  1. Does VCP allow using xml odis datasets? That is what we can supply. VCP takes free datasets and encrypts them, catalogs them, then charges for them!
  2. Hey all, So im due a brake change all round and found some nice cheap audi S3 calipers (same as the superb 272/280 but with a face plate) Currently in the process of rebuilding and painting the calipers and want everyones thoughts on what to put on the face plate. Currently they have 'S' on them but the OE options are 'S', 'S3', 'R', 'GTI' which all relate to audi and vw as it was never an option. Calipers are being painted black and im swaying towards S3 as that is what the calipers are off, and S3 could mean 'Superb mk3' at a push Whats everyones thoughts or anyone got any further skoda related ideas for me to put on them.
  3. Are you trying to retrofit it or are you replacing it? If the retrofit option - there are quite a few more parts involved.
  4. That is far from timed up correctly... its miles out! Did you attempt to start the car? Did you turn the engine over by hand twice and recheck the pins
  5. Just something to add. Brake fluid should be tested at the reservoir and also the caliper for an accurate assessment. If you only test at 1 point you may miss a heavily contaminated system at one point.
  6. The technical terms to confuse people do make me laugh.... Clamp 30/Terminal 30 is battery voltage - Terminal 15 is ignition voltage. A clamp 30 reset is a smart way of saying turn it off and turn it back on again, ie. disconnect battery for a while, reconnect and clear fault codes.
  7. Not at all compatible without changing the gateway, steering squib, bcm, new wiring for the heated part and some custom coding and new wires for the heated wheel. this steering wheel is for the new gen of mqb platform and can’t be fitted without a lot of other chances or a custom made bus decoder and recoder to sort the different signals

    Welcome to the forum
  9. High beam doesnt have an adjustment and never will... its an unregulated/restricted bulb that just lights up everything, nothing needs adjusting. Show us a photo of what the supposed issue is?
  10. The wiring is not there already nor is any of the coding or controls, often the BCM if not a high line will need replacing too. Basically nothing is there for them sadly. If you wanted to fit them youd first have to add the wiring loom, find the correct heater controls and confirm the BCM is correct
  11. Ea288 injector seals are not a common issue unless tampered with. Stretch bolts need replacing as these snap if reused, thats about it.
  12. Ive dropped much bigger chunks of carbon into a cylinder before and started it up, bit of a noise then nothing. No problems - not that i recommend it! Also with new glowplugs which are ceramic they get to 1000 degrees very quickly and rather than use a 12v switched relay they work on PWM voltages from very low voltage high current. This means they can regulate their temperature very closely. It also means you DONT test them with a 12v supply, youll damage them, do a resistance check and that is all.
  13. Carbon leakage stops at the threads and doesnt often get past. You can refit glow plugs but you still have to go through the steps below again. There are 3 things that arent just 'helpful' but ESSENTIAL - yet hardly any garage or person ever does them and this is why the poor sod then has to deal with this situation. 1. TORQUE THE GLOWPLUGS CORRECTLY - Everyone tightens them down and goes 'oh just a bit more', glowplugs dont often go above 5-10Nm which to most is basically loose so people 'nip them up' with a ratchet probably putting up to 25nm of torque on them, thats a hell of a lot more. 2. Use a ceramic grease (not lithium or moly) on the shaft, a tiny amount - this just means if they do have a blowby then it doesnt stick nearly as much 3. Before fitting the new ones make sure to use a hole reamer as pictured below. This will first clean all deposits off the tips entry point and then use a very long thin wire brush to clean the mating face up. A quick squirt of brake cleaner to make sure the face is perfectly clean and fit the new plug.
  14. Exactly that. If the machined face is dirty and doesnt seal, soot makes its way up the side of the glowplug and stops at the threads. But at this point the soot literally seizes the glow plugs solid in the bore. Exact same thing happens with diesel injectors. If the threads were tapered like you suggest the soot would be right up to the threads around the side of the glowplug and would never come out again after a few thousand miles.
  15. The threads are not tapered and never have been on glow plugs. Generally a M10x1.0 thread, no difference in pitch or width. They seal on a machined face.
  16. Spinning an engine over creates next to no compression compared to the compression created from detonation of fuel and air. So basically would make no difference at all. And disconnecting the plug from a glowplug aint would make no difference? Its not an ignition source and wont stop the engine from firing?
  17. I wonder if there is an further progress with this? Im invested in the mystery now!
  18. well to be even more accurate there isn’t a LED in the mirror glass. There is an LED behind the mirror glass on a plastic backing plate that shines through the glass 😂😂😂
  19. I had an Audi A4 b7, same platform, same location, same fault. One morning my car was like a fish tank and the fuse box and ccm was under water. luckily on the superb the scuttle drains are big holes, none of these rubber water drains that block up
  20. CCM' isnt a thing on Skoda/VW but the BCM, body control module is (just different terminology). It is located behind the glovebox to the left of the fuse box, 3 plugs going into it, 2 large, 1 small.
  21. Wiper blades arent a 'service item' change them when they wear out. The spare wheel/puncture kit and such is not part of an MOT no matter what is in there as its not 'fitted' to the vehicle.
  22. Second hand Audi S3 8V as I’ll be stripping them down and painting them anyway
  23. Skoda sell them, around £1.50 i believe.
  24. The only way this can be done is if you also have the lane assist camera sadly. Traffic sign recognition is required.
  25. What camera are we talking about? Dash camera or reverse camera? If reverse, fit a genuine one for best quality.
