  1. Same with mine, which is bog stock; reads 88C all tank long once it's at temperature.
  2. Also @Lorrigirl29 - That's what I was afraid of, because it's a gearbox out job to replace the slave cylinder, and that means hoists and the like to support the engine and remove the gearbox. If you have to ask, even if you have the skills you probably don't have the tools. When they're in there anyway, ask a trusted mechanic to report on the clutch and flywheel before reassembling..
  3. I think it's more likely to be the master or slave cylinder. I can't say which from 200 miles away though.
  4. Where is "oop North"? It's potentially relevant to UrbanPanzer's limescale theory.
  5. It might be one or more dry bushes, maybe even subframe bushes or engine mounts. Try adding a few drops of brake fluid (used is fine here) to bushes, one at a time until you find the offending bush. Start with ones that haven't been replaced by the parts cannon.
  6. So you haven't checked any of:- The handbrake on sensor The brake pedal/light switch The ABS sensors?
  7. @GreenlineIIEstate @Benjybobs Look for the lane enforce state memory widget on AliExpress.
  8. Bushes, not just damper and suspension arm but front subframe, and rear suspension?
  9. @coley8978 People have helped themselves into perma-blocks.
  10. I'm thinking battery or wheel sensor too. Deep load test for the battery, and VCDS or OBD11 to read fault codes.
  11. 6 of the most expensive words in car ownership!! Read the relevant insurance contract properly for yourself.
  12. - Kind of said as much, sight unseen. My upper pipe that popped was reconnected using genuine Terry Jubilee clips (accept no substitutes, especially not VAG spring clips) and has stayed together ever since.
  13. Er, this was a thing for best results on the 1.9 TDi engines back in the mid-1990s.
  14. It's making me wonder if a CV joint is dying; absolutely get the car to a competent local garage. OTOH it could be the steering column; different fault but same advice.
  15. Only by buying a different car. HTH.
  16. No; I was using an indy specialist rather than a Main Stealer by the time the car was 8 years old.
  17. That was exactly my argument too, but apparently we're both"wrong because Marky says so".
  18. Ah, that may give you a rear end sag, based on actual experience.
  19. There are other questions too, like what sorts of tyre pressures you're running?
  20. Map application says Portsoy is about 32 miles, 45 minutes from Maud. Victoria Garage come actively recommended.
  21. @dan4280 - I suspect that @kentphil1 is correct here, but we can't prove any of this except the high rake statement without access to the vehicle, which only you have.
  22. Twice, both times when about to penetrate a roadside fire smoke cloud.
  23. Not sure if Pistons and Components actually have an on-line presence, although they do have an actual meatspace shop in Glasgow, about 15 miles from me.
  24. A bolt factor. As you omit to say where you live, I can't advise you further than that.
