  1. It is meant for the lubrication and longevity of the coolant but they have a nasty habit of bursting and blocking the heater matrix and turning the coolant a horrible slidgy colour.
  2. Oil mess - yuk. Agree with @Winoiit will probably be the oil cooler. Worst case there is something wrong with the internals of the engine and coolant is getting into the cylinder head. Investigate replacement of the cooler, then do a coolant change....if it's still going that colour then it's the latter more serious issue. The other thing to check is has your silica bag burst in the coolant tank as it would also cause similar (not exactly) the same issues.
  3. @Hedean interesting question. I've heard that Mac's tend to corrupt the files due to their implementation of 7z but as they are POSIX compliant machines, you might get away with it. Truth is I don't know. I've never tried it. If you can drive the command line on a Mac then you might have better luck. The most important thing is formatting the SD card correctly to FAT32 ideally with 4k blocks.
  4. It will be a permission thing. Carplay is not allowing Mirrorlink to gain access to the resource which means that until you allow SiRi to work with Carplay, it won't work.
  5. We need a scan.....ODBEleven or VCDS.....
  6. Sensor can be reset via VCDS - module 01.
  7. Well, possibly, but I would also check the waterpump too.....they are known weakspots.
  8. As long as the oil meets VW 504/507 grades, you should be fine. I personally recommend going with original oil - Lifelife LEIII 0W30 oil.
  9. Best car (if you can find it) is as follows: If you want an all-out performance, try and pick up a VRS 245 Challenge (rare as hens teeth). The 230's are still very rapid cars though.... If you want a DSG, go for a car after 2017/18, when you got the 7 speed DSG - which is a huge improvement over the 6 speed. If you want speed, but better fuel economy, then a VRS 184 TDI is where you need to go (you can still get 50mpg from a diesel VRS). Excellent revvy engines. I've owned two diesel VRS's and one petrol. All cars were excellent.
  10. ooohhh...be careful with that statement. I've known ODBEleven to mess up some coding, although it is getting better with checks and balances. Coding is different depending on whether you have a pre-facelifted car (2013-16) or face lifted (2017 to 2020)
  11. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.... Having lived in Scotland for almost eight years, my south-UK accent has almost disappeared and the Skoda voice system has stopped recognising my voice. I stopped using that voice control system YEARS ago due to the fact it was SO useless. Press and HOLD baby....Press and HOLD.
  12. If you search for postings for the error code and Briskoda, you will find the solution. Its basically having to fix the software version offset or checksum to match your new version in VCDS.
  13. I agree, the battery use is a bit savage; let me see how I get on with it.
  14. It's a Linux box, so there is a small time whilst the box boots up. However that is usually only on first boot up. Subsequent boot ups are quicker. You can retrofit wireless charging. There are several threads on Briskoda on how to do that for standard sized phones. I'm not advocating but it is a nice retrofit which gives similar usage to the MK4 MIB3 systems. As to mounting, a small piece of velcro on the back will allow mounting on the passenger side.
  15. Here is the URL for those who are interested: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/aawireless/x/5490481#/
  16. Your car had a Euro 6 engine. This is not the Euro 5 campaign mentioned above. What it will probably be is the upgrade of firmware to improve the MPG of your car. My old Scout (2016) and my husband's 2016 SE 4x4 had recalls for updated firmware to improve emissions and MPG. Cars were less thirsty and more responsive. However please let us know what campaign it is that Willis will be applying when you get an answer.
  17. Please speak with @pab567aand see if he can assist.
  18. Yes, the MFSW Buttons need to be coded in. Your scan showed that the car wasn't expecting those buttons or the buttons haven't been enabled up. I suppose in my mind is whether the car is expecting that functionality or not. If they have been retrofitted then you may need to speak with @langers2ktto see if he has the coding for you or otherwise it might be worth paying for an hour on ODIS to get the Skoda chief tech to code the buttons back in.
  19. Well, I'm one up on the MK4 Owners. Android Auto Wireless works for me! My wireless interface box finally arrived after waiting for it for 10 months! For those of you wanting to do the same thing, it should work with Bolero, Amunsden and Columbus systems. The screen shot shows it working on my retrofitted Columbus system with MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4526 firmware. On Bolero and Amunsden it should work on SOP4.x hardware with 0478 and above. Download the app onto Android. It works best with Android 10 and above. Connect it up, enable developer mode in AA, enable Wireless and connect up the device. You also need to enable the VAG crash settings to get it work in Wireless AA app. You also need to update the AAWireless box to version 1.71 (it won't work on version 1.60). You need to wait 40 secs for connection and for any reboots. To get the best audio settings, go into AA settings and enable Auto Resolution and enable 48khz Audio Rate.
  20. That's kind of what happens anyway. It all depends on how you plan to get it remapped. If you go for a replacement ECU, then the values will be fixed. If you go for a plug-in in-line remap box, then you usually adjust the box for the different power values. Speak to the manufacturer of the proposed solution and see what they say.
  21. There is a drain and it gets easy blocked. Pour lots of hot water to unblock it with soapy water.
  22. Completely understand. I was just trying to give context and yes I agree you can switch off the audio notifications (even I've done that). I am fairly sure that VW have looked at this and set it up for the most risk adverse manner and as it is a safety critical system they have probably hard coded it down to stop that kind of change.
  23. @RobMac1 thinking about your last posting and what the car is meant to stop you doing, it is design to: keep the driver alert to the fact they are drifting lane give you due notice that you aren't paying attention If you change that warning to 30 seconds, you might end up sunny side DOWN and Wheels UP - which is never a good place to be.
  24. I would also suggest using some Autoglym Interior cleaner as well as Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. Sorry - I just love Autoglym products as they are genuinely brilliant (although they are expensive).
