  1. @Joss1733 Please do not just go adding AdBlue to see how much you can get in. ? How many miles have you driven since getting the car? If you are going to ask anyone ask the Master Tech where you got the car from or at another main dealership. ? Is there really no way of knowing the range the Adblue will be giving on the car or on the App on a Smart Phone? *** See the very bottom screen shot.*** NOTICE. Do not overfill. Also pay attention to the 30 seconds to allow the system to register the Adblue added.

If you like how it drives then the DSG should be fine. Buy a warranty when the manufacturers one expires and one that covers the DSG. Now clutch packs needing replaced is not an issue really & not as expensive as they were & not much reports of MCU (Mechatronic Control Unit) failing with the DQ200 fitted to a 1.0TSI.

Welcome. That is DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG's you will be talking about. Get a 5 year Warranty before the car is first registered. Things should certainly have improved in the past 3 years. But it takes to 4 years before we know. They have been pretty good with 1.0 TSI's and not much issues reported with 1.5 TSI's. ? What are you looking at getting? A Karoq. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/506167-has-anyone-taken-delivery-of-a-factory-order-15tsi-dsg
  4. It is only about stopping the wheels / tyres being locked up and also allowing you to steer when you slam on the brakes. If there is a poor surface, diesel spills, ice on road, gravel etc or just crap tyres the ABS might well do very little as far as the tyres getting grip, as many find out. If anyone thinks the ABS is not working or just to see how good it might be then find some safe space like an empty car park and at 50 mph try doing an emergency stop with just hitting the brake pedal. Try it in the wet, try it on snow.
  5. The sales person doing the handover should have explained about the issue that required a Recall to have the Engine Cover of 2.0 TSI's removed and that the new improved non issue covers are not ready so new cars are delivered without them. They should have told you that when they are available you will be contacted.
  6. Sorry to hear this sad story. Someone can help i hope, and the car probably needs to be with someone else other than those that have it now.
  7. Talk with the Dealer Principal, talk with the Warranty Manager and the Master Tech. The car was in for a service and they changed the coolant and were aware of an issue, within the warranty cover period. Was the 'Contaminated Coolant' they identified during the period of the cars 3 Year Warranty? It was within the 4 years. ? Why did they think it was contaminated, do they think you did it? They are a Participating Dealer as far as Skoda Fixed Price Servicing and maintenance & the first 30 Minutes of a Diagnosis is £60. If they are taking over 30 minutes then £110 it will be, and if it is a warranty claim and approved and they are charging for the Diagnosis then £110 be it, but the Water Pump will be covered so still a few hundred quid better off. 8. The Service Desk person at Henrys should have made it clear if the Recall Action was not required or outstanding because it had been carried out as a Skoda Main Dealer is required to when they have a Car through them for a Sale. It might have been carried out at previous visits with the previous keeper / keepers. It was a DVLA Safety Recall on the 1.5 TSI but only on certain Build Dates. That should be clear to the Service Desk staff on the cars Service Record. As to any Software Updates & the most recent management for a DSG that is not unusual that they will not be aware of a TPI.
  9. VW Group / Skoda have never done a RECALL on DSG's in Europe, even when there was a World Wide Recall in 2012 it excluded Europe were they had to start a Service Campaign in 2014, then another in 2017, then TPI's from 2015. As to from 2018, if there is no TPI or Recall Action actually covering the DQ200 DSG you have then that will be that and no Software Update available. When they plug the car in at a service then there will not be one for your car. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions If the car is in for a Service and you feel the DSG is not behaving as it should then maybe ask that the Technician carries out a reset. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/461809-15-tsi-with-7-speed-dsg http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/501404-automatic-gearbox-issues Recall on Engine which is an actual Recall for affected vehicles. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/486906-skoda-recall-info
  10. ^^^ Those have a turbo unlike a MPI which has not.
  11. If it needs a replacement used rear axle then maybe best go to a VW Specialist that can maybe source one and fit it. That is something that Fabia owners have done when they wanted rear disc brakes instead of drums. Maybe a Briskoda member has one for sale. eg http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/419318-disc-rear-axle-swap http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/367738-fabia-tdi-105-rear-disc-conversion
  12. Locked at 10 kmph / 6 mph.
  13. @mitchecDoes that mean that on the car there is nothing available from the car leaving the factory until the car is counting down to not being able to start and you get a warning on the dash. Does it show then the amount of Adblue required and range of what is left?

Did Mitchell's have any story behind the low milage. Ex Motability car maybe. If so that would normally have been Serviced maybe a month before 3 years old and MOT'd early. ? What is the Service Plan that comes with the car, 2 Services, 1 Inspection & 1 Inspection with Extended Scope?
  15. Welcome. I will flag this for a Mod and they can move it to the Octavia section. Hopefully you will get help there.

Is it a Skoda Approved Used car? How many miles and is it FMDSH? That does not mean that it will have been serviced to the Manufacturer's recommendation. There should be a Service Record handed over if a Skoda Approved used car. Maybe it never had the brake fluid done at 3 years. The pollen filter should have been changed at 4 years. The spark plugs if it has done 40,000 miles. Hopefully the hand over is smooth and the salesperson on the ball. Have fun.

It does not matter what virtually all reports were about because it was not just an issue with manuals. There were members here with 1.5 TSI DSG's that had the issue, and had the Software Updates, and their DSG's had a software update and they still got rid of the troublesome cars. So not many reported here but it was not just a 1.5 TSI manual issue but that does not matter for the OP. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/461809-15-tsi-with-7-speed-dsg eg @Georgina @GeoffH Vehicles that are part of the Voluntary Recall Action are part of what the DVLA have as a Safety Recall and Registered Keepers should have been contacted and any car Sold through the VW Dealership network should have had the Software Update or updates, and any vehicle serviced at a Main Dealership should have meant the Owner Keeper was made aware of the available Update and to keep a Warranty Valid they may want to have it done.
  18. It is a 6 speed wet clutch DQ250. No 2.0 TSI or TDI,s got DQ200 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG's that do not need oil changes. I would want this DQ250 DSG to have been serviced, Even if Full Main Dealer Servicing was done over 12 years unlikely they would do it unless the owner asked for it to be done.
  19. That is quite a low mileage. Even though the DSG oil change is @ 40,000 miles i hope it has had one by now even though it has not reached 40,000 miles. The History of the Servicing is rather important. You need to budget for doing fluids, brake, coolant DSG, and Water Pump. Are the tyres OK, matching, brakes looking OK, windscreen not chipped or tiny tiny chips? Those that gave Good Reviews were happy. Those that did not were not.

If it was one of the vehicles that was part of the Service Campaign to have the software update applied then that should have been done. That can be checked. The Service History, Warranty History & any Recall Action / Service Campaign history in the first 3 years should be on the Skoda System that a Main Dealer can access for you. If the car you pick up misbehaves do not accept it.
  21. @ffvrsSounds like you that is what you do need to if you have that problem with them on the roof.
  22. We come back to No Traction No Action. Or not of the kind you want. Is a FWD car on the correct tyres for the job better than a AWD / 4x4 / Part Time AWD on the wrong tyres? We know the answer to that when it is snowy or icy and we have thew right tyres on and drive past some very capable fat lumps of prestige cars on the wrong tyres.
  23. @CarlstonYou never answer what you drive yourself and where when i ask. Do you use any of the tyres you recommend or suggest? The OP never mentioned muddy fields or tracks, they have a Kamiq on 18" wheels.
  24. @StillwaitingforoctaviaYour trade in will be with a Skoda Dealership not Skoda, best check again what they are saying now since cars are selling for so much, not a time to let them try and take advantage and give you less even after so long. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/506409-potential-issue-with-finance Find someone else that will pay what your car is currently worth.
