  1. Hello, I got my car back from the workshop today. Can confirm that only the display unit (5E3919605) got replaced under warranty. The previous display unit was hardware H47, now the new one is H49. They also did some software update to my DSG gearbox which was a separate matter.
  2. Thanks for asking! Yes, it's covered by warranty here 👍
  3. To update on my case - they said it's the first unit to face the reported problem in Singapore! The whole headunit will need to be replaced, parts coming by Thursday. Have left the car with them as this is causing my 12v battery to be drained overnight.
  4. Just started getting this issue yesterday! Mine's a 2022 Mk4 unit. Thanks for sharing the tip on disconnecting the white cable - I'll see if my agent can do it as a short term fix.
  5. The problem with Octavia Mk4 is the aircon and vehicle settings are handled by the headunit also. 3rd party OEM will need to interface with those systems and have similar UI so that you can still access aircon/vehicle settings. It was easier with the mk3 Octavia coz that generation use physical buttons if I recall correctly.
  6. These are my immediate observation after a day of driving - 1) the lag when adjusting aircon/browsing headunit functions immediately after booting the car is gone 2) the rear reverse sensor beeping tone has changed slightly. Hard to explain but it's quite obvious 3) front reverse sensor beeping tone is unchanged but volume got softer. Had to adjust the volume upward to maintain the desired decibel setting. 4) Previously the Park Assist function would sometime trigger when mistaking carpark gantry as a car close in front. With latest firmware, this seems to have resolved already
  7. Hi all, Just sent in my pre-FL mk4 for year1 servicing and requested agent to update my firmware. They updated to the below details. Will try it out to see if any difference versus old firmware. Old firmware never had any stability issues, only a brief period of lag when trying to adjust aircon or select drive mode immediately after starting the car. New firmware: Hardware: H56 Software: 1985 Display unit/control panel hardware: H47 Display unit/control panel software: 2103 Navigation database: 20.8 Media Codec: 3.1.4 Old firmware: Hardware: H56 Software: 1889 Display unit/control panel hardware: H47 Display unit/control panel software: 2103 Navigation database: 20.8 Media Codec: 3.1.4
  8. Good info. I really like the facelift tail lamps and hope it can be easily retrofitted to the pre-facelift mk4. If anyone has the same idea and is going to attempt it, pls keep me updated! 👍
  9. If park assist is referring to this function below, then I need to issue a correction as my RS does not come with it. I also do not have the "P+Steering wheel" icon next to the reverse camera feed. The dealer only advertised Park Distance Control for my RS. However, I do have the park assist button which brings up the reverse camera and activates front/rear sensors when below 15km/h. The presence of the button caused the confusion to arise at my end.
  10. My RS with production date May 2022 also has park assist included.
  11. Pls see the screenshot of the long coding I did for high beam memory below
  12. I suggest you bring your car to a trusted workshop where they can run the dashcam wire through the roof lining and to your car's fuse box. My car came with a dashcam fitted by the dealer and the wiring was done this way, rather than plugging into the USB-C port behind the rear view mirror.
  13. Driving in Singapore is just like around downtown London (lambeth/westminister etc). Traffic lights every 500m to 2km. We do have motorways but the longest is 30km and they have congestion during peak hours. I thought that diesel can get at least 8l/100km while driving in these scenario. In term of temperature, I would say it's for summer or warm day driving. I have no experience with winter fuel economy.
  14. If you are doing mainly city driving on your VRS, pls note the petrol variant fuel consumption is much higher. My mk4 rs tsi consume 11-12l per 100km around town. Diesel would be at least 50% better than that. Only on majority freeway/highway then the petrol variant can get much better fuel economy similar to diesel.
  15. Thank you so much for fixing my non-working easy entry! My RS would give function not available error when trying to enable easy entry for driver seat. After following your steps for control unit 36 and 6, the easy entry setting for driver and passenger seat in my headunit is now working after I set both to enabled!
  16. For NZ driving, I would say the RS will shine when overtaking other cars on the countryside South island highways where it's mostly 1 lane per direction. Off topic a bit - I am doing a road trip in South Island on a rental Tesla. The torque is similar to my personal Octavia RS back at home - it's useful when I need brief burst of speed (up till 140~km/h) for overtaking other cars.
  17. I have DCC on my octavia rs. it really makes a difference when I selected comfort mode - the ride quality on highways and over street bumps are more comfortable. I strongly recommend that you keep this option. If you don't take the leather/suedia seat, I think you can find an upholstery shop in your area that can install leather replacement at a lower cost although I think the quality won't be the same. Not sure if fabric seat comes with power & memory function - it does offer the benefit of mirror dip during reversing. But it's not a deal breaker function IMO
  18. Reporting my results with long coding for MY22 Octavia RS - Seat belt warning had 4 options shown under long coding. Option 1 (default) is EU and option 2 is USA. No idea what is option 3 and 4 for. Show fuel volume to be replenished - not working via long coding. App threw "function not available" error. I had to use OCA to enable this instead. Rear DRL lights - app threw "function not available" error when trying to set value to ON. Enabled via OCA successfully High beam memory - successfully enabled via long coding.
  19. Well said! I mostly use the front socket as a USB power outlet, so it's mitigated by the 2 usb-c ports at the front. But it's still useful for other electronics like vacuum cleaner which you so mentioned. For tire compressor, have you considered those powered by portable battery pack? I find those quite convenient!
  20. If your vRS doesn't come with the engine cover, the service centre should have spare stocks to install on site as that was intended by Skoda. Suggest to ask the service centre if they have spare engine cover stocks on hand.
  21. My dealer (actually VW themselves) threw in a "Skoda gift box" which among freebies, came with one foldable umbrella that fit within the door. Its a green 2 layer box something like this one below.
  22. I would like to have the front fog lamps in memory when the Auto headlamp is activated. So if the fog lamp was previously turned on, it should also turn on upon next startup. Possible to have this done?
  23. Ah I see. So the OP was actually referring to the heat mat.. the screenshot sounded so scary so I thought it was something more serious. Im not aware of any other recalls and I certainly hope there wont be anymore
  24. According to ERWIN, my new ride is a May 2022 producton unit. So far not impacted by the DSG recall, but has the engine compartment and heat protection mat recalls. Probably addressed during the time it sat idle in the warehouse but i'll remind the Service Centre when i pick it up this weekend.
  25. Can i clarify when you refer to MY23 batch, does it refer to Year of Manufacture 2023 as well or its usually 1 year earlier?
