  1. Some people use their cars lots and do many miles and are not going to do Oil & filter services several times a year and need not do. Fuel and Oil with detergents and runs long enough to heat oil, components and not have condensation in the engine. Short trips,.cold start short trips is when Fixed Servicing regimes of Oil & Filter changes are recommended, but in the UK that might still be annual and not done 6 monthly.
  2. @lol-lol The change of circumference of tyres is something done commonly where there are mileage limits on lease cars. Clocking by another means. Something that the DfT / DVSA must well be aware of, but that does not mean that it can be stopped or detected by them and with their resources.
  3. @lol-lol 20 to 30 mile buffers really not enough in Scotland or many other places. Last run home from Stirling it was just as well i had charged more than usually required. East of Perth there started to be ROAD CLOSED to Glamis notices. 15 miles later there was still no more info, then the Diversion Sign appeared. I ignored that and took a country road which is near parallel but does head up higher. It had some flooding on it, but it turned out to be shorter plus i used less electric and regened more over the last 5 miles down towards home. As to when up the Ski roads and into the Cairgorms a road closure can maybe be to get back south and need getting to chargers and these can be very hit or miss if working or not.
  4. ^^^ Not necessary to physically change for different circumference tyres, an BEV can just have the Software change as done with e-bikes to change the circumference. Change the assistance and speed that can be achieved while pedalling. I know someone that has spent years Clocking cars including Taxi / Private hire cars and fleet cars. He also increases the power available with BEV,s, increases the Speed Limiters etc, even makes them invisible to Over the Air updates or TRACKING.
  5. Yaris Hybrids are Hybrids as they have always been. No plugs. Toyota have the longest and most experience of Hybrids. But then there is no magic involved unless you stay up a hill and can run down without the engine and putting electricity into the batteries.
  6. @Graham Butcher & buying a used PHEV is just too risky IMO as you have no idea if it was run mainly as an electrified car mainly driven on electric and the ICE seldom being fired up. Recently i read on this forum someone saying their mothers Yaris Hybrid kept getting a flat battery. That is not uncommon for people who think a mile or 2 to the shops each day can be done on electric only and no engine firing up to charge up the batteries. Since i can register any car or van as Disabled class and am exempt from VED i am still looking and considering what 2 get as my next vehicle for longer trips. I think it will be a diesel i go for and not a Petrol MHEV. Certainly not a BEV or PHEV.
  7. @lol-lol How much are you paying at MFG 69 or 79 pence ? My last 600 miles was not a small costs for charging. The first 150 miles was from the home charge. Then i was 65 pence or 70 pence a kWh and twice 55 pence a kWh. 3.1 miles a kWh so 31 miles for £5.50. About the same as a petrol getting 35 MPH. But 31-35 miles for £7 is not a tiny cost for charging. £7.90 @ MFG is just crazy IMO. PS. Not a work journey so every penny spent is from my pocket and nobody is paying my fuel.
  8. There is a Software / Recall Action / workshop Update to stop this happening.
  9. In the UK the DQ400-e DSG Oil & Filter changes are scheduled as at 40,000 miles. Service fill capacity shows 5.0-5.2 litres & Total Dry Capacity as 7.2-7.5 litres. New or rebuilt DSG.
  10. ?where all these parts / new parts and tyres done at the same time? Hard to guess then what might be the issue. Simple one to try is adjust tyre pressures to see if noise changes. Prop Shaft coupling condition was surely checked at the time work was done. Hope so anyway. ? Has the bevel gear had an oil change? Has the rear diff had an oil change>
  11. Thanks. How many miles has it done, and has the DSG servicing been every 40,000 miles?
  12. @mikeo84 I had to look at your profile to see you show as having a 2014 vRS. So what is it, TSI or TDI, Manual or DSG?
  13. Service History would be interesting to be told. Who owned it or it was registered to would be interesting. Some actual information. I assume it was not a car Motability owned and sold. So when was this low mileage car serviced last? PS. Is the Warranty valid by the Servicing that was done? Has the car not had a Low oil or Low Oil pressure warning light or message showing?
  14. Skoda Mk3 & Mk4 Fabia from 2021 to present are available with 1.0 MPI engines.
  15. ^^^^Total confusion. & location location location. As to Differential services. WTF is above all about. A VAQ diff was @ 3 years / 30,000 miles in the UK and now with Mk4 Octavia seemingly @ 2 years / 20,000 miles. & some Service Desk staff will say 'Optional', and many have no idea what a VAQ Diff is. Rs DSG Filters, Wet clutch DSG,s, change when you change the Oil. Dry Clutch DQ200 DSG filters are in the MCU. So not a service item if you do change just the 2 oils.
  16. I was given a lift this morning and had no idea what the big SUV was that arrived it looked Range Rover sort of size and the intetior was lovely. It was a KGM Torres. Only a 1.5 petrol hybrid. The guy has it for a week long tesr drive. Brand new. He is not goinb to get a new one but is getting a pre owned. Much cheapness.
  17. It is a nice feature. But on any cars i have had for about the past 10 years you ticked / enable that. In fhs opfions screen. Like driver door lock only or take me home lights .
  18. Who had it or where was it before it got that 1 litre of oil. It could be various things up. Previous drivers. Maybe about 1/3rd short of oil is never good for an engins.
  19. From 2018 petrol cars will have GPF,s. Not so kean on short trips. Just a mile or 2. Cold weather. But few reporting issues yet.
  20. Surely your cars wipers can work to clear snow or rain when stopped in traffic or going slow. At a MOT the car is not driven to check the wipers.
  21. I have been using Tesla chargers for the past couple of weeks because not off my route. 'Much cheapness' as far as Public charging. 00.00-04.00 28 pence a kWh. 04.00-09.00 36 pence a kWh. 09.00-20.00 56 pence a kWh. 20.00-00.00 36 pence a kWh. For the next few days i am going away i will be charging at Instavolt because next to where i am staying and 60 pence a kWh using the App from 8.00 pm - 7.00 am.
  22. @Warrior193 Where have you seen or are seeing this recommended change regime for Anti freeze / summer coolant / anti rust fluid, AKA Coolant? Anyplace from VW Group or Skoda? Check the Strength of the Coolant for the Region used. The Service should include that, but very few do. Where are you seeing the price of a Coolant Change at main Dealers now that Cam belt / Water pumps with a TDI or Cam Belt with a TSI is not at 50,000 miles / 5 years?
  23. @kieth So a Euro 5 Mk2 1.2 TSI with timing chain to a Euro 6 1.0 TSI with GPF from 2018? What BHP / PS is your 1.2 TSI is it a 105 ps and what bhp / ps of 1.0 TSI are you looking at 110ps. 6 speed manual? There are various Modifying threads on here, remapping etc. Worth a search.
  24. No reason there should be TPMS issues. You just reset the TPMS when you adjust pressures or change tyres. Then reset or check and rest periodically.
