  1. Stop messing and wait untill you start driving, normally the park assist works when the engine is running and revearse is selected you get a beep on selection then as you get near to the obstruction the beeps get quicker untill they are a constant noise, the most common fault is the sensor in the bumper these fail quite often and are expensive to replace unless you can get a deal on old stock, bumper needs to be removed to fit new ones
  2. You cannot always see the crack some times you need to removethe spring to find it, the noise can also come from a broken suspension bush as the Fabia bushes are rubbish,I replaced both mine on our mk2 with seat curra bushes that are solid rubber and lasted 8 years beforecar waswritten off by an uninsured driver, the Seat bushes are around £50 for a pair but well worth fitting them
  3. Did come accross this once before and indeed a new battery cleared this fault, but have also seen this type of fault with belive it or not rusty or clogged up castleations on the drive shaft cv joint a good clean with a wire brush and a spray with WD40 cured it, try not to get wd on the driveshaft rubber it will make it swell and floppy
  4. You might not need to do anything yet as this happens after the weather is freezing because the pump is below the nearside wing out in the cold, we have had this happen before and found the only way to stop it is to use full strength windscreen wash not the mixed sort some people just use water and this happens all the time, if the pump has gone or connections are bad you will have to remove the lower panel under the wing and front nearside wheel and the front part of the wheel liner to get at it, on our MK3 I just waited untill it thawed out and kept washing the screen untill empty then re-filled with concerntrated screen wash in winter time and not had an issue since, in the sunmmer just go back to the mixed type
  5. Corect no code loss it will just take a few minutes to adjust but any presettings will be lost
  6. Yes quite common for these to snap/break on the MK2, our 2008 MK2 Fabia was always driven correctly through it's life and the both front springs had to be changed , there is a weakness at the top of the spring where it goes into the wing hosing cap bearing I have also seen these springs snap when the weather has dropped below freezing it's just the way they make them these days to make them cheap for the car makers so don't worry about it is a fault with these cars and many other makes Ford Seat etc
  7. Bad news just before Xmas I'm afraid the battery isn't quite up to the mark, if you can get hold of an hydrometer and can get each cap of each cell on the battery you can test each cell acid for strength, if you have a bad cell the acid will be discoloured and float in tester will be different to others tested you could however take it to a decent garage and ask for a drop test on the battery which involves sort of creating a dead short with a device on the battery to put it under extreme pressure, usually this shows up that perhaps one or more cells are starting to fail and battery might not survive the winter. PS a voltage tester is no good for doing this, like most garages they get it out and slap it on the battery and say it's faulty just to get you to buy a new one from them be aware
  8. To start with we need to know if it's a petrol or diesel model and the engine size and possibly the engine code as this will help as different models have different issues, would not think it's the starter to be honest as this usually shows up at a cold start
  9. Hey came across this problem with a mates car roughly the same milage it was a Mk 2 1.9 TDI, after many trips to a garage fault was still there, had a mobile guy have a look at it and it was the wiring loom for the injectors that was at fault, garage wanted silly money to fix it but he bought a used loom from a breakers and had it fitted by this mobile mechanic car is now ok, we checked the loom but could not find any break or rubbing but it was that as car is now ok, don't know if this will help but worth a try
  10. Hi had this issue wuth a 1.9TDI same sort of issue, after a while it got worse ligt would come on more regular and then it would take 2-3 ing turn off and back on to get it to work so bit the bullt and started a check list, went through the air intake looking for leaks tried the EGR unit and gave it a clean tried a turbo cleaner in the fuel still not resolved, most people were saying turbo vaines were stuck so went to investigate, I noticed then that the turbo actuator was not pulling a full stroke when I connected it up to a vacumn pump (used my brake bleeder vac pump) and as most said thouht the turbo was clogged up but it turned out to be the actuator itself, bought a pattern part aroung £60 changed this and car was back to normal, dealership told me turbo was gone and to have it replaced was around £1,100 plus vat, spent around £150 altogether doing it myself car was perfect as before but we now have a MK3 as it was written off by uninsured driver
  11. Had simular issue with a 1.9 tdi the battery at 13v is ok the problem starting was with the earth lead, I found that when I instaled a second earth from the stud on the wing down to the starter motor bolt the starting improved no end so your problem with the battery might be the earth lead from gearbox to the body not making good contact b y fitting an extra lead it could improve the condition of the battery
  12. Came across this situation in Halfords as well but mine was a 1.9TDI which is the same situation, landed up removing the filter bracket (torx bolts) and pulling to one side, Ithen managed to get my hand into the headlamp space and grabed the holder and wires with my hand and gave a good pull backwards, the holder and bulb came out, before refitting I drilled a hole in the holder and looped a zip tie through the holes to make a ring that you could pull again when needed, I did replace both bulbs for led ones and they lasted 12 years and were still going when the car was written off due to an accident, you can remove the headlamp but the bumper bracket has to be undone a few turns to allow the bumper to move down a bit otherwise if you force the headlamp out you will crack the bumper, the other method is the Skoda way and it involves taking wheel off inner liner and part of the bottm cover to get your hand up under the wng not recommened, by the way I have rewally large hands and did manage to get at the holder with minimal damage to my hand
  13. The mkII only has one reversing light (left side from rear) the other one drivers side is the rear fog light which works when you pulll the switch out sorry about that you have been barking up the wrong tree here, you can fit 2 reversing lamps but you need a lens fitting off a left hand drive and you'll need to wire up the rear fog lights to both rear lens nt really worth the potch to be honest
  14. Had a MK2 1.9TDI and put 10 lites of unleaded petrol in by mistake. filled tank with diesel as you did, a mate told me to use a liquid called CEBO which was added to the tank 1 litre, again topped the tank up after using this liquid, the car at the time was 4 years old with 20.000 miles on the clock, we did another 78.000 -- total 98,000 and 8 years later no issues what so ever , car was written off by a unisured driver my friend bought the whole car off us and fiited the engine in his, that enginr has now covered a otal of 132.000 miles and does not use any oil and still goes like stink so bear that in mind, ps the liquid CEBO cost at the time £12.95 for 1 litre, worked for me
  15. Many thanks brilliant the weather with us has been really bad last few days heavy rain and tday really strong winds along with the rain so have't had a spare half hour to drop a wheel off but no need now great info many thanks it's so good when people know what they know, standard dealer answer was "pop the car in and we'll have a look" you can see the pounds rolling around before they give you an answer, i can now look around for a wheel to use for a spare instead of buying a brand new one thanks again much appreciated
  16. Looks good I loved my old MK2 Fabia estate 1.9 TDI but sadly no longer with us written off by a plep driver, bought it in 2009 with 3000 miles on clock written off in 2019 with 96k , no issues just changed oil and filter every year and fuel and air filter every 2 years, did change the timing belt with pulley kit drive belt and adjuster at 70000 oh and replaced anti freeze with VWspec coolant, sold the car to a mate as he wanted an engine for his car, the motor has now done 120k and still does not use any oil and goes like stink Skoda produced one of the best engines with the 1.9 TDI, we now have a 1.0 TSI MK3 which is ok but miss the pull of the old TDI
  17. Just enquiring about an alloy wheel type for my MK3 Fabia SE L 1.0 TSI 2019, the car was supplied with the 17 inch brushed silver maetallic ally's from new and fitted with Bridgestone polenza tyres 215-40-17 I've looked on Skoda sites to what type they are but seem to be a strange one, the information states that they are a Stanton type but are 6.5 J where mine are 7J it also states that the 6.5 J was only fitted to the Skoda Radid and use 205-50 17 tyres so I'm a bit confused by this, could be wrong but not goinfg to shell out around £200 for a spare wheel, I have got a steel spare which is 185-60-15 and does fit car ok but wanted an alloy (it will fit in boot if jack carrier is dumped but wanted to get the correct alloy say of Ebay to keep for a spare, this is the said alloy any info would help thanks
  18. Fitted these to my MK2 a few years ago and they only lasted for 2 years tops, yes handling was improved but as you said idle did cause a little vibration, I also noticed that if you were in a high gear and put your foot down on some ocasions you would get a little vibration a well but soon as revs picked up no problem. When I went to change bushes after 2 years a mate told me to fit Seat Cupra bushes which are the same size but solid, drawbacks of these harder to fit but handling was better and lasted for 5 years and would still be ok but car was written off in 2019 by uninsured driver, we now have a mMK3 estate but petrol
  19. The diesel version 1.4 has a 3 cylinder and was always a bit lumpy, you need to check the air hose into the manifold connection as these if loose can cause this lumpy tickover, again as suggested a good blast out works wonders for the diesel, sometimes a wynns diesel / turbo cleaner in a full tank of fuel can sort out these problems
  20. Yes could be the sender unit or the connections to the unit, my MK2 had this very issue and the only way was to fill tank wat untill it dropped the quarter or so then fil up again turned out to be the unit devoloped a fault and had to replace it, mine was under the rear seat and I purchased a new unit fot £46 , after fitting everything seemed normal again
  21. Make sure you get them to replace the belt as a kit with new adjusters, these belts are really good from VW changed mine after 5 years as a kit also renewed water pump and anti-freeze, ld belt looked really good and sure it could have gone for another 5 years not cracking around teeth
  22. All depends on your use for these if using around town ans short say 20-30 mile trips the 1.9tdi would be the one to go for, even though fuel is more expensive you will get around 45-50 mpg and upto 60-65 mpg out of this car,oil and filter change along with fuel filter every year and you can get 120k upwards from this motor, the TSI would havea better spec but fuel will suffer you'll get around 30 max on short trips but can get up to 40-45 mpg on a run, same again oil and filter change but you would struggle a bit to get the long term mileage without other engine parts breaking down plugs coil packs etc I own a 1.0 tsi fabia which i wish could have the 1.9 tdi but sadly not available anymore the 3 cylinder engine in this is ok but lacks the low down power of the 1.9 tdi which in our area was a gos send on the hills, this car gets up them ok but you need to keep the motor reving, 1.9 tdi pushhes out around 105 bhp so really it's up to you good luck
  23. Tail gate fits the only difference is of course the main model change ie- mk1, mk2 mk3, the estate hatch does fit the hatchback from the year you are looking at, I think it's only the rear doors that are different as the estate has a different window set up to the hatch front doors etc are the same
  24. Same tailgate for both models be prepared to fut your rear wiper to this tailgate sometimes the lock is also removed
  25. Quite easy if not electric, pop off the internal triangle plastic use a plastic prise lever as metal will scratch you will then see 3 tox screws these need to be removed, I found it an advantage to wind the window down as you can then hold the mirror as you release the bolts, normaly the sponge seal breaks I used a silicone seal around the edge to stop water getting in re-fit the 3 torx screws and clip back in the plastic triangle part job done, electric one is a bit more work as the door card has to be removed to get a the wires
