  1. This might be a failed USB socket.its rare for them to fail but they can do. However, that requires replacement of hardware. Suggest two things to do first: a factory reset -Car-Settings-Factory reset and the second is a firmware update as your Amunsden will probably have old firmware which will cause issues (anything older than 0478 is junk).
  2. Seriously, that's the height of laziness. Shoddy workmanship. Take it back to the garage and ask them to fix and make sure they don't use Zip ties either.
  3. Good news - the wheel alignment kinda fix the poor handling so I'm almost there with that one. The gearbox was also recalibrated and so far (touch wood), the gearbox seems to be a lot less jerky.
  4. Some good news and not so good news: Firstly, the wheel alignment was well out. However, the centre wheel alignment wasn't done properly 😤 I am happier to report that in terms of driving the car, it is feeling considerably better. The car does feel more planted and less like me driving on marbles. I'm also not fighting the steering. Looks like the front nearside got cloughted by the previous owner. There was an earlier comment about handling and the electronics. This car has XDS+ : in essence stability control. It means that if the car detects you are in an understeer situation, then it will dab a brake caliper to bring you back into alignment. This will explain the understeer / oversteer situation. The other piece of good news is that my MPG seems to have recovered. I'm now getting high 48-52mpg figures again (yah - cheer). I'll be visiting WES again to get the centre align of the steering wheel sorted next week.
  5. @NikTheGeekI've seen a number of folk on other threads report that the maps for 2021 are somehow broken for their MIB1 units. Solution; either go back to last year's maps and just accept that the maps are now knackered or try and patch to the latest firmware for your Amunsden / Columbus and see if that fixes things. SKODA/VW stopped updating the maps after 2020, so the information will be the same as last year. Solutions to that: upgrade your headunit and screen to a MIB2 unit - which should hopefully give updates to at least 2025.
  6. Hello to our friends in beautiful Croatia. This is obviously not normal behavour, but for us to assist or give you advice, we need a CANBUS scan done of your car. Can you find somebody with a ODBEleven (pro) scanner (or possibly even VCDS) which will give fault codes and then post those codes on here. Could be a gearbox problem, but probably most likely a fail(ing) sensor.
  7. Now is the time to get an upgrade to your car's infotainment system! I would recommend a new MIB2 Amunsden or even a Columbus system for your Scout - with touchless buttons (unless you don't have GPS - in which case, stick with an MIB2 Bolaro unit). Speak with @pab567 and see what he can sort out for you.
  8. Have a look at the Skoda Servicing information. Scroll down - and look at Oil/Inspection and Extended Scope for more information. Your car will probably need an extended scope service.
  9. Both @SashaGrace and @langers2k maybe able to assist here.
  10. I disagree - there are rules though. Items must be small - less than 2kgs and under a value of 130UKP. If you stick to those rules, stuff arrives in 10 days. I had a delivery yesterday.
  11. I am not giving up hope. I will await to see what the realignment of the gearbox achieves (and a wheel alignment). Worse case: new mechatronics unit and clutch/DSG.
  12. It looks like the unit may have been partly jail-broken, but it hasn't been done properly (otherwise it wouldn't report as Component Protection). I'm only going from your logs sadly. Please clear your logs and report again - and if CP reappears, you know you need to speak to the guy who setup the unit for you. The trouble is that if the MIB unit gets a sniff that it is in the wrong location/unit or it hasn't been properly jail-broken, CP will cause unpredictable results with the whole unit.
  13. Some good and less good news from the "Car that keeps on giving". The gearbox diagnostics went back to Skoda tech.support. I have had two reports back - one from the service advisor saying that things were slightly out of kilter, but not enough to warrant any work on the gearbox - and another from the chief tech at WES who is reported that what Skoda HQ actually said to them was - the car needed a new gearbox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW. This is now on my own back - the car is mine and I should have walked away when I spotted that the gearbox was not serviced at 40k. My warranty is null/void for the gearbox as it wasn't serviced at the correct interval. Okay; we are now down to one fault with the gearbox - and this is to do with the mechatronic clutch actuator. The car is going back in on Tuesday this week and it will be having a wheel alignment performed (because its never had it done and I think this is causing all kinds of handling issues) - at the same time, the chief tech is going to put the car onto ODIS and get it to relearn the gearbox settings from scratch. A reset of the gearbox didn't fix the jerky nature of the car, so I am hoping that a proper relearn (that will readjust the clutch settings and give me info on how much clutch there is left) will help.
  14. The Kopacek / Superskoda units are far far better than the Chinese nonsense that you get. Stick to the Kopacek parts and you will hopefully resolve your issues. It will be a problem with that is associated with odd impedances introduced by the cheap equipment on the CANBUS network and this will be causing random stuff to happen.
  15. I would suggest that you might first want to get the Component Protection removed first. The MIB system has in essence gone into lock down and will not start up its individual communication components until this issue is solved. Fix CP first - you can either get the unit jail-broken or you can go to your Skoda Dealer and get them to fix it (about an hour on ODIS). Other thoughts - have you connected the optical connection into the correct connection on the back of the MIB system (I think it is the grey connector)? Other thoughts could be a failed fibre optic connector.
  16. You need the help of @pab567 - there is 0363 for your car (SOP3.x) Yes - there is version 0478 available for your car - speak with @pab567
  17. Easy - enable closed captions - press the * button - select Auto-Translate and choose your language. They guy thinks he got the update from his local dealer.....
  18. Hello there, I am assuming that you want to download the maintainance manual for each car, then yes - you have to type in each VIN to get that information. You can also download information for the build of each car. In terms of your login; if you don't use the account for a period of 180 days, VAG tend to bin your account.
  19. Arh - applogies - you need to speak with @pab567 who will hopefully be able to give you that software.
  20. You could try and upgrade your MIB2 system to version 0363 (SOP3.x) - which might fix that niggle for you. Earlier version had bugs in the firmware that will cause odderties.
  21. I'll try using the Google calculator again.....I obviously got those figures wrong - never did understand l per 100kms
  22. Never turn up the music too loud. I once sat in an electronic lecture with the tutor telling us we could all save 5 to 8mpg (29 to 47l/100) and save our ear-drums by keeps the sound levels low. Anyway - to your DSG gearbox. I'm assume you have a DQ250 box (6 speed). My only thoughts are that as it is a dual-clutch system, the clutch selector (for that clutch pack) might be a worn. Your car should have an oil-change every 60,000 kms, so you are coming up to this point anyway. What you didn't say was that whilst you had the oil changed at 240k kms, was the filter changed at the same time? Other things it could be - dual mass flywheel starting to show its age (again, they do wear) - even a noisy clutch pack.
  23. Yes it is, but they are generally two different standards: https://www.oilspecifications.org/articles/vw_motor_oil_specifications_explained.php
  24. **Updated 06/10/21** There maybe certain circumstances where Skoda Surround will cause issues on a Columbus MIB2.5. On my 2019 Scout, it has had a Columbus retro-fitted. It caused NO ENDS of problems when I enabled up Skoda Surround (Byte 11 Hex 04). When reverted back to Byte 11, Hex 01), the coding issues and went away and sound was much improved. ****** Dear all, I am seeing lots of posting on all of the different models about poor sound from the MIB systems - particuarly in Octavia's, Kodiaks, Fabias etc. As the cars are in essence VW Polos, Golf, Passats etc etc, they all have hidden features that can be enabled. I take absolutely no credit for this - it was @SashaGrace who initally gave us this via her excellent Octavia VRS posting. As standard, MK3 Octavias & most Skodas come with 8 speakers (2 in each door - a tweeter and a bass). Without Skoda Surround and virtual base, the sound is very hollow and the MIB system internal amplifier only seems to use the tweeter, so you can understand the frustration of folk who say the audio system is rubbish. To get Skoda Surround and Virtual Base enabled, there are some cavaats that I want to make folk aware of: 1) I ~think~ this mod does work in a MIB1 system (cars from 2013 to 2016), but I've never tried it (SOP2.x 02xx) (@PetrolDave has confirmed it works on his car). 2) When the MIB2 systems came along, you do need the latest firmware to enable this properly (because the feature was broken on anything earlier than SOP3.x 0363 and SOP4.x 0478 for Bolero and Amunsden). 3) This mod does not work on systems with external amplifiers i.e. Canton systems. We can rage all day about whether the sound is better with/without Canton amplifiers - this is not the place. 4) This mod will work with ALL of the MIB system range (Bolero, Amunsden + Columbus). 5) I haven't tried this mod with a Swing system - it is highly unlikely to work. You will need: a) To find somebody locally with either a genuine VCDS system or ODBEleven Pro dongles. Coding Skoda Surround settings are: Module 5F, Byte 11 and change to Hex 04 Perform a Hard Reset by pressing and Holding the Power Button for 8 seconds (until you hear a click) - press power button again to restart the unit Enabling feature in Media/Radio - Settings Go to either RADIO or MEDIA - go to Settings -> Tick the boxes for Skoda Surround + Virtual Base.
  25. Clutch release bearings or possibly even the Dual Mass Flywheel. Sorry - both a pain to get replaced (and expensive). If you are going to have that work done, always put in a new clutch and clutch plates.
