  1. Recommended by whom? The best recommendation is to use common sense and local knowledge to make your own decisions.
  2. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Fuel_Trim_Info
  3. There is no dehumidification unless the ambient air is already hot and humid and the Aircon is set to chill it, in which case some of the humidity condenses out as it hits the cold evaporator element and drains from the airbox through a pipe onto the road below. EPC light will generally come on if there is an emissions control fault, it's probably not worth worrying about unless it happens again.
  4. I've never heard of a timing belt failure on a 1.4 16V Fabia, not even one in the twelve years I've been a regular on here. I inspected mine at 125k and it looked like new, as for the small belt that connects the two cams, it doesn't even stretch. The reason this engine doesn't put any strain on the belts is that it uses roller rockers to lift the valves. I'm not saying don't change it, I'm saying that I seriously doubt it's necessary unless it's suffered oil contamination.
  5. If you can keep the tinworm under control a car can last almost indefinitely simply replacing items as they eventually wear out.
  6. Whoop whoop! Did someone call the safety police? Given that it's not possible to inspect these mods then it's reasonable to assume it's been done well enough to pass muster @chimaera
  7. Try unsticking the wipers BEFORE switching them on!
  8. If the head hasn't been machined flat you'll be replacing that gasket forever more, also use the Temac MLS gasket, not some horrible BGA type composite turd.
  9. Ken, a SIX MONTH warranty on an 18 year old car, have you been drinking? 30 days is the statutory minimum and September was three months ago, so...
  10. Binding, it's where the parts grip each other and cannot be released without damage, a helicoil prevents stainless fasteners from binding, it's standard engineering practice.
  11. I gave you my professional opinion, I've used them for forty years and they're a proper job, I've also used them in stainless valve blocks so stainless fasteners can be used and correctly torqued without spalling.
  12. Still don't need to disconnect the battery to attach those to each terminal.
  13. You don't need to disconnect the battery to charge it.
  14. Helicoil isn't a bodge, it's better than a new part, a steel thread instead of alloy, much stronger.
  15. Incredibly common, VAG group springs seem to be made from glass, British roads don't help though.
  16. It only needs a new hub nut, not a complete driveshaft, It's two hours labour plus parts plus VAT.
  17. I'm just an old skool engineer, more concerned with how well stuff works rather than what it looks like, people seem to get that idea mostly arse about face on here.
  18. Jesus, just put the bulbs back in already, this is so tiresome!
