  1. Intermittent stop/start is usually an indication of battery low state of charge - either from low use, or failing battery.
  2. There did appear to be a lot of some sort of liquid on the surface - especially towards centre of road. Was there a strong smell of diesel in the area?
  3. From the Lat/Long displayed on your post, it would appear that your receiver is receiving some basic positioning data - but not sufficient to get a proper fix, this would tend to reinforce the likelihood of an antenna fault to me.
  4. Cellphone signal strength is immaterial for GPS - it needs a clear view of the sky. I'd suggest you first need to get the GPS antenna checked.
  5. Hello, welcome to the forum. How much oil is being used/lost?
  6. The 'Shark Fin' on the roof is the GPS antenna.
  7. On the estate, those are the radio antennas.
  8. Use the meters 10 Amp scale when doing this - usually requires plugging positive test lead into dedicated meter port.
  9. To view satellites being received if your system is Amundsen MIB2. Boot up Navigation, Activate bottom task bar with gesture, Touch 'View', Menu box will display options (Auto; Day; Night; Split-screen; POIs) Select Split-screen (tick box), this will display a box on screen showing Lat/Long; Altitude and a satellite dish symbol, GPS - (X/X) being number of satellites currently in view. If this display shows between 0/0 and 2/2 you are not receiving signals from sufficient satellites to fix your position. The GPS antenna on the estate (combi) is the 'shark fin' at the rear on the roof and there is some history of the PCB in the antenna base being damaged by water ingress.
  10. I am almost certain that a faulty SD card will not cause the issue you report - but an antenna fault definitely will. If you can confirm that your system is Amundsen MIB2, I will check mine and report back on how to view the satellite information.
  11. Perhaps the negative chassis connection tag was not giving a clean connection to the jump lead?
  12. On one of the GPS screens (in settings/split-screen, I think), there is a function that displays the number of satellites currently in view - if an antenna fault is causing your issue, this will show how many are being received.
  13. Hello, welcome to the forum. You shouldn't need to reset your location - the GPS receiver does all the locating automatically when it boots up and 'sees' sufficient satellites for a fix. Most likely you have a problem with your GPS antenna. What is your vehicle and what infotainment system - Amundsen MIB2?
  14. That appears to be identical procedure to Mk3.
  15. Hello, welcome to the forum. Take it back to the servicing garage and politely request that they complete the job.
  16. To a point, I agree - but using cruise in suitable conditions can help reduce fatigue on a drive by not needing to maintain a fixed throttle position for long periods. No substitute for regular rest stops, but it is useful.
  17. ...And don't forget that the constellation is orbiting, so there is a constant rising and setting of individual satellites.
  18. If you can and you don't have a frowning salesman sitting alongside, try doing a timed run 0-60 somewhere safe.
  19. Possibly - but will still cause issues.
  20. The turbo on my 1.4 starts boosting at around 1200 rpm and really gets going at around 1500, AFAIK, the 1.5 is supposed to be similar. The boost isn't like lighting the blue touch-paper, but has a pretty wide power band.
  21. Your comment that the fuel 'looked a bit sludgy' will require fixing too - clean fuel is an absolute critical item, particularly with a diesel.
  22. Hello, welcome to the forum. Have you checked that the fuel pump is delivering fuel at the correct pressure?
  23. That would seem a little unlikely as the vehicle should have still been under warranty for at least the second service.
  24. The 1.5TSI cambelt replacement is a fair bit more complicated and expensive than the older 1.4 - but that will not be due until about 120K miles. I've always thought it a little odd that the 1.5TSI had exactly the same power output as the 1.4!
  25. I think there may have also been issues with stretching cam chains on some EA888s - just done a little checking, the Gen2 engine was revised to Gen3 in 2011. I think if the 1.8 was a very good price, I'd take the risk - but it would have to be in really great condition and I'd want a good long test period before accepting.
