  1. Or not. The cars were originally partially hand-built on a dedicated line.
  2. Correctamungus! Standard VAG window switches are built into the armrests on the doors.
  3. Why particularly? This used to be the normal way of distributing software, due to the need to supply the user with 10s or even 100s of MB of compiled code in order for them to install $package on their machine.
  4. Where do these losses actually occur? If they do occur at all that is.
  5. It's a specific gravity tester; exactly what it looks like depends on your budget.
  6. Well, there is at least part of your answer. E10 (10% alcohols) has a lower calorific value than E5, so you burn more of it to go unit distance.
  7. Which just proves that EurokNeeCAP is not actually fit for purpose.
  8. Black smoke from a turbo is usually rich running.
  9. Further worked example using Benbecula. Population ~2_000, vehicles ~1_000, total public chargers 4. Fuel pumps 8, and even if someone's at each pump at your chosen forecourt they'll be moving in ~10 minutes tops.
  10. Does that include car parks "remote from the property" like I had in the Western Isles in the 40%? There was no, repeat no way to charge an EV at that location without running a charging cable across a public road, footway or both. My neighbour who had a Nissan Leaf had to resort to parking on the footway (illegal in itself), and running a cable across the footway and through her living room window. And, for the benefit of the English, Chargemap shows exactly 2 chargers within walking distance, both at the local hospital.
  11. That's usually low oil level. Check on the dipstick, but I think you'll find the oil level is down around the bottom mark.
  12. OK. 1 - Question. What revolutions does the engine have at 60 to 70 mph? 2 - You shouldn't actually use full lock, back the steering off maybe 10 degrees and see if the PAS quietens. 1, 3 and 4 - Is the clutch slipping? You've given me an impression that it may be from these. 4 - If you're actually getting tyre slip, there's something badly wrong with the traction control.
  13. OK, O/T but this looks like a cross between an Opel Manta 400 and a Firenza droop snoot. Which is no bad thing.
  14. Pretty sure it's the same block and head, but make sure you keep all the Skoda auxiliaries until you're finished and have the new engine in the car and running.
  15. Compared with a V@*xh@11, for sure. Compared with a pure hydraulic PAS Citroen, not so much. As to the lack of power, I'm fairly sure you have a chocked EGR. A good mechanic (so not a Skoda main stealer "technician" then) would have ideas for how to clean it out.
  16. Ah, I don't read manufacturers' brochures that often. Even if I did I'd still probably use the more generic term.
  17. No. It's even a frequently removed part on cars that have a 1.8T as standard.
  18. Ok, that rules out one possible idea. You seem to have covered most of the others except for faulty assembly.
  19. Well, if that were correct, then you'd either be running neat antifreeze or your engine would be frozen solid.
  20. Step for a hint - What diameter are the front brake discs?
  21. At least 80% transmittance unless you're actually asking about rear privacy glass.
  22. They do keep the centre plates clean(er).
