  1. @mroberts Owning a Skoda is not a bad thing and you shouldn't feel as though you are compromising.....the Octavia VRS's don't compromise that much on quality or toys. It obviously depends on what your aspirations are. Might I suggest that you look at a GOLF GTI or GTD which are the same platform and essentially the same cars - the build quality is on a par with the Skodas; VW tend to use more sound deading in that cars and slightly plusher fabrics.
  2. For a Citigo, suggest a nextbase 322GW with a backwards camera module option. Nextbase have an offer on at the moment (although I would go out and buy a 128G Class 10 memory card seperately): https://www.nextbase.com/en-gb/special-offer/322gw-dash-cam-pro-package/
  3. Yes - delete the old files first, then put the new files on. You can also format the SD card to FAT32 and copy the files on afterwards. SD cards take time to read information to memory - be patient.

  6. You are the guinea pig - I'm getting mine done on Friday.
  7. There are very good Continential tyres available: https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rshop/tyre/Continental/WinterContact-TS-850P/225-35-R19-88W-XL/R-342121 Highly recommended.
  8. Actually answered my own question - its between 10 and 15 trees a year.
  9. Yes - about firmware version 0480. Its still very new; I'm trying to get my hands on the changelog. 0478 is still the recommended version. I think that 0480 fixes some minor bug issues with Apple Carplay.
  10. Your car should still be under a Skoda 10 year anti-corrosion warranty. Paint and Body Warranty All new vehicles supplied by SKODA Auto are provided with a three year unlimited mileage warranty against defects in the paintwork. Any manufacturing defect in the paint finish or application should be reported to an appointed SKODA retailer or Authorised repairer where it will be rectified at no cost. In addition SKODA Auto are pleased to provide an anti-perforation warranty for a minimum of 10 years (please refer to your owners manual for specific details). This offers assurance that any defect in the corrosion protection applied to body panels, that results in perforation corrosion is rectified at no cost.
  11. The starter motor (the device which starts the engine) - has got an electrical fault on it that means it stops working when the engine gets hots.
  12. Part number: 1M6867574A - cheap as chips - £2.99 - about 5.60 to 6.00 Aus Dollars.
  13. To the OP - @Damobeach - is this a problem relating to a MK1 (as in your profile label) or to a MK3 (if so, could you update your profile please)? Many thanks
  14. Your options in that part of the world are: Specialist Cars in Aberdeen (reasonably good engineers); Aberdeen Volks Centre (VW Specialist); SVS Volkswagen in Dundee (VW Specialist) - depends on where you are in the world. I'm sure that the folk on here in Scotland will help you out as much as possible. @e-Roottoot
  15. @ColinD - just a question for you. I'm driving 20-25k miles in my TDI Scout 184 - how many tree do I need to plant to be closer to carbon neutral.
  16. G12evo is not expensive....1 litre is less than £10.
  17. Less than ideal - why not use brand new G12evo ready-mixed instead?
  18. Yes and it will be difficult to get a paint tester underneath there to check to see if it has been tested. The Skoda Garage will have a tester to make sure you aren't trying to pull a fast-one and get a free repair for somebody elses bad paint work.
  19. You should not need to code them. Email [email protected] and see she can help. Sounds like you might have a duff set.
  20. That kind of repair is not going to cost much though....a couple of hundred pounds (because the rear window has to come out and be debonded - repair made and then rebonded back in). Local body shop should make work on that.
  21. Arh - different. You might have a problem with the starter motor in that case that is going open circuit/high resistance when the car is hot.
  22. I would be looking in two areas: 1) Check the Cabin Air Filter (5 min job) to make sure it isn't plugged and blocked up 2) Your fan (located in the centre consule) maybe slowly failing - they do this and that will trigger up that fault too.
  23. Its worth checking that the timing hasn't slipped or is out of tolerance. The CANBUS network will report this and you can also test for this in Module 01 (engine).
  24. Tough words @rum4mo I'm always open when I've said something wrong. I agree that the silica is there to help with the lubicity of the coolant. I've deleted my previous posting. I'm not perfect. I was thinking about something else and got confused. My apologies if there was confusion.
  25. Sorry...you are right and I'm talking absolutely BS again....sorry...head in the clouds and lack of sleep.
