  1. People are driving about in Demonstrators, Courtesy cars, Fleet / Leased vehicles with all sorts of power trains and being Tracked. That is as well as those with Black Boxes they know are fitted.
  2. ^^^ Good stuff, hopefully they know how sh!te some Public Charging is especially in Scotland. How people have to stop and start and try charger after charger and even leave without having charged their vehicle. Pity they will NOT be aware of how many BEV,s are not parked up off road at Registered Addresses for the Registered keeper or on the Electoral Roll.
  3. @WildGoose Clearly not for you.... Na, you are working on funny figures. I have done 80,000 miles now in EV,s. & have ICE cars as well. Devaluation is not an issue when you buy ones that are already devalued and it is a keeper. Like depreciation on any vehicle, depends on how long you run them. Where do you live at or what is your job to be getting £300 more expensive Insurance Quotes over an ICE vehicle of the same value & age?
  4. Nonsense on charging losses. If getting 50 kWh needs 55 kW @ 27 pence a kWh normal tariff, then £15 to go maybe 150-200 miles. 25 pence a kWh, 10 kWh £2.50 taking you 38 miles. So £5 gives 76 miles, ..............£6.20 a gallon. 50 MPG.
  5. If that is so with a NISAN then do not get a Nissan. Actually not so in many the case. & there are great Mobile EV Techs. Doing Nissans, Renaults, TESLA, Porsche etc etc. I bought my EV from a dealership that has KIA not MG. Trained & Qualified Techs, VAT Registered and they Serviced the Car and i have a Valid Battery Warranty. & I have an Aftermarket BEV Warranty for the vehicle. Cost less than for an ICE Vehicle.
  6. ^^^ That is where you can check. Sadly there can even be 'Safety Critical' Recalls by the DVSA / DfT / DVLA in the UK where VW Group / Skoda should recall vehicles that might not show on the SKODA site. Be sure when the Skoda Service Desk tell you they can not tell you actually what the RECALL details are, that 'YOU ARE THE KEEPER / OWNER & Responsible for the vehicles safety. So DATA PROTECTION does not apply to you. Corporate Responsibility from them does not MEAN SKODA SECRET SERVICE SERVICE CAMPAIGNS. Need to know basis and you do not need to know.
  7. I see drivers that do not bother that there is a 40 or 50 minute max charging time then £1 a Minute or a £30 fine. Even a £55 fine, or idling time penalty at TESLA Chargers. Van drivers that say, 'really, i need the charge', or one Taycan driver i know that when i pointed out he was a couple of hours over the Max Charge time, to mind my own business. That sort of carry on is why some people hit the emergency stop button when car just abandoned charging. Worse still not charging but locked in. There are people that leave a car so it is not locked in though. Personally i always go to chargers showing RED to see if i can reset them. @lol-lol I know VAT policy is 4 nations wide. It was 'Court' i was questioning. I have been to a Tribrunal against the DWP but it was not A Court.
  8. @karmichael I strongly suggest that you use a Garage / Technician with the VW licensed equipment so that they get TPI,s & any updates / enhancements & that they can do them, and even warranty work with some places. What servicing was done, was it the pollen filter and brake fluid?
  9. ^^^ 'Absolutely'. As it is 'We' who need electricity to charge the car and do not claim back VAT have to get what we need. Maybe the Big Battery vehicles need just 60 % of a charge, which for a 32 kW battery car could be needing 100% charged to get 110 miles.
  10. Skoda / VW Group have MHEV,s like the Octavia,s. Mild Hybrid, 1.0 or 1.5 TSI. As members here might have.. Toyota have Mild Hybrids like Honda, Suzuki & others have. Decades of Japanese experience.
  11. Evolution13 replied to Lee01's topic in Motoring News
70 MPH UK Speed limits some roads, 60 mph NSL,s how much power is needed, and for towing is there not enough torque for the NSL,s while towing, UK routes including hill routes?
  12. ^^^ 'A UK Court', is that a court in England, Great Britain ?
  13. @nta16 It is not an Incorrect Pressure if you reset with the Spare of a different size. Maybe people are sitting with The Skinny SPACE SAVER, or Skinny Saver of Space steel wheel at 60 psi in the boot, and fit it and do not check the pressure. As it is there are Skoda Superb with Haldex (AWD) that have a far too small Factory fit spare carried that messes up the ABS / Haldex etc, CC or ACC. But then with the spare on of an odd one out, do not use Cruise Control, after all you should be reducing your speed. Different compound, tread, size, weight. Below, my tyres just now. When the sun comes up the front tyres pressure will go up a few PSI and the temp will go up. Once driving the Fronts might rise 2 or 3 psi & the rears 4 or 5. Once out on a fast road the 4 tyres might show different PSI,s & temps. Yes i know showing in BAR, that is how i set the inflator.
  14. @WildGoose What numbers have you done, are they based on having to Public Charge and pay more than 50 pence a kWh?. Because if you can charge using a 3 pin plug at under 10 pence for 6 hours a day or even just at 30 pence standard tariff to run a BEV for local, short trips and even occasional longer & charging at Public Chargers. Used EV,s are dirt cheap. 10 pence a kWh, 10 kWh £1.00 Get even just 3.1 kWh as i am, 31 miles for £1. But say 30 pence a kWh, 10 kWh £3.00. 3.5 miles a kWh = 35 miles. 50 pence a kWh, 10 kWh £5.00
  15. The Tyre does not have to be at the correct pressure as the cars system has no idea The Pressure or Heat unless you have a Car with that system and On Wheel Sensors. It knows the Circuference of the tyre. & that can be reset with a SPARE WHEEL on. Actually you can set the TPMS with one tyre or 2 tyres at different pressures. You can set all 4 at different pressures. TRY IT, go out and let one tyre down, or inflate it more and reset the TPMS. The car then registers that Circumference. The TPMS then alerts a change if that happens. Usually a loss of circumference, but it can be a tyre heating up and expanding. Bearing / Brake seizing heating up the hub, so wheel so air in tyre.
  16. People / Drivers are discovering that a PHEV that are for runs mainly or exclusively on electric is 'Simply not clever'. Not clever for the ICE and its longevity. Oil & Plugs and GPF. Actually Hybrids are not much use for a mile or 2 to the shops and back because the engine needs to fire up for both batteries to charge.
  17. I had no idea that engine was fitted to a DQ200 DSG, there is over 400 Nm torque is there not. DQ200 DSG everyplace else a 250 Nm, max torque limit.
  18. Lets see just how long the Forties Pipeline keeps flowing. It should have bee n started to be replaced 2 decades ago. Elephant in the room that the UK Energy Minister and others seem to fail to recognise.
  19. @lol-lol very true, that is what they say. But then there are so many liars out there. They fail to mention how much profits can be made buying Redundant Rigs or Unsafe ones from bigger companies and running them cheaper and taking the VERY BIG Tax breaks the UK Government / Tax Payers give them to decommission in lands far far away, and to mothball them off Inverness. George Osborne & Sir Iain Wood made the wealthy very wealthy, and the workers pay very high taxes and stopped them being Self Employed and getting dividends. The North Sea is profitable for many, especially the Crown Estates and supposedly UK citizens, but that is not how things actually work. I was working in the Offshore Supply industry in 1980 as were my friends onshore or off, and i have followed closely what goes on and then especially since my son went offshore 16 years ago.
  20. UK Refineries are going. Diesel is hardly a waste product, it is early in the refining but the refining is being done for the lighter products, nobody is just refining for the Heavy fuels and products. As it was the Electricity / Energy to run them was up among the most expensive in the world. Oil & Gas used to generate that electricity. The Americas have the most supply of Oil in the World. There is the biggest producer of Crude Oil. The USA seems to be seizing others oil while it is being transported. This is 2026. A whole new world.
  21. Where they annoy can be at junctions, road levels different, humps etc. Usually Full Beam on or proper Light Bars on lets the muppet know IME. I prefer to be seen in Fog and be able to seen. There is a Highway Code in the UK and Legislation concerning Fog Lights. They are not spot lights, or 'Auxiliary' lights. Special Lights for special people. My favourite case on inappropriate lights are Front Fog lights that come on automatically as reverse selected. As if there was no others to annoy the driver could not put the full beam on.
  22. North Sea Oil & Gas taken from under the North Sea is not owned by British Companies. It is sold on the Global Market. Many many new exploration licences are owned by companies in Israel.
  23. Bright LED,s are Daytime / Daylight lights, not bright when Full Beam on. Or should not be.
  24. So global Gas prices might well be going up. Many seem to forget that oil does not just flow though pipelines, natural gas is required to push it along. UK Energy security not great as far as Fuels, Gas or even electricity.
  25. .Sorry my bad, 6,500 miles not 6,000 miles for some things a Dealership Employee might try telling you not valid for a warranty claim. Free work.
