  1. Yep... For some reason the lower specs get a single light on the 'wrong' side... So I'm learning to reverse a manual whilst riding the brakes as the brake lights are far brighter. Hopefully thats the only annoying issue on your new one though... As it looks a cracking motor otherwise!
  2. A second reversing light on the nearside is what I'm after. The single fog light and lack of rear lights on the tailgate doesn't bother me, although I have enabled both fog lights on the previous Fabia and Octavia
  3. Ah .. thanks. I've already sealed the boot strut balls but it sounds like the lights will be worth looking at
  4. Now that's interesting as I was wondering whether the cables might be there so I could retrofit a cluster from a higher spec model but hadn't got round to checking...
  5. What model do you have and what country are you in? If it's an SE without the highline lights then there will only be one on one of the tailgate light clusters, as the other one is a dummy with no LED's in it.
  6. Rear lamp clusters on the tailgate are on my list to look at but I've already tightened them up and a good feel round them through the access points for the fixings seems to suggest they are bone dry. There's also no evidence of accident damage (all the paint matches, there's no evidence of overspray, there are no new seams, and the hatch hinges and bolts both appear to have original paint on them) and nothing to indicate such on any of the records. I had a play with the tailgate seal on Sunday to see if I could ease it further out to create a better seal and it 'seems' to have been improved things the last day or so but who knows... it might just be because we've had less rain! After that the only other thing I can think of at the moment is the number plate fixing rivnuts and whether it's getting in past one of those as where the water is collecting behind the tailgate trim does seem to roughly line up roughly with one. I'll wait for a dry day, take the plate off and seal round them just in case. After that I'm flummoxed
  7. Looking good but... shouldn't the join in that boot seal be at the bottom and not the top so any water can't drip in??
  8. Looks better with the silver wheels...
  9. Have to say that Kia is a great looking bit of kit - far better than the Enyaq that lives locally
  10. I think its supposed to be Leeds United related...???!!!
  11. Well I thought I'd fixed this by tightening up the rear lights and adjusting the tailgate stops - but in the heavy rain over the last couple of days it's doing it again - I'm starting to wonder if I have a dodgy hatch seal or a rear light seal that needs a bit of attention... I may yet go back to the supplying dealer and ask them about the warranty on the car given it was Skoda Approved, and whether I can take it to another Skoda dealer to look at, bearing in mind I have no confidence in the supplying service manager's knowledge given his previous comments... Edit Just had another close look and I 'think' water is getting in at the top of the hatch opening over the seal - it seems to be where rainwater 'pools' against the seal due to the angle of our driveway and maybe the lack of pressure on the seal from the hatch at that point. I'm therefore wondering if I can get the hatch hinges re-set to tighten this or a new seal (maybe a bigger revised part?)
  12. plastic bag with some silica gel crystals inside to absorb any moisture??
  13. Looks great but would be even better without the aero covers on the wheels
  14. Have you driven it? After a flat battery those lights usually reset and go out once the car is driven for a short distance.
  15. It just runs to an outlet to ground in the wheel arch so the best bet is to poke some strimmer wire down it
  16. I always think they look a bit sad if they are just like a normal plate trying to spell something or repeating the vehicle type... but then that's juts me so if you want to - go for it. (this from a man who quite likes his Northern Irish plate... in Sheffield)
  17. we had a 1.9Tdi Comfort from new and did about 130k miles in it before we sold it. The subsequent owner then put another 50k miles or so on it before finally started to give up the ghost.
  18. That's a shame... We had a mk1 estate and it was great. Really good packaging and loads of space for a small car.
  19. Was going to suggest something like a Vitara but the towing limit is 1200kg... What about a Sportage or Tucson? They would fit the bill in terms of capacity and I had a Sportage as a hire car not long back - absolutely full of toys and very comfortable and well built but shorter than the Superb. As an aside we went from a 4x4 Octavia II to a Kodiaq and my wife has no issues with the Kodiaq but did think the Superb too big...
  20. Yeah - currently scouring Ebay for options but it may be that a new one goes on the Christmas List... Good point and reminder on the DVD player though! I do have one in the lounge already but it would need a looooonnnng cable as it's on the other side of the room but also have a Tesco's basic DVD player in the kid's room that I could temporarily re-purpose until something crops up!
  21. Well I had another CD player die last night... It's the Teac CD-P1260 and is only 5 years old so not too happy really. Not sure if it's related but the CD jumped and then continued playing so my daughter took the CD out to clean it and that was it - it refuses to read the CD with a 'No Disc' error... Annoyed as with the current electronics shortage as the cheapest replacement I can find is a Tibo (never heard of them) at £180...
  22. Finally found my thread about this from 2007... You should be able to download the photos to see what I did but may need to change the file type to jpg
  23. I had that issue on our mk1 Fabia years ago whenditting a single din Octavia headunit and cd changer. I just recut the RH he's in the dash with a penknife to suit the new trim
  24. looks liek something heavy has been dropped on it from above... any building work going on nearby or have you parked near any skips / builders vans /DIY shops?
  25. Hmmm... Having seen the issues with panoramic roofs on other models that would be a big no-no on the VRS for me...
