That is a very pretty setup, much neater than mine. I have done a similar thing inside my catch can. I extended the inlet connection and actually put a breather filter on the inside of the can. Only steam come out of my outlet pipe now. Top work chaps!

I did that at first but wanted a more professional solution. I was also concerned that dust and crap might get up the pipe as it cools. A bit pathetic I know but meh.

professional truckers in the US use this mod all the time, and you can imagine the distances they travel. It is legal for commercial truck use there (only). No reports of anything bad, but if you make the hose too short you will get oil vapour condensing out and messing up your engine bay.

In true pikey mod fashion, keeping it simple seems to be the best bet

Looks good joel, no my leakage is through the filler cap... spoke to a lad who works for VW and he thinks one of my clips is broken as the filler cap can move hence leaking oil

i nicked mine from an old washing machine

but you could use rubber hose or for an oem look some black flexible electrical conduit (they ran out at my last place of work hence the w/m hose)

I got mine from Motorworld, but wasn't cheap.

A local motor factors will sell it on huge rolls by the metre, probably a couple of quid per metre.

Catch can arrived yesterday, made a plastic partition and stuck it in with silicon sealant and using coarse wire wool for a filter.

Decided to recirculate - worried about a cooling engine drawing moist air in, particularly at this time of year.

Getting the hose onto the crankcase cover was the devil's own job - it still isn't on enough, is there a technique for making thick hoses more pliable? I tried the kettle and a hairdryer

Just to let people know that 99% of the heavy vehicles in this country run their crankcase breathers to atmosphere, these inculde Cummins and Volvo.

Just thought I'd pop in to say mine's running like a dream still, no oil through the breather, no engine oil being used, and a fair bit being caught by the catch can.

My "vented to atmos" CCV is working great too, same as Joel, no loss of oil

Do you know what? The best bit of this mod is running without the engine cover - the noise (when giving it the beans) is great!

would this mod, combined with EGR turned down, reduce carbon build up on the turbo vanes or would it have minimal effecT?

Carbon + oil vapour = black sticky goo is the equation.

Ive taken it back off just now.

Going to have to get proper pipes for it.

Will have another play about with the idea soon again.

Filled it with wire wool the other day aswell asfter i emptyed it.

I think said this before but i want to do this as i have oil build up in my intercooler pipes which are leaking out and dripping onto my drive belt (stupid design fault) but being under warranty i d on,t think i can do it?
