Cheap Ebay Alternative to MFD2 installed.

Your friendly skoda dealer can sell you a kit which includes all the required wiring, the double din holder and the outer facia and IIRC the price is very reasonable.

Autoleads also do a facia adaptor, but the quality and appearence is not very OEM unlike the official kit.

skoda do a double din one?

I think its the same one you get, if you go down the single din route except you dont fit the cubby hole.

oh right, i thought the skoda one i had seen was one single moulded piece that you couldn't remove the cubby hole from

Correct - see attached pdf

Oops, I wonder if it could be adapted.

Just been messing on paint.net to see if I could make something that looks like the MFD3 loading screen for the Witson unit, not perfect but looks ok when loading nav program

Wonderbadger: That looks great - any chance you could send me a copy of the pic in a pm please. I'd like to replace the one ive got on my Pioneer system which i made up - it's pretty tacky :(

The Skoda one can't be easily adapted. I had a look at one before installing my current double DIN setup. I ended up getting the Autoleads kit, as this does have a removable cubby for double DIN installs.

I'll admit that it isn't quite as nice at the Skoda adapter, but it's still pretty good.

The Pioneer unit is very good. I had chance to play with a F900BT, and it was superb. In my opinion, better even than the Columbus unit. The mapping is much more up to date, and you get 7 digit postcode entry (as opposed to 5 on the Columbus). The media features are also very good, with iPod functionality as good as I've seen anywhere (even supports iPod video playback).

Bagpuss.

Hmm maybe, but it doesn't look that good on the Octavia dash though:

:iagree:

I think these pioneer are ok

but come on in the skoda dash its so SQUARE and UGLY

Thats just my opinion

utterly fugly - and can we keep to the topic.

If you want to discuss fugly square units start a new thread! :)

I installed mine today and all is fine apart from the satnav. I purchased the I go 6 software as suggested on a previous page but it does not work.

Any ideas??

I agree with S4int its mr T-1000 (rich) he is your man

Correct - see attached pdf

I'm after part C that goes around the unit once its in, just like the one in scouter2 post

I want to go for the pioneer double din unit as it has speed cameras included

Part C (if available on its own) won't help you, as the cut out isn't double-din sized, it's bigger. To use Part C, you need a double din version of Part A also - if such a moulding exists that is!

On the single DIN kit it's Part A that provides the standard DIN slot and then screws in to the dash - Part C is only a basic trim piece, just like the standard one fitted, but with a slighty different cut out.

See - http://briskoda.net/items-sale/octavia-ii-facia-single-din-conversion-kit-painting-silver/101099/ for photo of Part C (and before you ask, sorry this is no longer available)

Anybody know if the Bluetooth on the Witson setup works OK with the Iphone?

You can still get the one in the link from Halfords, its the one for the double din im after, and I also need a wiring loom

The ebay seller is now also listing these.

2 Din Car DVD/TV Player GPS Bluetooth SKODA OCTAVIA on eBay, also GPS Systems, Navigation GPS, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 23-Aug-08 16:51:42 BST)

These are the same shape as the stream/audience HU, so you wouldnt need another facia. This is anotehr CE based device, but it seems to offer slightly less in the way of features than the units everyone else has got.

Oh yes nice one Manny

Its now on the "witson" website

The first Skoda one was the model W2-D780S

This later type is the model W2-D782S

That item is I think the original one mentioned earlier in this link rather than the new stream sized unit which is still £369 even on the english in-car inventory.

So it will fit strait into the MK2 without having to get a new fascia surround
