  1. Quick test can be checked by turning on the headlights and opening up the door.
  2. Risky business not priming the pump before heading out. The reason is it gets rid of any airlock in the pump and primes the pump ready for use. The issue is that if the pump isn't primed properly it could just 'airlock' out, and the first thing you would know about it is the lack of wheel spinning. You might or might not get a pump failure error message, as monitoring of that particular part of the car is not as indepth that other parts. HALDEX oil and gauze filter change without doing that process may just stop the system from working properly. I agree that also have to recheck the fluid level after a pump prime.
  3. Both Android Auto and Skoda Connect Lite have issues with power saving or Adaptive Power settings which cause some very strange issues because the phone doesn't always get things right and gives unpredictable results with data transfers. Thanks for reminding us because it does catch folk out occasionally.
  4. In terms of an exhaust system for the Octavia from Fox Exhaust Systems, it is about 895 Euros + your import tax + postage......looks like lovely pieces of equipment though..... https://www.fox-sportauspuff.de/store-products.php?pName=skoda-octavia-5e-rs-tdi-final-silencer-rightleft-outlet-in-the-original-tail-pipes-p-15666&language=en&cName=car%2Fskoda%2Foctavia-c-1_429_433
  5. General rule is thus: replace your CR2025's every year for trouble-free motoring. Replace them every 6-8 months if you have KESSY (because you get even less warning there and without a working KESSY system, your car won't even start!!!! )
  6. Might be worth getting a scan of the CANBUS network. The Canton system can report if there are failures on its logic circuit boards or Open Circuits....this is what happened in my old RED VRS.
  7. If I get a chance in the next week, I'll get my VCDS out and try and code this into my 2019 Scout.
  8. I suggest a detailed email to the Managing Director of Skoda UK should be the way forward: [email protected] I'm kinda in the same boat - different issues; that's what I've been told to do by my Skoda dealer.
  9. A quick google shows this model to be prevelant in France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. Looks quite a high spec - something around an SE-L (with optional extras added).
  10. You can do it yourself if you are technically proficient - assuming you still have a MIB2.5 system and not an MIB3 system. You should take it to your dealer though and report issues with Bluetooth sound and demonstrate the issue to them. They should then upgrade your system to the latest firmware under warranty.
  11. Skoda Connect Lite is temperamental but it does work in Europe (Spain) so surprised you had issues. Make sure all power saving is switched off and that you DO NOT add the dongle to the phone. Then start-up Connect Lite, let it scan for the dongle (this may take several goes) and it should jump into life.
  12. If you still have an MIB2.5 system, then it might be worth doing a firmware update on the MIB system. Do you have a Bolero, Amunsden or Columbus system?
  13. Wow - worn out - that's a new one on me.....however, I would URGE all Sunroof owners to get a tube of expense VAG lubricant and make sure that every 30k miles the sunroof rails and openers are lubricated with this stuff.....here is a listing on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133561433063 In terms of the blocked vents - this does happen, but you are going to have to be inventive on clearing them. Long pipe cleaners (are they still a thing) with plenty of hot water is needed until the downpipes are clearer. They do get really easily blocked.
  14. Arh - an age old problem that I occassionally have - its seems to effect my MK2 and MK3 Octavia's. Basically, dust gets into the ultrasonic detectors in the car and causes false trigger events. Gently blow out or hoover the dust from the sensors (you need to be careful - don't just get your 5kW hoover in there cos they will break - gentle dust removal needed) - the sensors are located above the driver's head in the middle of the car in the roof lining (where there seem to be 'hidden' grills) next to the curtosy on/off/auto light.
  15. The EFM+ standard batteries that Skoda put on the cars from the factory are rubbish and I think a lot of the error messages - are NOT the fault - they are meerly symptoms of the fault. New Battery is a good first place. There is a shortage of batteries due to most of the UK stock of Scalas and some Kodiaq's - have had to have new batteries replaced due to manufacturing warranty faults; there is also a lack of batteries for all VAG cars due to folk's batteries failing because they weren't using their cars. Get the battery replaced (and coded in), clear the faults and see what happens - @dadys - sorry you have having issues - do you have access to a scanning tool (ODBEleven or VCDS) that you can scan the car and post up the CANBUS error log please?
  16. Thanks for bringing us up to speed with the expense. @BeattieBohemia if you are in the UK, you can extend the Skoda Warranty of any vehicle up to 10 years old. https://insurewithskoda.co.uk/extended-warranty Getting the work done by Skoda dealer network gives you 2 years parts and labour warranty, so maybe spending the extra is worth it. Apprechiate that you have to make a choice - invest in your current vehicle (we - here - in the MK3 Octavia section are somewhat biased to say KEEP THE CAR ) or go and join the motley crew in the Superb section here in Briskoda.
  17. Short journeys and the 2.0 TDI don't mix. Take it on a long fast journey, put in a tank of super diesel and let the car clear itself out.
  18. Just out of interest, what is warranting a 1000ukp bill from the Skoda dealer? This sounds like a clutch or flywheel price to me and the mileage sounds about right for this to happen. But....I could be barking up the wrong tree on that one....let us know pls.
  19. There is a simple way to check this. When your car is at a stand, but a cup underneath the drip. Look at the collected liquid. If it is purple/pink, its coolant, if it is clear, then it will probably be condensate. Hell, if you wish to taste test, I think you find it's water (not advised)
  20. If you get the tracking checked, I suspect you will find it is out of kilter. Get it done on a Hunter 4x4 alignment machine at a dealer (who have the proper VRS alignment settings) and it will drive a lot better and quieter.
  21. Arh - that old chestnut! Everything looks fine - a usual catch-all to say that they probably don't have the equipment to check the HVAC system properly or the levels of the R1234y coolant. Typically, the HVAC system need servicing every 2 to 3 years - if it hasn't been done (or you don't have a record of it being done) then get the system serviced first and try again.
  22. Make sure that whatever you do, you don't overfill the sump. Its easy to do if you aren't paying attention. The engine doesn't apprechiate that.
  23. There must have been a reason for the oil pump belt to snap like that. Is the pump itself making any noises? My other thought is that the pump is in the process of failing and the oil pump belt failing - was the car's way of say - I need a new oil pump too. You have oil pressure, but seemingly - just not enough. There is either blockage in the pump / pump pickup or the pump is failing.
