I use https://tiresize.com/comparison/ if you go for 205/45 at 60mph its actually 62mph and 205/50 its actually 64mph according to their site. As previously said as long as all tyres are the same size ABS etc wont be affected. Had 225/40/18 on a people carrier but the weight rating was too low so went for 225/45/18 and didnt really notice. On it the larger size just cleared the bottom of front strut. Make sure you have enough room. Alasdair

Might be worth getting bearings checked if its related to speed. Does it change if turning left and right. Sons fabia was really loud droning but seemed to get better/worse when turning. No obvious play in bearing but was pretty rough and tight when turning wheel. Also if fitted on the scala check the front exhaust flexi hasnt failed. Alasdair

I had a troublesome alarm on my old Seat. I removed siren fuse and eventually alarm battery went flat. Indicators still flashed but at least it didnt wake anybody up in the middle of night. Alasdair

If the autospark is 100% sure wiring is good then you may as well fit two recon injectors. If you dont then I reckon you will have problems selling it or get a lot less than its worth. Hopefully it will cure it and if your still worried about reliability it will be easier to get rid of. Not sure where the best place to get recon injectors from but someone on here may know. P2149 is as far as I know is a failing injector or wiring fault. The injectors would probably have been tested when cold and could be failing when very hot or there is a wiring issue the autospark missed. What engine is in your mk2? Alasdair

Could be a defective new caliper (not common but not impossible) although might be pads that are tight in the carrier. Have had some that were slightly too large and were very stiff. Slight file of the edges and sorted it. Make sure area the pads sit in on carrier is clean and free from rust etc and check pads arent too tight. Also check the rear wheel bearing for roughness and play as well and make sure the discs are running true and not binding at some point. If the bearing or disc isnt running true it can cause disc to bind and heat up/wear pads Alasdair

Door cards are different and manual window winder mounting is as well (different location) so check there are mountings in your door for electric motor etc. Sons is a mk1 55 plate with electric front windows and central locking. It may be easier/cheaper to swap doors? Alasdair

It could be sticking randomly but also might be a broken wire/dodgy connector to it thats sometimes not making contact. Check wiring for wear/breaks etc and inspect hoses for splits etc. Alasdair

Keep a note of which way the adjuster is fitted as they only work if fitted the right way round. Theres a bump at top but cant remember if it faces you or the reverse. Alasdair

Mine does the same. The high idle followed by fans on after stopping are a failed regen. When I notice high revs I try to continue driving and give it for a good blast down the road at revs above 2500 for about 20 mins and it should complete the regen till next time. Mine is due to shorter runs than I used to do. Alasdair

On the MK1 fabia which I am sure will be the same or similar on yours there are slider wedges that automatically adjust in rear drums. They can seize or wear out. They have a gripped surface on one side and are held in place with a small spring. It could also be a failing brake cylinder or leaking cylinder and contaminated shoes or a sticking handbrake cable on the poor side. If the handbrake is high it would point to the adjuster not working. Either way they will need to be taken apart to check. Alasdair

Could also be due to overfilling with petrol and some is in carbon caniste but i think it would happen more often. If the fuel cap is good a new N80 valve is around £20 and easy to change. Got a bosch one for my sons mk1 for £15 off amazon. Check that any pipes are secure and not split. Alasdair

check undertray/arch liners etc. Have had one that was slightly loose and made a weird howling sound at specific speeds. Must have caught it on something and ripped a couple of screw fixings. As it plastic it may be slightly softer when weather hot so might change speed it resonates at. Alasdair

Hope it stays gone. If it returns I think there should be a multipin cable from ecu in the engine bay fuse box. Not sure exactly where. On my octavia it seems to connect through base of box. Check it for loose pins/corosion. Hopefully it was a fuse/relay that needed reseated. Alasdair

Meant base of actual engine bay fuse box as in picture above. Think there are connectors underneath to ecu etc. Not unknown for a pin to be coroded or socket opened up enough to make bad connection especially if moisture is present. Alasdair

A random thought and could be wrong but wonder if its corrosion or bad connector pin/socket in bottom of engine bay fuse box? Might be making good contact when warm but poor when cold thats not enough to trigger other fault codes but the N522 valve system may be more sensitive. Alasdair

Problem with the stone chip guard it gets brittle and cracks with age then moisture gets trapped underneath. If the rest is solid I would leave it alone. Alasdair

Used febi ones as well and no problems. Put a slight smear of copper grease on bit that fits in hole not the tip for future removal. According to youtube the new bearings should click in place when fully home. I didnt hear anything but they went in as far as the old ones. Took a photo of the old ones in place before removal for reference. Sons were really loud but no play and we only noticed once I finally fixed his blowing flexi exaust. Just got to do front swing arms and bushes now, Alasdair

If the shaft seals are leaking it may be low on oil hence the clunk. I would get gearbox oil level checked and also the condition of it first. Could also be worn cv joints. Alasdair

Are you getting 12v at N522 valve with ignition on. Just wondering if its a bad fuse or relay problem. Read the valve is supplied with 12v at ignition and ecu connects earth to operate it. Alasdair

Had to spend a bit of time cleaning up bearing socket on my sons. Especially the grooves it clicks into due to corosion. Fairly easy to do with the correct puller. Couldnt get ABS sensor out without destroying it. Give it a good soak with penetrating oil for a day or two and you will hopefully be lucky. Alasdair

Maybe check engine bay fuse box for loose contacts/corosion/relays and all earth points you can find. as the wiring is new and so is valve. Alasdair

Odd it does it at cold start. Wonder if its a poor connection somewhere thats bad when cold and when warm it expands making better contact or perhaps cranking cold engine is dropping voltage too low and causing errors. Check battery voltage when cold cranking? Hope you get to the bottom of it Alasdair
