Which engine oil to go for? 0W-20 or 5W-30
I recommend that the best stuff is the VW/Skoda/Seat 504/507 0W-30 Longlife LEIII engine oil.

WLAN connection reliability
Hey there. Nobody said that 0478 was perfect! Yes, it does that. That 'globe' acts on trying to ping the VW backend and if the server is not responding then your globe stays Red, but the connection is actually happening. Perfectly normal.

OEM vs. aftermarket mud flaps
....which actually do fit the Scout and the VRS, although not officially supported. 😁

Can the steering wheel voice command button be linked to Android Auto instead of Skoda's system
Yes....the MK3's Voice system is only marginally less useless than the MK4's so not much to choose from there. As @langers2k said, press and hold...press and hold. You also ideally need firmware version 0478 for Bolaro and Amunsden to both the internal and Android Auto voice activation to work properly.

Loss of power with growling/grumbling noise.
The other option here is the garage to check the oil in the gearbox if you are getting issues with changing gears. This points more to a problem with the gearbox or loss of oil if you canny change the gears easily. Did you hit an object in the road? If so, can somebody else to check if there is an oil underneath the car? If so, it should not be driven until the damage is assessed.

1999 Skoda Felicia 1.3 Alternator problem
Yes, if the rectifying diodes are on their way out, the alternator will be trying to charge the battery with AC.....which it doesn't generally like. Get a multimetre, put it into AC mode, one point to ground, the other to the positive and see what the AC voltage is....if you have varying AC voltage, you definately need new rectifying diodes or a new / changed alternator.

Loss of power with growling/grumbling noise.
A couple of things to check: 1) Can you check the oil level in your car please? If its low on the dipstick, then top up with 504/507 grade oil. The car could be restricting power in that direction. 2) Ditto - please check the coolant - an overheating engine will also cause power loss issues. 3) What fuel do you drive with? I know that Diesel is the correct answer, but I wanted to know if you are driving on supermarket fuel or not. If you are running of supermarket duels, please change to a branded fuel with cetan improvers in it [Esso, BP,Shell etc]. The loss of power could also be caused by a partially blocked DPF (or Diesel Particulate Filter). My current favorite stuff is a product that you put into the diesel tank after refill - is Hydra International Diesel Power Blaster which librates the TDI engine and clears out a mass of gunge and tutt from the DPF. You will also need an oil change afterwards. 4) When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? At 36k miles, I would have expected this to be done on around the 2 or 3 year old mark. A blocked filter will cause fuel restrictions and make the fuel pump work harder. 5) Sorry - this last one may seem harsh if you care for your TDI engine, but they need a good 'Italian Tune-up' occassionally - and a good 100 mile journey with higher revs to really clean out the engine. If a re-gen occurs, it needs heat and lots of it to burn up the soot in the DPF. In terms of the excessive noise; you could also have a leak from the exhaust manifold or from the exhaust system itself (which would reduce power via the positive pressure the engine needs to maintain good operational running).

OEM vs. aftermarket mud flaps
Yes - I agree. If you are clever and have the budget, you might be able to get a set at a good price on kopacek.com / superskoda - which were selling fronts and rears for £15 each. you've got to take into account P&P, weight and tax though.
-
Tyre noise
Agreed - my comment wasn't a whole-hearted approval - it was just better than cheap Chinese tyres at a budget to hopefully suit the OP - who seemed to have a tight budget to contend with.

Tyre noise
Yes - that won't help. Would try and get the best tyres you can afford. Avoid the OEM Bridgestones; would recommend either Dunlop or Michelin's

Octavia 3 VRS TDI 184 4x4 with many extras
Car seems to now be fixed - however, sadly - life curve-ball has been thrown at us, so the car is now up for sale.

Skoda Octavia 3 MY2016 DRL turning yellow
Two thing: if you have a bulb for your DRL's (on S, SE, SE Business specs), then it is just a bulb replacement. If you have an SE-L, Scout or VRS, then you need to get the dealer to look at this as this sounds like a problematic LED panel for the headlights. Check the condition of the front of the headlight - and if the front headlight is yellowing, then you need to clean and restore the headlight as appropriate. I personally recommend AutoGlym Headlight Restorer.
-
Tyre noise
Yes - get the alignment sorted firt - the Octavia's are susceptible to getting their tracking out of alignment.

Looking for some advice.
It should be set to: Sound_System_External or Hex 04

Lost DAB - Columbus MIB1
Brilliant - in that case - can you get in touch @Gizmo who will add you onto the VCDS register - and you can then look at the numerous mods you can do for your Octavia III - If you correspond with both @SashaGrace and also @langers2k, they can also assist with VCDS mods. We will help you understand how the system works. Many thanks for doing this!

Lost DAB - Columbus MIB1
The alternative is that you can financially afford it, then please go and purchase a VCDS system for yourself and be our Cornwall correspondant for scanning and fixing any niggles. https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCV23.html

Fault code P106500 fuel pressure regulation control difference
Couple of areas that I would look at: 1) The incoming fuel pressure. Have a look at the fuel filter to see if you are not suffering from fuel starvation. 1a) Check the status of the fuel pump - this may also be showing signs of failure. 2) Check that you don't have pressure issues on the high-pressure side of your fuel system into your injectors. At 209,000kms or 129k miles, I would also be look at fuel injectors that could be failing. 3) Make sure that the high-pressure fuel pump is also not failing - from low pressure to high-pressure.

Map update issues 2021 help please
Okay - firstly - welcome to the world of VW Nav systems. It can be challenging, but we are all in the same boat here. I am assuming from the update procedure that you have an Amunsden system. Secondly, even the latest maps from Skoda are out of date - try to utilise the VW ones - there is a whole section elsewhere on the forum: You need the ECE whole europe maps - which will work on your Skoda system. PM me if you need help.

Lost DAB - Columbus MIB1
What can sometimes happen is that the DAB option can be accidently coded out when a firmware update is applied. The artifaxing from updates can occur. You will probably need to re-enable DAB - but it would also be a good thing to get a scan of your car to see if the radio is complaining of firmware checksum error (easy to code and fix) or whether the DAB option has been accidently switched out. Worse case - an hour on ODIS to reenable DAB (about 90UKP) There is an interesting thread here from Ross-Tech forums: https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/18122/
