  1. You can confirm that using the link below. Enter your VIN (on the left hand side of first page) or choose your model and then drill down through the parts. https://7zap.com/en/
  2. As I said above, it's a lock/ switch problem. I did the search on here for you and this is the first post I found:-
  3. Your picture of the mirror looks like it has some extra curvature on the right but only you can tell. One final point is that your mirror may have a "knock back" mounting. Try to move the whole mirror assembly left and right in case it is has moved a little off centre.
  4. Two possible causes. The security pin that stops the wheel being turned when locked has failed and is jamming the mechanism OR the switch assembly at the back of the lock has failed. The latter is a more common problem and there are pictures in threads on here that will help you to take out the lock and the switch to make a repair.
  5. Please explain further? How could I tell? Thanks Here is an image of a typical drivers' mirror. You can see a dotted line on the glass in this version beyond which the mirror curvature is increased to show what is happening further out. Octavia mirrors often have a solid rather than dotted line. If you don't have this change of curvature then someone has used a passenger side mirror from a LHD car. The glass is available by itself; you don't need to buy a complete mirror.
  6. Push the mirror outer edge as it may still have more angle available in the mount for the glass. Then adjust the mirror back to your position of choice.
  7. Sounds like the plastic peg that connects the regulator to the window has broken. See Haynes Manual for photos and instructions. Not too difficult to replace.
  8. First step is to disconnect the battery again for a few minutes then reconnect and try again.
  9. I looked at sourcing my alarm from aliexpress and also a well known auction site. The aliexpress alarm was long delivery and my neighbours and wife would never have waited!. The auction site units appeared to be old alarms taken out of cars when replacing with new ones! The Varta cells used in the alarm unit can be found on line but are often not wire ended or slightly bigger and different form factor. Several threads on here with photos showing how to cut open the alarm and replace the cells. As the car came out of the factory (assuming no parking assist) there is nothing in the boot that makes a noise. Look for something that appears to be added later.
  10. Alarm battery is soldered to the printed circuit board inside the sealed unit. Skoda say the alarm should be changed at (7?) years. Usual fault symptom, due to its battery failure, is that the alarm goes off by itself - randomly and at night (ask my neighbours!) I had to replace my alarm unit last year so same age as your car at present when first a problem. I would accept the occasional beep while driving then replace the unit when it goes off when parked. Also check to the fuse supplying power to the alarm. With the ignition on the small battery is being topped up and should not allow beeps from the alarm whilst driving. The alarm is situated behind the front drivers side wheel arch. I would not rule out that the beep sound is coming from the parking sounder situated behind the lower trim between the doors on the passenger side. Try cleaning the parking sensors.
  11. Both are activated by the reversing light switch on the the gearbox. Not unknown for the switch and particularly its wiring/plug to be damaged/corroded as its usually underneath the car.
  12. See possible causes here: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/01317
  13. This was a problem on the Mk1 Octavia and the Mk 2 problem is probably of the same cause. The Mk1 was allowed to start at low cranking revs when cold but when hot, starting was inhibited until a higher cranking speed was achieved. So the question is why is the cranking speed too low? As said by others, the two major problems are a battery that no longer produces a high enough current, and poor connections introducing resistance into the circuit between battery and starter motor. As said by MicMac, try a second battery for a jump start. If it works then try a newer battery in the car. Also check for corrosion at all connections, especially at the earth strap on the engine.
  14. The mk 2 has a failed light warning for brake light bulb failure. This was not the case with the mk1. My son had an audi A3 and the glow plug light lit soon after after he bought his three year old car. Not knowing that the glow plug light was used to indicate all failures he booked the car into an Audi garage for an expensive diagnostics - for a failed bulb!
  15. As i know well, the garages were put under great pressure to apply the notorious dieselgate fix. You can check yourself whether not it has been applied by looking near the spare wheel for a small label containing 23R6.
  16. I assume that 1.6GR is meant to be CR (Common Rail) [Engine code CAYC]. If yours had the dieselgate "fix" it seems that once one injector fails the others follow soon after. Faulty cruise control is more likely to be caused by a faulty cruise control switch or related wiring or clutch switch. You need to run a diagnostics check with history.
  17. Also check the stone guards behind the disc brakes. The mountings rust away.
  18. This should help: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/17811/P1403/005123 Looks like you may need to replace the EGR.
  19. You can download a pdf of your owners handbook using the link in the first topic of the "sticky" section, above the live posts.
  20. It is normal and is explained in some handbooks. To avoid wear on the wiper blades, it will choose one of three possible park positions. Hence the twitch as it may move the blade to a higher or lower park position.
  21. This fault was on my car when I bought it at 3 years old. I was told by an expert in canbus that if the radio works then there is nothing to worry about. Further searches suggested that is true as long as the two ends on the canbus are working without electrical noise being introduced into the wiring. The fault code disappeared many years later after the wiring was disturbed so I assume it was just a poor connection.
  22. Depends on the size of the bike. Long legged people like myself wit a bigger bike also have to remove the front wheel too. And mine is an estate! As I have a towbar then this would be ideal as it can carry more weight/bikes than most: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144914432640?hash=item21bd92c280%3Ag%3Aa~oAAOSwLh9jz8sa&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4JpSNAEfPOY01av%2Bq829%2BEpGhqcKnvsGscqS4yXUCM97mPEfthWldYl5%2FgJbxKiyhjIqpbY4j9ykq1Que%2BarkAwhGcNqxTsiS3%2BOxsvIm8WHcCJkMsB4unSHCBBIOYgYrJOYlbVFw9M8RyrBzovAaHQlG%2BUUk0FYIBB%2FmJMk4e8is6Eh4vZ60xcU3IqnR6btJnHPHU1gQ6vcGki5il40EoTxVYy1arFjuZB7amQX2bXgWseeIl1B0m0%2FUae0HlfOOjxrANhuRZTRnlnqjmGGaqoL59eht8QYJkO8RuFdeSnj|tkp%3ABk9SR7aY_rG-YQ&LH_Auction=1
  23. The common reasons for the car locking you out is that the microswitch in the driver's door that senses door open is not working or you have a wire(s) broken in the rubber trunking between the body and the door - the rubber thing you see when you open the door. Easy check is to see if the door open light comes up on the dash when you open the door.
  24. Try removing the battery for half an hour to force a software reboot. One of my puddle lights in a mirror stopped working. The Skoda garage fixed it by enabling it again in the software. If you can find anyone near you who has VDS and can offer to help, get them to check that power mirrors and mirror lights are enabled. Have you had problems with door locking recently?
  25. No, basically tracking means making sure the wheels are both pointing in the same direction. The tracking can be out be after changing the ball joints if you are one or more turns out on the ball joint thread before you locked it in place
