  1. I'd have said ours range mostly between two and six years old. Any local average would be skewed by a 1937 Ford Tudor and near perfect 1997 Starlet. Gaz
  2. Hello f3lip3 Gaz
  3. Hello and welcome Stu Gaz
  4. From a little amble around Winchelsea Church this afternoon: The well trodden path in the grass to where I'm standing is because I have my back to Spike Milligan's grave. I sat in the Churchyard for a while as there was a street party going on, with a young lady singing songs from Les Miserables rather well. Gaz
  5. Can you put it into gear, put the clutch down and then start the car? (Make sure there's nothing in front of the car if you try this - it could lurch). If the clutch is okay, I'm wondering if there's a problem with your selector linkages, the release bearing or main mountings. No liquids on the floor or engine undertray? Gaz
  6. Does your clutch pedal feel and operate as expected? If you can select gears without the engine spinning, but can't when it is, that kinda points to a clutch issue as a first port of call. Gaz
  7. Welcome Lou Manual or DSG? Gaz

    Hello and welcome mantielero Gaz
  9. FWIW I had a Revo stage one on my 2015 220 TSI vRS (DSG), and was very happy with it . Never got to RR it after the map, but it pulled harder than a local vRS with a known 300bhp, so was considered to be 310 to 320bhp, maybe a smidge more. Opinions seem a bit divided between Revo and Racingline, some viewing Racingline as providing a more tailored and progressive map. Gaz
  10. Welcome back renton Gaz
  11. When I had a vRS (2015 220 TSI, running c. 310bhp), mine spent it's life on a diet of Tesco Momentum 99. Gaz
  12. If it'll do it, it might be worth resetting its stop points. Wind the window up, then hold the switch in the up position for five seconds. Then wind the window down, and hold the switch in the down position for five seconds. Could just be crap/wear in the switch. Gaz
  13. Hello and welcome Lesley Gaz
  14. Agreed - sounds just like my car does; anti-hijack locking the doors at c.10mph. Can be switched off in the car's menu system. Gaz
  15. One of the very last Mk1's 😎, at my local Indy: Gaz
  16. Tracking checked/adjusted to sort the toe? Gaz

Hello and welcome Gary, from another Gary Gaz
  18. Does it have a manual handbrake? I'm just thinking that pulling it on gently, while moving, might enable you to feel anything 'catching', clean the faces of the discs and might answer Steve and Ken's suggestions, whether they're new discs and pads or not. Pads loose and knocking in the carriers? Otherwise it's surely got to be CV, wheel bearing (possibly one roller breaking down, then getting hidden as it gets greasy again), the shield or ABS ring. Can't think what else it could be. Would a suspension bush sound like it's rotational? I could understand it being speed related, but not a tap tap tap. Does it do it if you bounce the car on the offending corner? Gaz
  19. A current toothbrush works just as well, just so long as it’s not yours πŸ‘ G
  20. I get the same issue, but it's only algae, and comes off with soap, warm water and a decent brush. I've tried mould and mildew removers before, but some can have a detrimental effect on surrounding areas if they're strong solutions. Replacing the rubber will of course delay its return, but return it will if the conditions remain the same. Replacing an otherwise functioning and intact rubber is harder (IMO) than giving it a good wash. Gaz
  21. Some useful reading examples here (for Whitie, not you George! πŸ˜‡) It's also worth being aware of the water pump thread if you're going down the diesel route: But as toot has already pointed out, there are lots of posts and threads on these points, and the Haldex being done properly, as oppose to just done (oil change) is one to note. The Briskoda search facility is surprisingly good for finding answers, and plenty of light reading πŸ‘ Welcome aboard Gaz
  22. CSL anyone?: Gaz
  23. I'm quite familiar with changing brake pads, and changing the rear pads on my 2018 Golf GTI looks no more complicated than usual. It looks like you can change the pads without VCDS, simply by dropping the EPB gearbox off and winding the drive shaft (i.e. backing off) while compressing the piston back into the calliper. Has anyone done it, and is it that simple? Ta Gaz
  24. Yup πŸ‘ 18.9k posts makes you a troll?? 🀣🀣 Gaz
