  1. Mines rattier than that and you don't have to worry about blanking your number plate because it's public domain information, it's designed to be seen even at night.
  2. Doh, I didn't realise the trouble he'd gone to to fool me into thinking he has a VRS, even his username, it's like people who stick M badges onto Beemers, I mean seriously...
  3. The trouble is the VRS has a different deeper bumper, so...
  4. I expect they'll be too wide to fit since the Scirocco is based on a Golf floorpan, not a Polo.
  5. Incredibly the VRS is not approved for towing in the UK, so you won't find a kit for it, you'll have to adapt one for it and you'll probably need to mod the bumper to suit.
  6. Snap ring, refitting is easier, just wallop it with a big copper mallet.
  7. Leave it on the car, do it in situ, the hub nut is not that tight but I undid mine before jacking it up, you could do it with a rattle gun if you have one, failing that put two of the wheel bolts back in and lock the hub with a long lever against the ground while you undo it.
  8. ...or you could just ignore the manual and crack on, you'll need a new hub nut, not a flange.
  9. Just because the boot's intact doesn't mean the joint itself isn't worn.
  10. Diesels don't rev remember, think of a big rig articulated lorry, tractor unit usually only about 350 bhp, just imagine the torque figure, that's with a turbo the size of a dustbin lid!
  11. You really need a torque limited remap, 456 NM is too much for the standard unit, either start dropping to fifth when you hoof it, remap it or fit a stronger clutch.
  12. If you remove the rear light clusters from your Fabia it will become very obvious that you won't get a round peg into that square hole!
  13. That first sentence is tough to decode, Graham Taylor much?
  14. Try ignoring the silly thing, my guess is lots of short trips has led to low voltage when cold.
  15. Don't drive the car like that, use the gearbox and rev it through some more or you'll eat the clutch and break the gearbox!
  16. In that case the job is easy, remove the driveshafts and the gearbox, replace the flywheel and clutch assembly together with the clutch slave and put it all back together again.
  17. I'd do the clutch by paying someone else to fit it, you need an engine support beam and a four poster to do it easily, if you don't have these then you'll be writhing under the car with two trolley jacks and wrestling with a 70kg dead weight while lying on your back in a puddle.
  18. Blimey, it's all gone a bit "Rise of the footsoldier" in here 🙂
  19. Plastic gangsters car 😆
  20. It just means they can buy it cheap and sell it dear.
  21. Stretch boots are turds, you don't need to remove the track rod end if the driveshaft will come out, you do if it won't, try it and see.
  22. Just replace the boot, the joint is held on by a snap ring IIRC.
  23. Emissions on the 1.4 16V might be valve stem seals if it smokes when you blip the throttle and if it uses oil, however it's more likely to need a new pre-cat lambda probe and a good run out. Suspension stuff is easy and cheap to fix. The car is well worth saving, fixed and with a fresh MOT it's worth a grand all day long and it'll be more reliable than the 1.2 TSI to boot, newer ain't better I'm afraid.
