  1. NO! Xenons and halogens use different lenses and reflectors! So your ides will give you mismatched headlights side to side.
  2. @hayeksbane "Steering angle sensor Status CANCELLED DUE TO DETECTED MALFUNCTION Steering angle sensor..." Big clue!!
  3. Ok, put the front wheels straight, then put the steering wheel as straight as you can get it, noting that it might well not go perfectly straight. If this is too hard, and any further communication beyond a "thank you" will be taken as meaning that it is, contact a garage with steering alignment equipment and a reputation for being able to use if.
  4. Which code reader? Not all readers are created equal.
  5. Take the steering wheel off again and put it back on as straight as you can get it. That's it. The splines on the steering column and wheel are too coarse to achieve perfect adjustment.
  6. £100 for 5 minutes work...
  7. Well, the stealership certainly saw your mate coming from some miles off!
  8. Good moves. Local taxi firms may know someone who can do an undetectable DPFectomy for you.
  9. @BoxerBoy similarly, with the note that I normally signal "move right" with a 3-flash chop on dual cabbageways and may or may not signal "move left" depending on other traffic and its behaviour.
  10. @nextsep17 as @chimaera says, with the note that 1 hour and a USB stick should let you download all relevant manuals.
  11. EuroKneeCAP arbitrarily take 1* off a car's rating for every extra "safety device" they require after its original test date.
  12. Mine had a similar issue, and would fire in about 1s then idle roughly with lots of white smoke for about 10s, then be fine until the next cold start.
  13. I have heard of cars where this would be normal design functionality.
  14. Well, there's this thing called a "Vehicle Identification Number" (VIN) on the windscreen. There are various websites which will give you a detailed spec if you input the VIN.
  15. Well, that is a pretty definite indication that the car has not been properly warmed up. In turn that makes me think that the engine has never been hot enough to adjust the mixture properly.
  16. Skoda may not recommend using a 5W-Something multigrade oil, but have no legal power to prohibit anything. There are only 2 known values for a multigrade oil, a W (winter) value measured at an oil temperature of 0C and a hot value measured at 100C. At all other times unless the oil is extremely hot or cold the viscosity is between the quoted values. Other than on the edges of the sump, cylinder head, rocker cover and oil pump if applicable, engine oil does not contact gaskets, and where it does, these edges are not wearing faces. If you doubt this, please go and look at a scale drawing of an engine showing accurate gasket thicknesses. Ok, oil may contact seals (eg crankshaft end seals), but the only known issue with them is if reverting from a "synthetic" oil to a pure mineral oil you may have contraction of the seals.
  17. Ok, I've never had a carburettor car rev that hard (2_000 or so) on a cold start and full choke. I also never adjust mixture or idle stop until the engine is full hot, say after 10 miles (16km) at highway speeds. Reference the carburettor icing, this can occur any time you get very high relative humidity, and is more likely if you have the intake set to "Summer" and/or missing/broken "Winter" ducting.
  18. Why? Either a political reason with no technical background or a proper technical explanation as to why a low Winter viscosity oil may not be used please.
  19. @RalfRannet @nta16 @Thefeliciahacker Well, I can't actually prove this over the internet, but I think the carb is very badly set up, and may possibly also have a air leak.
  20. If the old plugs were black, they were oil or carbon fouled. Was it matt powder or oily liquid black?
  21. I agree with @Thefeliciahacker; your description sounds more like it's running lean. It would help if you could describe the colour of the spark plugs' electrodes.
  22. It sounds like the seat connectors aren't staying permanently "made".
  23. None of the above. Similarly most other panels, glassware and trim won't fit...
