend or google images. mac11irl, next time you are on the A77 and held up at the harbour mini roundabout in Girvan just go left and park and visit Graziano's chip shop. They have Spicy Haggis as well. ** Go left 1 or 2 streets before the harbour as you come from the ferry, so miss the few hundred yards of stop / start traffic and go along the front and park outside the chippy.** see 'tripadvisor', wonderful fresh fish, 'much cheapness'. Or the other end of town as you come in, Steve's cafe / hut at the car park. Where the HGV's, bikes, campers, cars etc are. Homemade soup, Stovies etc. How is this for a Rhubarb pie? just grows at the bottom of your garden, some sugar and sorted, or flour, butter, water and sugar, best 'Fusion' food there is. Special treat is Rhubarb Crumble, same ingredients may also apple or ginger or both. Maybe i will try battered and deep fried.1 point

Hi Rab-k, The photos above show the Skoda Octavia Mk III 5E mudflaps fitted to my Skoda Octavia Scout Mk III, and they will fit with holes relocated. So far I've found that they reduce the mud thrown onto the lower black cladding behind the wheelarches, as you would expect, so I think they are worth doing. I found my genuine Skoda mudflaps on Ebay for around half the dealer price. I'm now thinking about fitting mudflaps to our Fabia III hatchback although this does far less miles.1 point

Take extra care with black alloys, they tend to show up more srcatches from wheel brushes then silver wheels1 point
