  1. Show us the emissions test printout; no point in doing anything else before that.
  2. There is no manifold cat on a BKY, as I realised a bit late in the discussion. The pre-cat on an original section is the fat bit up by the four-stud connection to the manifold. Forget about it. Anything but a megabucks genuine replacement won't have it.
  3. This is the original from my other (manual transmission, BKY engine) Polo: I don't remember seeing an aftermarket replacement that has the little pre-cat at the top.
  4. Actually, it's a BKY engine is it? In which case the other cat is at the top end of the first section, unless it's already an aftermarket one on there.
  5. The other one is integrated with the exhaust manifold, yes. Ask him if he's confident enough about his diagnosis that he'll not charge you for it if it doesn't fix it.
  6. Did he even realise that there are two cats?
  7. It has no role in regulating voltage, it just switches things on and off, and manages the CAN and diagnostic communications. Vehicle voltage control module was the most confusing of all the names used for this module. (I think) Skoda/VW decided to simplify (and make more profitable) their aftersales of these units by supplying just the 'high end' 6Q0937049F to cover any replacement of lower-spec 6Q1 and 6Q2 varieties. I have a spare 6Q1 unit I bought out of curiosity recently which I might attempt to fit to my Polo to test if it works and is OK. It's not supposed to be correct for the car, but apart from one row of connectors being in a physically different position, it seems very similar to the suffix C/D versions. I'll try to look at this again in the next few days. There's probably a single connector you can remove temporarily from this unit to see if the drain reduces significantly. XP4 which has the main earth wire on pin 2 seems like a good candidate. Doing this will potentially disrupt a lot of systems though, so don't lock the car with this connector out. What I suggest you try is to unplug this connector, leave driver's door open, then come back after half an hour to measure the mV across fuse 22.
  8. Climatronic or Climatic system?
  9. ETKA's full of diagrams that look little or nothing like the real part.
  10. I'd be tempted to prioritise the compression test, in view of the coilpack swapping result, but if you do want a new servo pipe, this seems to be a cheaper source: Volkswagen / Seat / Skoda Vacuum Pipe With<Br>Non-Return Valve 6Q2612041AL - LLLParts PR-T70 is the 3-cylinder 12-valve engine.
  11. Use an up to date catalogue and you see the DGTE https://www.lllparts.co.uk/en/catalogs/skoda
  12. Or DGTE as he discovered/posted 3 hours ago.
  13. Might be a sticker on the cambelt top cover, or on V5c registration document the Engine Number section should have a few letters ahead of the numeric part which are the code. Example of a cambelt cover sticker with engine code ringed:
  14. I don't have, no. Others surely can tell you pros/cons though.
  15. Hmm, I wouldn't expect them to get it wrong, but not sure why they disagree with that link I posted.
  16. Part numbers for your engine shown as item 7s here: LLLParts
  17. Yes mate, cut down massively in a few stages. Almost within gov guidelines now! 😆 Weight continues to drop nicely, but more and more slowly as I run out of body fat to dump. Currently at about 13%, my target possibly a touch less but not much. Difficult to know how much of the weight loss is because of the booze reduction, and how much the other carbs; almost certainly a bit of both. Another video I can thoroughly recommend: Also recently enjoyed: Amazon.co.uk : drink david nutt
  18. Must be the relay I think. Contacts welded themselves together so it's always on.
  19. forced regeneration diesel particulate filter vcds - YouTube Must be something useful in one of these videos?
  20. Seems to be the case, yes: LLLParts
