  1. Yes. Skoda have a 10 year bodywork guarantee. Take it to your nearest (trusted) Skoda dealer who will book it in and get their local workshop to do the job.
  2. Okay folks, Skoda Connect. Firstly, some background. There are TWO parts to Skoda Connect - the Infortainment Online (common) part and Care Connect (quite rare) part. Most Amunsden systems (from 2017-2020) have the ability to give realtime map delays, nearest petrol stations, Weather info and (a poor) News service. Care Connect portal is addition that gives real-time info to VW's backend - as long as the Amunsden system is connected via a WLAN connection (via hotspot) or via a Skoda Carstick. The Skoda Connect 'app' is just a portal really to allow for signing in and connecting the MIB system up to VW backend. Its quite sad, because Skoda Connect used to be quite useful app and compare to Connect Lite, but IMHO - Skoda Connect Lite is CONSIDERABLY better for giving information about the car. BTW - you know if you have Care Connect, because you have an SOS red button above your head.
  3. You can use either ODBEleven Pro or VCDS and yes it does help especially on firmware 04xx versions.
  4. The 'modern' way of charging is now via the ODBC port for Solar panel chargers.
  5. You can order the correct part numbers and get the part numbers from your Skoda dealer. Brakes are a interesting subject for MK3 Octy's - as there are different brakes/disks and calipers for all the different models within the Octavia range.....it might be the case you actually have the wrong part installed!
  6. The speakers are only 10W RMS units for Bolaro and Amunsden unit. If pushed, the speakers are not that robust. Recommendations are: If you have an Bolaro or Amunsden (with Nav), then enable Skoda Surround. This will make a massive difference. Get a firmware update for your MIB unit too if you haven't already done this (as sound is very thin on non-patched firmware cars). As for speakers, I would go for 20W door speakers. There is a thread here:
  7. You might want to go for a Chinese unit - decent screen/head units can be had for 200-300ukp. Random option from ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172855888151 There are versions that have a look/feel of a Columbus type. A google will come up with options. Other members will recommend various systems.
  8. Might I suggest that you go and purchase a decent Solar Panel Charger. I've got one from ebay - that plugs into the ODBC Port and charges the car that way. Invaluable. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233409015194 No more flat batteries!!!
  9. Have a look at this guide from Ross-tech: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16485/P0101/000257
  10. Sadly yes - the accountants came to town on this one. On high spec MK3 Octavia's, you actually got dimming side mirror on both sides.....on the MK4 Octy's - only on the drivers side. Poor......
  11. Really depends on your budget - if 1300euros is acceptable, then that is your solution. However, I might suggest getting a spare evaporator part from a Scrapped car of a similar age and see it can be swapped across.
  12. See if you can push your budget out to a ODBEleven Pro - it supports your car and you can get proper diagnostics instead of just a generic code reader.
  13. oh....avoid an ebay special - it probably won't work properly. Our expert @pab567 is the man to speak with. He can sort your out with an Amunsden 8" screen MIB 2.5 system (you canny use Skoda Connect services though).
  14. What you didn't say was whether the garage had used genuine Skoda/VW parts or not? Pattened parts are fine, but the fit/fixing are not always as good - and this is particularly a problem for brake pads.
  15. Yes, I had this issue with a older firmware release on our Amunsden units - post a message in the Amundsen firmware update and see if there is an update for your system.
  16. If you delete your DPF, it is an immediate MOT Failure, so this is not a good idea. I am surprised that your EGR keeps on keeping blocked up.....might I suggest running some detergent and cleaner through your fuel system to try and keep it clean? For diesel, I recommend: https://www.hydra-int.com/diesel-power-blast.html For petrol, I recommend: https://www.hydra-int.com/petrol-power-blast.html This is particuarly important if you are running your car on Supermarket Fuels. (other fuel addertives are available)
  17. I can only hear a faint metalic clanking - which could be either a failing brake dust shield or an exhaust knocking. For the former, you have to take off each wheel and check what the state of the shields are like - if they are rotten, they need replacing. For the later, I suggest that you check the rubber hangers and see if there any loose of missing.
  18. Just out of interest, this 5% figure you quote - where does this come from? You might have an issue that the brightness of all of the screens and system has been turned down to minimum level (Car->Settings->Lights and find Interior or Internal lighting) - if it is set at minimum you have your answer. What happens if you leave the lights switch on AUTO? Does it dim then? Let us know. Thanks
  19. Well yes, but it does kinda involve getting the blind the whole way back. Your dealer and yourself need to get hold of some Sunroof Track Lubricant. It's VAG part no G00045002. The blind (automatically driven no doubt) has probably got stuck due to a dry track. However, you need the blind in the fully wound position and then lubricate the track guide. Officially it is meant to be done every 30k miles or 48kms but if you have a dry dusty climate (like in Australia) this will need doing more often. The grease is fantastically expensive - please don't use a substitute because those get grit into them and you score your plastic guide.
  20. If you spend 7 euros at Skoda Erwin, you can find out that information for yourself! I think that the oil filter is 10nM,
  21. My English...it is no good yes??? What I meant to say was lack of traction.
  22. Yerr ... if your car is a 2014 model, you aren't going to get a good working system. The nearest thing will be Mirrorlink, but nothing more. My suggestion is that you go and invest in a MIB2 system for your car. Speak with @pab567 who can organise you a replacement Amunsden (or Columbus if your pockets allow) which gives to you native Mirrorlink and Android Auto and Apple Carplay as standard.
  23. @Diljit - there are several Briskoda members near you. I think that one of the Briskoda Administrators @Gizmo lives nearby, so there are folks around and near you who might be able to advise you if you get stuck. Good luck and I hope you enjoy owning your Octy. If you are passionate about your new purchase, you might also like to get a copy of ODBEleven Pro or VCDS to understand any future issues or do any minor modifications to your car. I would also recommend getting a Freedom membership from Briskoda as it only costs 10ukp a year and keeps the forum and website going.
  24. Most Vauxhalls are built to a budget (and are not really that good) - as are Skoda's, but the build quality on a VAG car is considerably better than a GM/PSA group car, so welcome to the group and your first Skoda car. There are like all cars - niggles that you will learn about which effects all MK3's. They are good solid cars if well maintained. Firstly, I would recommend a couple of things: find the various threads about removing the Silica Teabag from your coolant header tank. These will cause you issues down the line. It shouldn't hopefully be too hard to do and worse case will require a new header tank which will set you back less than 25ukp. Secondly, with the Silica teabag removed, you will have to change your coolant every five (5) years.....no big deal. Thirdly, it is good that you are thinking ahead and doing an intermediate oil change. I've always tended to get my Skoda dealer or VAG specialist to do a service at around 6000 miles to get rid of the gunk from the running in period and from that point onwards, do an oil change every 10,000 miles will keep your car super happy for it life with you. In terms of having the correct coolant, you need to get a bottle of G12evo or G12++ coolant for your car. A one litre bottle should be good to keep in stock. Be mindful that you get the ready mixed stuff (because there are versions out there which are concentrate). A good chart to have access to is the Skoda Servicing Schedule guide - https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/8b70c541-726b-4996-9999-66ebc7ca520b which should give you an idea about what needs to be serviced and when. A lot of us are OCD and do more in the way of maintenance, because we are mad and love our Czech cars way too much. However, it is also worth noting that an Octavia is just a VW Golf in different clothing, so you are guaranteed to get good underpinnings of a car.
  25. @originato Why did you remove the original MIB system on a 2020 car? What was wrong with the original screena and system? I am guessing that you only had a Bolaro and wanted maps but going to an Amunsden is not going to give you much other than just additional maps. The MIB system is NOT plug and play. It requires recoding the new unit to match the car's set-up. You could also falling foul of CP (Component Protection) if you have upgraded to an Amunsden. There are ways around this but it will require expert help from the likes of @pab567
