  1. It was in a silicone key cover which I think is why it survived the daily 30° wash & spin cycle.
  2. If you're out of warranty then you're probably going to have to pay for the upgrade, but it'll be done by the book and if it goes wrong then they'll have to put it right at their own expense. If you do a firmware/software update yourself and it goes wrong then you have to foot the repair bill yourself.
  3. Maybe you have had a duff download in the meanwhile.
  4. Glad that it has solved your problems, hopefully that's should be the end of hope problems. There are several more downloads to come I've had 4 so far, all have been minor and no ill effects.
  5. No. You tell them if you don't sort it out to my satisfaction I'll take my custom elsewhere in the future and that includes sales & servicing, plus any further sale of a new car. It may change their attitude
  6. Been and done the stupid thing and left my key in my jeans pocket and shoved them in the washing machine like a complete muppet! I got it out after a full 30º wash & spin and found it still works with the exception that the front has come away! Is there a way to get that back in or do I need a new key shell? Or new key completely. Ta.
  7. Change dealerships is the simple answer to their poor attitude.
  8. Should be under warranty, they've got to prove that you haven't been negligent in your care of the vehicle and allowed stuff like bird 💩 to sit on it for a prolonged period or you didn't try and scrape it off rather than sponge or soak it off.
  9. To do it yourself you will need a 16Gb USB C memory stick or a USB C adapter to allow you to use a standard USB memory stick, ask for the link to download the firmware, the follow the guide on page 26 carefully or get someone to do it for you if you don't feel confident enough to do it yourself. Alternatively if you're car is still under warranty get it booked it to your dealer and get them to do it.
  10. Do you want to do that post again? You tried to post images using an unrecognized format so the board won't show them, they need to be in jpg usually to display properly
  11. It has to be updated to a higher version of the firmware first, then it can go up again, although it may have to have a hardware upgrade as well before that can happen.
  12. You might want to ask your dealer to do the series of updates/upgrades that are available
  13. Also if you haven't already update the firmware to 1941.
  14. I did last night, there is only one option that I may consider but it's on contract until 2024, so no hurry.
  15. Didn't even know that it existed. TBQH I'll have a look at what's in there next time I use the car.
  16. Wouldn't mind getting rid of the DAB and having FM only as DAB reception is terrible where I am and it keeps locking on to London radio stations which I don't want.
  17. 8hrs for an update?😧 What 🤬 are they updating? With a decent internet connection it takes a matter of minutes to download the 9Gb file (it was about 15 minutes or so for my connection), and another 15 minutes or so to format, extract and transfer the update to a USB stick and about 20 to do the 1941 transfer and update and completion.
  18. Skoda dealers are fully aware of it, so should do it FOC if the car is under warranty and it shouldn't take hours either, it should take about 45m or so, if you do it yourself it'll take about 15-20m to do. Albeit it won't have any manuals on it for a while, which it will receive via an OTA update, plus one or two others usually.
  19. The only two things I can suggest are: 1. If you still have the usb stick with the update on it, try re doing it, however that could brick the system completely, I don't know for certain if it would or not. 2. Take it to the dealer and get them to either reinstall, reset it.
  20. I'm still trying to get Google Maps to appear on my VC, I know that I like Waze, but sometimes I feel Google Maps is slightly better for things in West Somerset, after Waze tried to send me up an unpaved road as the shortest route between two points. 😠
  21. If there's nothing in the notifications menu then there's no update, but if you want it and feel confident enough to update your system manually then pay a visit to: ask for the update and follow my guide on how to do it
  22. If you're going to do the firmware update to version 1941, the guide is here: For radio logos visit: https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/
  23. If you look carefully you can get a double pack, have one for firmware and the other for your music & radio station logos
  24. Hi folks. Would putting an adhesive disc on the dashboard behind the infotainment leave a mark on it later when it comes to removing it. Just considering it for a mobile phone mount with suction cup on it and I know that suction cup mounts do leave a mark on the plastic that the dashboard is made of, I've got to move the current windscreen mount as I'm getting a French Crit'Air sticker which has to be more or less where it's located.
  25. I find that these are brilliant, dirt cheap from AliExpress and they make the key very grippy and resistant to dirt, dust and splash proof
