  1. Will 16" wheels go over your brakes?
  2. "Hot". Opposite of "Cold". Look at where the filter draws from rather than just how big it is.
  3. Yes, that is a good indication of the size of the Hot AI.
  4. It sounds like an issue with the full throttle upshift facility on the kickdown mode.
  5. How about @TheWanderer looks "away" about 90 degrees right at Pulpit Rock Northbound?
  6. Brake servo, ABS unit... Bleed the servo first (both nipples), and then callipers. If that doesn't do it, you need to do a VCDS bleed of the ABS unit because there's air in the valve block.

I can. OTOH I'm taller (4'22") than most wives.
  8. If I was looking at a 10 to 13 year old car, I'd be more concerned about condition than "2 or 3 owners".
  9. ... have come and gone, more as a "fashion statement" than any form of engineering, in waves since about 1980CE.
  10. Never heard of this test before, but as long as you know how to interpret it to get water content it's as good as any other specific gravity test.
  11. I'd replace any fuzes the blades of which are that corroded.
  12. I read your previous as "The brake lights only work when the ignition is on".
  13. And??? I mean I had a 1982 Ford Cortina where the brake lights only operated when the ignition was live.
  14. @Tailhappy Given the way you're thinking, I'd add coilpack(s) and HT leads (if applicable) to the suspect list.
  15. @Kt1966 (1) should read more like "The cup holder doesn't fit my cup".
  16. 3rded. Annoyingly, this could still have scored that disc enough to need new discs and pads.
  17. You live in Scotland man!!!
  18. I'd sooner have the higher capacity battery, particularly in a diesel "just in case..."
  19. Volkswagen AktienGesellschaft. AG is the German (language) word for the legal statii of "Limited (Ltd)" and "Public Limited Company (PLC)". Brands of car covered by VAG include Audi, Bentley, Cupra, Jetta, Lamborghini, Porsche, SEAT, Škoda and Volkswagen.
  20. So can I, but ABS is reassuring when you have split mu, like gravel over tarmac on the near side of the car. (Applies whether you have right or wrong hand drive).
  21. The Espera (Chavalier) was an OK motorway hack, cruising smoothly at 70<cough> mph.
  22. They're 2 different things. A "sniffer test" is a chemical test for evidence of exhaust gases in the coolant. A compression test is a measurement of how much intake gases are compressed during the engine's compression stroke.
  23. @lol-lol - S BOAT S. Point taken about Poole?
  24. Bad assumption. It could be a misaligned thrust bearing. That's easily identified if you've heard one before, and just requires the thrust bearing rather than the clutch assembly replacing so the bill is less than a replacement clutch.
