  1. Hi there, There is no fuse box in the boot? Youve got the one behind the glovebox and one in the engine bay.
  2. National tyres have been owned by Halfrauds for a while now. Youd thing they would check the tyres are there before removing them? they also damaged a wheel on my car, admitted liability straight away and paid for a refurb that was shocking, I wish I just made them pay for a brand new wheel as the refurb diamond cut was terrible. the joys of a fast fit centre where the staff give 0 cares about anyones car in there and normally end up with some extra damage. But because 99% of people wouldn’t notice or care; they don’t either.
  3. Youll be moving from an all in one system to a mib2 system. For this youll need a fakra hsd cable, a mib extension cable as well as a new glovebox. I hope youre also aware its far from plug and play - component protection needs removing, swap codes, correct datasets, correct adaptations
  4. The 'battery monitoring' is a current clamp on the negative battery terminal. Using a non genuine diagnostic tool wont always give perfect descriptions so that may be the confusion. It could be the current clamp has failed or the wiring to it.
  5. You know what... this makes perfect sense, but then the o rings on the release valve would still have to get wet by the chemical. Only other way is a pneumatic one if you have a compressor, thats pretty fault proof. Something like this 'pneumatic wash gun' Has the benefit of the added pressure to help wash things down. But then of course youll need a decent air compressor to run it.
  6. Very common issue, failure of a microswitch in the selector tower. A repair kit can be had that replaces just the internal switch with a bolt on external one. Im assuming youre still under warranty so id be pushing for a new selector tower.
  7. So we used to have 1 of these per bay at my old place... So roughly 8 bottles. We tried everything from pound land to £50 bottles from places like Sealey, Wurth and all the big names, even a Pierburg one. All of them whether next day or within 6 months had failed seals and needed replacing. So if youre gonna buy one, buy a tonne of rebuild kits with spare seals! Youll need them. Now for home use i just buy big amounts of aerosol brake cleaner and for the bigger cleaning jobs i either use warm neat kerosene or my aqua mix sand blaster turned right down
  8. I completely missed that part.... my bad
  9. As in it doesnt move even when you operate the controls? Or the memory function or what part isnt moving?
  10. Sodium Azide isnt used much in airbags anymore, Theyve moved on to other gas generating chemicals. Yes i agree its not classed as an explosive, just easier to explain that way. Yes I also agree its mostly not impact sensitive (although another pressure/impact and anything will ignite). I still wouldnt say its safe to muck about with, nor would I say its idiot proof, many things are 'idiot proof' but still hurt people. Yes airbags are very safe and generally you have to do a lot of things wrong to trigger them, but that doesnt mean taking precautions isnt a good idea...
  11. Disconnecting a battery does not make a airbag 'safe'. The chances of any of these happening is slim to absolutely none, but still take precautions. Dont drop it as it could cause an accidental trigger. Dont put anything on or near the electrical terminals, chances of a spark/static triggering are probably none, but dont risk it. When put down, point the airbag to the sky, not face down. If it goes off you dont want it flying upwards. At the end of the day its still an explosive that can do a lot of damage so its never 'safe' until after being triggered and the explosives are used up.
  12. Easily! Youd get probably 2/3 doors in the back no problem with the seats down. Just take some protection/padding
  13. Its crazy how drivers doors are all over the place... but passenger doors are rare as hens teeth!
  14. Both good guesses. So I’m the process of making my MY17 superb sportline seats to the highest spec possible. so that means both front seats will be heated, ventilated, massage, electric and memory. As many will know, most of these things didn’t come on a 2017 superb, let alone on the sportline seats. fair bit of custom work is going into it, next hurdle to tackle is the ventilated mats and seat cushions. but the above is basically - to get the memory version of the passenger seat controls they want £190 for the controls new, or roughly £100 second hand. as I had a right side memory seat controls and a left hand non memory. I stripped the parts from the right module, desoldered everything and flipped the circuit board round, refitted everything in the left hand housing. Then found out the placement of the centre switch is not symmetrical so couldn’t be flipped round, hence having to drill holes straight through the circuit board and use link wires. Everything is secure and I will probably go back over the work with a nicer quality wire but for proof of concept it works as intended. And saves me £100-£190!
  15. 10 points to whoever can work out what i am doing here! Not my prettiest of work, but yes it was successful
  16. Just a fyi, aftermarket antennas don’t generally have the correct resistance so may leave a fault code. they do still work, just get a open circuit code normally
  17. I didn’t wanna get too technical with it but yeah you’re spot on 😛 people seem to forget what anti freeze is, cause it definitely is not coolant!
  18. If fitting a used cluster remember that odis may block it if the cluster is deemed stolen or scrap. also, mileage can’t be taken down, only up and this can be done on a bench rig.
  19. Everyone is forgetting the correct procedure. Chances are there is an airlock in the system, there is a diagnostic procedure to allow correct venting of the coolant system. if this isn’t run for its full cycle you risk air locks in the high temp and low temp coolant circuits. I don’t think vcds can do it, odis can though. regarding concentration - water is what has the heat transfer capabilities, anti freeze is the additive mix that prevents rust, freezing and other bits. just having water in the car will still allow the engine to transfer heat perfectly fine (not that you should have just water)
  20. It’s very easy to remove the glovebox when you know how, it should also be in the owners manual. open the glovebox about half way then simply pull it straight up off its hinges and the entire glovebox comes out
  21. Hi there, any fault codes? Have you enabled the correct swap codes? Got the correct adaptations? GPS plugged in and getting signal? please provide more detail?
  22. Your car needs an actual regen, doing just short journeys and not completing a cycle is not only diluting the oil with fuel but blocking the dpf further. to do a regen simply take the car for a 30 minute drive at motorway speeds. Anyone that says ‘drop a gear and keep the revs high’ and all that rubbish… ignore it. The car is perfectly capable of carrying out its own regen at whatever rpm you do at motorway speeds. It will put additional load on the engine to assist by turning on ac, heated windows and such and this is all part of the process. No need for driver intervention other than a longer continuous drive
  23. You also get the clocks on the sportline without any rear heating or seat heating
  24. Yes it matters if they’re left or right sided. As long as the one you find is 3V2 and NOT 3V1 it will be for a left hand traffic road which is the U.K.
  25. A lot of the superbs have a rear clock that shows temperature outside and the time. Yes it can be added, a power, ground and lin wire need to be ran to that point that the control panel plugged in. ive got a spare one for sale going cheap if you’re interested
