Went out for a trundle on my new to me scooter. Had a freeloader weighing me down: Saw a beautiful slow worm safely from one side of the Cuckoo Trail to the other: Big shoal of little fish: And more geese than I've previously seen at this spot. Think they were hungry so I didn't stay too long, in case they got any Hitchcock-esque ideas: Gaz

Can brake pads be different thicknesses(MOT)?
That's very odd. Have you got any non standard parts? Is the piston top (the bit that contacts the back of the pad) level with the top of the calliper pot? - Just wondering if something is preventing the piston from fully returning. Gaz

Can brake pads be different thicknesses(MOT)?
Which bit is too tight? If it's the pad material, have you returned the piston far enough into the calliper? If it's the steel of the pad back plate and it won't fit in the carrier by 2mm, then you either have the wrong pads or a different calliper carrier. It's a bad idea, in my opinion, to mix and match. You really want to be changing brake pads as an axle set (all four pads). If one side has worn more than the other, it would be better to find out why that is and remedy the cause. Gaz

Advance detail, Leeds, West Yorkshire and my new to me VRS
I met this car when Andy owned it. It was a good looking car then If it's still got a full sized Gemini spare, that was one of the original Gemini's off my vRS. Tidy bit of detailing done there. Gaz

I bought Sally a new rose for her Birthday in March. It came in a jiffy bag from an online supplier. No rootball or soil, just a rather sad looking 10" long twig. It started to sprout within days of planting, and has produced two amazing flowers. It's still so young it's too slight to hold up the blooms, but gets full marks for its efforts so far: Gaz

Clip on passengers mat
Possibly from the side panel of the dash board (The side you can see when the door is open). Those shaped clips can be used to keep a plastic panel in place, and locate into a small oblong hole. Gaz

M spline bolt exstractor
Just a further thought, is the bolt head proud enough to get a pair of mole grips on it? A little bit of upward (undoing) pressure from below, if you were to try my previous post suggestion, might make all the difference with your efforts. Gaz

M spline bolt exstractor
A suggestion for something that's worked for me before: File/grind/flatten the top of the triple square socket down, so there's nothing proud of the twelve 'teeth'. That will get you a fraction more into the bolt head, which may not yet be damaged. That fraction might be enough. When you put the socket and wrench into the bolt head, use a crowbar or large screwdriver between the back of the wrench and back of the plate where your wheel bolt thread's are, so you are putting pressure on, forcing it into the bolt head, giving it less chance to round out. As you apply pressure to undo it, tap the wrench (or even the flange itself) rapidly with a hammer, so what you're doing is a crude version of an impact driver. You've only got to get it to free up, and once it's moved you might have a fighting chance. Worth a shot. Gaz NB: and before anyone points it out, yes, I know the bottom of the bolt head is shaped to accommodate what is proud on the triple square socket. It still gave me enough purchase to free off a bolt i'd similarly knackered. G

Undertray panel hanging off - how to secure it?
The local dealer replaced my undertray fixings with cable ties when they worked on my Superb. I was well miffed, but hadn't notice for a few months until I was next under the car, so I can vouch for cable ties doing an okay job. Wouldn't have minded so much, but the fixings I bought to replace the missing ones had only been on there a few months Gaz

help finding a new bike
Me too. I have three, all B17's. It's funny how Brooks seem to polarise opinions. I've yet to find a more comfortable saddle My first one was a hand-me-down from my Brother in 1974. Even when it tore and collapsed, it was still too comfy to get rid of. Gaz

Tyres
If your priority is simply noise reduction, most, if not all, tyre sellers include a decibel rating in the description, e.g.: https://www.mytyres.co.uk/search?vehicleManufacturer=SKODA&vehicleEngineType=1.4+TSI&vehicleModel=Octavia&vehicleId=646781117975958640&vehicleSpecification=2017+-+2018+150+PS+%2F+110+KW+Type+5E+16+Inch&vehicleTypes=PKW&season=gan&width=205&size=16&profile=55&loadIndex=91&speedRating=H&brand=&searchByCar=true&priceCategory=recommended&_csrf=6a3ed8ed-7c67-4c80-bb25-ef126868c6b8 Having the correct tyre pressure can also make a difference.
