  2. Would it be an MOT failure?
  3. When I had a manual, it was always left in gear.
  4. There have been instances where the handbrake has released itself and the car has rolled.
  5. When you re-connect the battery, try to press the central locking button, the doors may not be deadlocked.
  6. Get the battery / alternator checked first.
  7. Although they're servicing the car, they probably won't be touching the gearbox as there is no service schedule for it.
  8. I mentioned this in an earlier post and the reply from @TheClient was if the locks were deadbolted the central locking button would not work. This was a surprise to me, so I sat in my car, locked it with the remote and sure enough no response from the central locking switch. There is no internal boot release.
  9. The bonnet release handle has been mentioned on this forum. It's flexible enough to be pulled out slightly to clear the speaker.
  10. Windows need the ignition on.
  11. It was 10 yrs old in January going by the mfg code. Car was registered in Mar 2013 and I bought it as an ex demo in Sept 2013. Its always had long periods of discharge of between 3 to 4 months and has always had enough power to start up. Start stop has always been used. These days, because I know I'm on borrowed time with it and hardly using the car, I'll start it up after about 6 weeks and run around for an hour or so. I can't use a charger without taking the battery out. My previous 2005 Octavia 1.6 petrol had exactly the same treatment and the battery was ok at 8.5 yrs old when I sold it.
  12. If you can get a charge to the battery by connecting to the stater motor, can you then get something long to reach the central locking button?
  13. Please ignore this post.

  15. Is this a recent thing you've noticed or has it always had this type of fuel consumption?
  16. Did it cure the s/s fault?
  17. Speed is not the issue here. OP was only doing 30mph and it was a momentary lapse of observation that caused the problem.
  18. One fuse serves both sockets.
  19. Does it go away when you turn off the ventilation system?
  20. Just hold down the unlock button and all 4 windows will open for as long as you press the button. Do the same with the lock button to close them. I think there is an option in settings to enable this feature.
  21. Can you open the window using the key fob remote?
