  1. oh....that's not good - that's the Silica bag gone south then. It creates a sludge. Time to get your coolant system cleaned out and flushed and fresh G12evo put in.
  2. It generally either a failed cap to the header tank (they always fail) or the water pump (known issue before 2017 FL cars). Unless you are filling up your header tank with hard tap water, you won't generally suffer from EGR cooler blockages. Head Gasket fails do occur, but are rare. The Heater Matrix is a known issue due to Silica bags splitting and failing (symptoms are lack of heat).
  3. Yes, we tend to us the Hunter system here in the UK, but I'm sure the Hudson machine is perfectly fine. Its mainly to do with the profiles for the Scout suspension. Not all alignment centres have the correct profiles for the Scout's rough-road package.
  4. Make sure you don't have a wheel alignment that is out and make sure your tracking is spot on (get it done by a Skoda dealer with the correct setup for the Scout suspension)
  5. Things to consider; your tyres are only rated to Y speeds (unless you have Z rated tyres). Are you planning to take the car on track days? I agree a remap is probably required. Whilst the engine is probably capable of outputting higher power and speeds, if you remap the car, it will probably require a new racing style clutch (unless it is a DSG - which will also require uprated clutches for sustained use although a DQ381 7 speed should be in theory capable). There is in theory a maximum speed applied and a lot of the stuff done on the Golf R is applied via a trick-diff at the front (should already have that) and a HALDEX system at the back to give you extra grip and to get the power down. Think about the situation of why you need more than 155mph (which is quite fast even by Autobahn standards) and where you will use the extra power and speed.
  6. How do you know that your external temperature gauge is incorrect? Are you getting incorrect readings in the car? I'm wondering if it is read by the Air Quality Sensor under the front passenger side windscreen wiper. If it is the Air Quality Sensor, this will be reported on CANBUS. We need a scan of your car to confirm this.
  7. There is a Skoda TPI for the strut tops which causes creaking in the suspension.
  8. Okay - agreed - this is normal speed - and we DEFINATELY need a scan from the car to assist further. The ESC warning is due to low battery voltage and the car is then complaining that it needs to be inspected. So - there is a priority 1 fault with the car - and generally priority 1 faults are showstoppers and cannot be bypassed and will cause starting failures.
  9. Folks, I know I bang on about this, but I suspect that your MIB system firmware maybe causing these random error messages. On my MK3 Octavia VRS, it had SOS function and it kept on doing this. It seemed to be caused by connectivity issues to the onboard SIM and kept on flaking out. I upgraded to version 0478 (firmware on Bolaro / Amunsden) and the problem went away. Latest firmware is 0480. Could be an easy fix.
  10. I think this sounds like a battery issue. When the car goes haywire, its due to low battery levels or a failing battery. Plug-in an ODBEleven or VCDS, read all of the faults (and save them), clear the DTCs as necessary, re-read and see what the real faults being reported. Please don't disconnect the battery....if it is an alarm, it should switch off after 60 seconds anyway. If its continuing, then you have a faulty alarm - and its time to get Skoda involved in getting it fixed.
  11. You can find all of the answers you need in the Skoda Owner's Manual Page 239.
  12. A scan would be helpful. If you go and search for your nearest VCDS person nearest to you and get them to scan your car it will tell you what the issue is.
  13. No but they will use it against you if they want to get out from paying a claim.
  14. It can happen. Most Superbs and Octavia's prior to 2017 had duff water pumps that tend to disintegrate prematurely. Stand your car with a cardboard box under the water pump and see what happens....any moisture, it's a new water pump and cambelt.
  15. ROFL....okay, tell your dealer to go into Elsa and stop being so ruddy lazy as it has all of the build info in there. It will give the part numbers for your flap motors.....sorry, I hate Lazy dealers (and there are many of them).
  16. Sure.... manually. It's a driver's aid and I'm sure it will be fine to switch off, however you are giving your insurance company a way of wriggling out of payment in case of total loss as they will state the electronic aids there to assist were switched off. I might suggest keeping it on and seeing if your local Skoda dealer has any firmware updates or TPIs against these false positives.
  17. I would recommend that you keep the Radar detector at the front of the car (the Shiny nose of the Octavia on your FL car or under the grill on the front valance on non-FL models) clean. Dirty on the face of the radar detector may lead to false positives. It's doing its job. Keep it on. Especially in London.
  18. @Glasgowsteve How many miles has your car done?
  19. @GlasgowsteveIf coolant is disappearing and it isn't appearing under the engine then either it is being consumed in the burn cycle (worse case) or it is being lost somewhere that only opens up when hot (loose jubilee clip or there is a split seeping pipe which passes liquid when hot). You didn't say when or if the water pump had been replaced either (another common source of coolant loss)
  20. That's about right. It's a front bumper off job (I know this as I've seen a body shop at main Skoda dealer in Pilsen do that replacement).
  21. Folks, I've seen (unconfirmed) reports today that Skoda are halting production of all their cars build in CZ for the rest of 2021 due to the chip shortages they are experiencing. Not sure how will effect the factories in China or India, but as this shortage is global, I imagine it will be a problem. New cars are going to be v.thin on the ground - makes our Second Hand (or as the industry calls them now - pre-loved) vehicles worth even more. My Scout has gone up a £1000 in a week (according to Auto Trader).....that's crazy money.
  22. Cleared the fault afterwards. Fault hasn't reappeared since. Happy air quality module.
  23. The part number for the sensor is: 5Q0907643C What came out of the car was 5Q0907643B So a different and earlier revision that seems to effect how the sensor operates. Client is happy. I've got to fix a glow plug now for the same client....
  24. Client happy and thanks to you guys (and girls) the car is now not reporting a fault (for that module).
  25. Not from the pump agreed but from sensors in the coolant system you will get warnings and lack of flow of coolant etc. Sorry that's what I meant.
