  1. Do you have a copy of your modified xml dataset? I wanted to compare to mine, not sure if im gonna go down the stock dataset then modified. or the publicly available dataset then modified
  2. I’ve got all my dcc parts, once it’s been done on my own car and all kinks ironed out, I’ll be offering it. Probably won’t be for 6 months though sorry
  3. Pretty spot on 😂 But I don’t believe there is a specific law on tow bars, maybe on the consequences and on other things such as what you can and can’t tow. there is EU specifications on what is approved and tested tow bars but don’t think it’s a legal responsibility on companies. either way - at the end of the day and all the courts are interest in - you as the driver of the vehicle HAVE to make sure your vehicle or any vehicle you drive is safe, legal and fully working before every journey.
  4. Broad statement to make that the tow bar will be perfect without having seen it. you’d assume and hope it’s all the correct specification, approved and fitted correctly but can not be 100% yourself. the point of concern is even if a legal tow bar is fitted, if the vehicle weight plate doesn’t allow a gross train weight then it’s still not legal to tow with it
  5. You need 4 special radio removal keys, these can be had on eBay for cheap. slots into 4 holes on the face of the display till it clicks, then screen pulls out. disconnect both plugs replace in reverse order
  6. First question - is the car plated to tow? second - is this a main dealer or small independent? third - what have they fitted, specifically, brand, model and such? forth - where are you located? we need all this detail to advise further. a properly fitted tow bar should of been fitted that seamlessly ties with the vehicle systems and automatically turns off and changes certain systems when plugged in, this clearly hasn’t been done
  7. Do not fit a 457! Just cause it looks the same and plugs in doesn’t mean it’s the right one… glowplugs work at varying voltages and in different ways depending on car. As well as that they may be wired differently and the internal controller will output different signals and receive different signals. This gen of tdi should have a a 527, id first be checking a specific manufacturer fault code to get more details and then check wiring for faults before replacing components
  8. Yes. You can’t select the different display types without the view button. in return you loose the phone button - which functions no different than pressing okay when a call is made anyway
  9. Just something to add - normally the discs develop a lip and this cuts into the sensor before the 2mm pad thickness is reached very common on lots of makes of car!
  10. Chances are your boot handle has had the internal micro switch fail. If you are interested and its the 'rectangular' shape boot handle/button, then i do have a bunch for sale. Fairly straight forward to change DIY as well.
  11. Weird one guys... All was working just fine, then when i added the pin 6 wire for the opening animation the indicators have changed to no animation at all and are just on/off, no sweep. Anyone had this and know the fix before i start hunting? Thanks
  12. Good chance like most that dont follow the correct procedure they didnt run the manufacturers vent coolant routine which purges all air from the system and after your drive that air bubble has finally released and hence the need for 2 extra litres. Im not saying you do or dont have mpg issues. But glowplugs will make little to no difference to mpg... at all. Now if you have flat spots and a lack of power then id be asking for the timing to be rechecked NOW. If your timing is slightly out then fine they can correct it, but if your pulley has slipped then it will only slip further... just me airing on the side of caution but id be wanting the timing rechecked, its not a massive job for the garage.
  13. Wow that’s a very very good price for Skoda directly. Normally they quote £700+ I charge £410 with the electronic water pump and new coolant so yeah I’d say what you’ve paid is a good price!
  14. How much did it set you back? just wanna make sure my pricing is still competitive 😛 And yeah you were right to get it done, 5 years or roughly 130,000 miles
  15. Semantics i know... but DONT put the charger on the battery directly. Put the positive on the positive terminal and the negative on the bulkhead of the car behind the battery. That way the car also knows how charged/discharged the battery is and you dont bypass the system.
  16. Why not repair the haldex system? Its not a massive job in the scheme of things, new clutch basket with plates, new pump and a really good clean up.
  17. Personally… I’d be taking it somewhere else for a second opinion. WITHOUT giving them any prompts about other diagnosis’s. So you’re saying when a new dual mass is fitted the sound goes away? But comes back how long after? If there was a broken tooth on a gear then it would be there all the time…
  18. Yes you will need to. Are you swapping for a like for like? Exact same part numbers. if so you should just run replace module procedure on odis so that way the correct dataset, parameters, Software and coding are all there. And did the diff die… or the haldex?
  19. You can buy a haldex gen 5 service kit with all required parts at a very good price on eBay. run the required actuation after to pre fill the pump and then put more fluid in. the 2 o rings on the pump are very slightly different sizes replace the washers and plugs
  20. Okay, I’ll take a look when home tonight for you. If you can drop me a message either by private message or on my link below to my Facebook page, whatever’s easier to you. Just to remind me
  21. if you can look through the wheel arch at the spring and see what colour the coloured bands are on the spring i can check they match up. Its genuine and obviously used but no corrosion, can throw in the top mount too
  22. Purple cover? you’re not talking about the terminal locking tab are you? that does not and should not come off
  23. That is all factory insulation/wire protection. the bit you think is a wire just looks like a bit of twig or hair. there should only be the 2 wires to the sensor that we can see both
  24. Luckily in the mk3 they fixed the scuttle blocking up issue. they made the holes much bigger and unrestricted so things hardly block them up. that being said if you like in an especially dusty/lots of leaves area you may still suffer if there’s enough of it
  25. Shame you didnt come to us before buying the sensor! I could of supplied you with a much cheaper alternative as i literally have one sitting here! Also, I may have a genuine replacement spring you can have for free if its any good to you?
