  1. (posting deleted as it related to late MK3 Octavias - posting since removed to MK4 Octavia section)
  2. Speak with @pab567 to make sure he can supply you with the correct firmware for your SOP version - in this case an SOP1.x version. If it is goosed/cooked because of your firmware update, you could do a couple of things: 1) See if you can get the correct firmware and see if you can apply it (what have you got to loose). 2) Take this time and opportunity to upgrade to a nice shiny new Amunsden MIB2.5 system. Again, speak to @pab567 as he might be able to assist there - for a fee. This way, you will also be able to get map updates and the screen will be considerably bigger and nicer. 3) Go down the line of a third party chinese nasty.
  3. Can you email the Administrators of Briskoda and ask them to unpin this thread in that case. Sorry to loose you to the Dark Side (aka Superb owners), but I hope you get back on the road soon.
  4. @jay01600 Have you updated with the correct version of firmware for your unit. Is it a SOP2.x, SOP3.x or SOP4.x version of firmware? It sounds like you've put in a newer version of firmware than your unit can cope with. If (for example) you have a Amunsden with Version 0251 on it, you can only upgrade to 0253; (example) if you have 0347, you can only go to 0351, (example) 04xx can only go to 0478.
  5. Different car - different engine - completely different setup. This car is a Euro 6 or 6a car and the way the engine is setup is completely different. Nothing to do with cheat software. Yes - it is. I'm surprised they were still punting out those gearboxes for a 68 plate unless your build date was earlier. You have a DQ250A (all wheel drive) gearbox in that case.
  6. I agree, but in MOST parts - the VRS's came with LED tail lamps...but not all of them did. 2017 was an odd-year of the changeover to FL models. I've seen a early FL VRS without LED tail lamps. However, looking at the cluster of the OP, I would say this one does have LED tail lamp clusters. In theory, you can get a new skin for the tail lamp, but that requires find that part alone. I agree with @xman and others - see if you can find an accident damaged VRS and change the cluster over.
  7. Slight diversion, but I used Chemical Guy's Clay bar (which is considerably cheaper than AutoGlym's product) - on our VRS yesterday to get rid of a whole load of dead paint. What a product!!!!
  8. I remember seeing somebody in Russia having done this before; they maybe a post elsewhere on this forum on how to do the changeover. However, I would strongly recommend NOT doing this - not because I suspect you want the latest equipment on your car - but because of the "scroll" wheels on a MK4 Octavia. They are genuinely useless and what will happen is that every time you turn the steering wheel, you will end up knocking the scroll button with your hand and will activate a function (which is annoying and frankly dangerous). In MK4 land, it activates LAURA (the next generation of Skoda's useless voice connectivity) - on the MK3's (if you ever got it to work), you would end up increasing the volume of any music you listen to. I'm also not entirely sure the BCM for the Steering wheel controls will be compatible either.
  9. Hopefully @SashaGrace or @langers2k can help here. There are separate power and video connections to consider. There are also numerous postings on the forum on how to install a camera [both genuine and non-genuine units].
  10. @rcgliderpilot Okay - I own a MY19 Scout - same setup with a 184bhp diesel engine. Idle speed goes up and down depending on the journey, whether the car is in regen or not and also depending on accessories switched on. Can you firstly send us a video showing the 'high' idle speed? If its at 1000rpm, then it will be in regen mode. Our generation of Scouts are setup quite differently from earlier Scouts and TDI engines; they are setup for clean emissions, so depending on what the car is doing or where it is going or how much heat is in the engine. Is your Scout doing multiple regens (auto-stop/start not working with high rpm at idle)? If so, what is your typical journey like? You should really not be doing anything less than 10 miles. I also recommend that (if you aren't already) - utilising some decent fuel from a branded petrol station. I personally like to add in a cetane improver (https://www.hydra-int.com/diesel-power-blast.html which makes a huge different to the performance of the car and keeps the EGR and DPF clean. I also recommend utilising decent Ad-Blue in your car as this does make a small difference. In terms of the gearbox - ooh - you should be running at DQ381 7 speed box (they introduced them in MY18 build year). I had a fault on day one on my car with the DSG gearbox, but it was easily fixed. Basically, at the factory, they didn't fill up the gearbox sump properly. It was short by approximately a litre of gearbox oil. A complete DSG gearbox oil and filter change transformed the car and made driving it so much nicer. It might be expensive for an oil change, but it is worth it. You didn't say what mileage the car had done. I personally also recommend getting the HALDEX gear oil changed and gauze filter cleaned [because it will be black and the filter will be blocked up] every 20k miles. I've done numerous mods to my Scout, so happy to help out a fellow Scout owner. Please PM me.
  11. Sounds like your blower motor is failing. It's not impossible to replace but it is fiddily. You should also have your HVAC checked every 3 years....time to get a regas.
  12. Don't be caught out. If you get a warning, this is not the car just being overly cautious, it really means the battery will be about to die. Would be embarrassing to call out breakdown cos your KESSY key stops working.
  13. No they don't. You can find them all on Skoda erWin.
  14. Can you also make sure you don't have the dongle in your Bluetooth device list please. If it is in there, remove it (or forget the dongle). Many a time have I hit that brick wall.
  15. This is in Skoda Connect Lite - under settings. If you can the connecting to the dongle bit (or press - continue without dongle), go to settings and Make a call with Handsfree - it make the dongle and phone share a bluetooth connection between the MIB system and Connect Lite dongle. Without this ticked, it can cause connectivity issues....
  16. You might want to consider some contact cleaner gently applied to the steering wheel controls.
  17. Fairly sure that is a Amunsden system from 2013->2016 era. Can OP please press/hold the MENU button and get back to us with the version/firmware/software version of the unit please. This fault is to do with the number of 'channels' available for control of services. You have music sound, announcement volume and if you have mirrorlink, there is also a volume channel for that. I've seen that fault once; a 'hard-reset' of the MIB unit usually fixes it [Press and hold power button on left for 10 seconds until Skoda logo appears]
  18. I wish I could help remotely although there is Android software to make this happen. Please make sure that the phone doesn't have power adaption or saving switched on. What is the make/model of your main phone? Different Android versions have different ways of working. You also need a phone which has Bluetooth version 4 and above to make the dongle work properly. You also need to make sure that "Making a call with a handsfree system" is switched ON in settings. BTW - the hanging is not what you think it is. The version of firmware the dongles come with is faulty.....9.0.5.0. You need version 9.0.8.0 to fix this this. Connect Lite is upgrading the dongle in the background. Your phone might actually be updating the firmware of the dongle. This can take up to 15 mins.
  19. I have a nasty suspicious feeling that your insurance company told the repair company to fix the fault as cheaply as possible - based on mileage and the age of the car. The insurance assessor is under strict instructions from their managers not to go past certain values and if a repair can be made to work with minimal costs, they will go that way. However, that repairer sounds well dodgy. I agree with previous postings that with ACC, your steering does need to be properly aligned - its a case of doing the wheel alignment and then telling the car the new values and making sure it all matching up electronically as well as physically. Is there an issue with the steering rack as well? The authorised repair shop should have replaced that; getting you to pay for half the repair job (unless it is in your contract with the insurance company) is not playing fair.
  20. G13 has been retired....to be replaced by G12++ or G12evo. [don't ask].
  21. Goodness - BTW - just out of interest (without giving your exact location away); are you near any transmitters or mobile phone masts (or even electrical high voltage power lines?? These may be causing interference. As a suggestion (and a relatively cheap way of seeing if it is external radio sources causing interference), have you tried getting a Faraday pouch (random link) for your car keys?
  22. For a 2014 car, the symptoms you have just mentioned - are definately part of the a failing water pump. They either go leaky through the seals or they begin to fall apart internally. I am surprised about the sensor; they aren't expensive to replace so I would get it done at the same time as the water pump.....sorry....its a non-FL weakness....but the good news is that the replacement VAG part is not prone to failure in the same way, so you should get another five years of motoring without any further issues.
  23. Yes - but only if those keys also have transponders or transceivers on them. A standard key or KESSY key just on a key chain shouldn't make any difference.
  24. Arh no - Connect encompassed Infortainment online and Care Connect - Connect Lite is a completely different product (and works for all Skodas/VAG cars from 2008 onwards)
  25. Okay - the Octavia is very sensitive for battery wobbles. If you get over or under voltage or big spikes in voltage which upsets the CANBUS, then you are going to get all kinds of errors pitching up. Try clearing all the DTCs after the car has had a good run - see what you get. Recommendation: get yourself something like an ODBEleven and this wil give you proper diagnostic information. Any issues, you can post the codes up here for help with diagnostics. In terms of battery - might I recommend that you go and invest in a solar panel charger for your Octavia. When the car is not in use, connect up the device to your ODBC port and it will keep the battery charged up. I recommend this unit for the AA.....
