  1. Something that has to be done, MOT and service. So I decided to take Skoda's offer of service plan, 1x oil and inspection + 1 x oil and extended scope package. At 398quids. Decent value me thinks and car will get booked in before end of the month. Not something I expected to do on my 2016 280... But at that price, I cannot complain.
  2. My 2016 280 gets to water temp pretty quick (5mins sound right) but at that point, the oil isn't even showing anything, i.e. below 50degC. I'd want the oil to be up to temps before racing anyone off the lights!
  3. My Michelin PS5 costs about 180 per corner after discounts. And that's before prices went up. It's probably around 200 per corner now. A good all season can be 250 yes.... That's also due to the 19inch 235s being a relatively rare size. Lol
  4. Isn't that supposed to be yellow when indicating? Full yellow DRL would be confusing for other drivers innit?🤔
  5. My 2016 280 has the valves. And far as I can discern, on my stock car, the valves open in engine start up and do a cycle open/close then remain closed. In sport mode, they are supposed to be always open but I cannot be certain since the difference on stock exhaust between valve open and close is minor. Nearly indiscernible inside the car.
  6. If not mistaken, the 190 petrol has similar peak torque figure to the 280. Certainly at the lower end (power is torque x rpm) so it'll feel exactly the same unless you rev it out , it's the same ! Discounting losses, gearing etc.
  7. If mine ever gives up the ghost, expect a PM...😆
  8. I think I remember you are in South London from a post somewhere. If you don't mind, can you share who that Indy is? I am in South London too... I quit main dealer servicing and have used Volks Auto Sutton, 4rings in Dartford (dsg/haldex) and even a local garage for a brake job + oil change.
  9. Last year was More Than (online only policy). They quit doing car insurance this year from September so my new insurer from Jan is with Aviva Zero (online only).
  10. I renewed insurance for my 280. Same price as last year (with same conditions and 9 vs 8 years NCB) actually so am very pleased.
  11. Ah so they changed the logic. I'd be annoyed with coasting in normal mode I think. Simply because there is a slight delay for gear to engage when getting back on. Absolutely fine in eco when I am in the mood for it though.
  12. There should be no coasting in normal mode? Unless something has changed on newer cars. Is it actually just shifting up to the highest gear instead?
  13. I recently topped mine up. Check the header tank. Mine says G13, so G13 is what I put in.
  14. Did you replace the tank too? I have the mit silikat tank 😂. 800quid... Will be a hit but if it happens, I will have to do it. Gonna keep an eye on it.
  15. I got ATE coated discs and ATE Ceramic pads and they are silent. Like the OEMs. Dust is still there, just a lighter shade, grey instead of black.
  16. Topped up coolant. Routine check (engine cold) and found level to be slightly below min level. Few months ago before I went to Germany, it was showing min level. Yes I know.. I didn't top it up then...Lol. Will monitor and see if there is a leak...
  17. The aero wheels do actually help EV range which is why you see many EVs with wheels like that. They do look a bit daft but I reckon once it's commonplace...Nobody will care anymore lol.
  18. Yes, LEDs progressively get dimmer with age. Make it a quarter of 20k hours and it's still a good chunk of time. The drivers and other electronics normally fail before the actual diodes anyway.
  19. I always check after a service that the oil level is correct. And also to have a baseline of what it is so next time I check, I get an idea if there is a change and how much.
  20. @kodiaqsportline I agree that SUVs have advantages for access and egress. The middle back seat also normally have a smaller hump or none at all. Higher driving position is attractive to a lot of people. That said, I still prefer a normal hatch/estate as the above are not so important to me. I did feel like king of the road when I had a Ford transit for a week as a rental. Very high driving position, one of the highest around. Until I try to park at height restricted place and I sweat lol
  21. A pleasant looking thing. Much better than the Passat but still softer looking than the MK3.
  22. Do you really hang then on a hook? Inside a EM blocking pouch I assume? If not, I suggest doing so. Unless that hook is really really far away from the car 😂 I change mine whenever the warning comes up. Top of my head, about once a year the warning comes up. Maybe a bit more. But definitely not 20months.
  23. Just replace with OEM shocks and you'll be fine. Worn shocks affect ride quality.
  24. @JR RS Depending on mood, I could intepret that sometimes as Skoda + turbo = 😞 at the pumps 😂.
