Good point. It is precisely why I brought mine really, and I couldn't give a crap about what people think of the badge. If I wanted to pose I'd get an ASBO or something like that and it's also much more fun being stealthy and mistaken for the police! LOL

But how many chav tits can you do in a standard octy . . . . .

Have Xenons on me Octy and you come up quick behind someone they dont half slow down quick thinking its the old bill . . . . hmmm should get one of those 12v rotateing magnetic blue beacons. . . . . .

I am 32 and have had my mK1 Octy for 5 months now and love it, Before i had an astra, escort, metro and the worst car for me was a vectra that took £2500 in repair bills over a 2 year spell.

People say to me that dont know about cars....oh my god why did you buy a skoda....Little do they know its better built than your average saxo, corsa, escort, nova etc.

To be honest i never would of thought i would own a skoda 15 years ago but they have really improved over the years and the cost to own is very reasonable.

You never know in another 5 years Lada may be making a come back (you never know :))

Lada never went away, they just don't import into UK.

The newer models aren't "warmed up Fiat leftovers" either.

I just turned 30 last week, and I bought my Octavia diesel as my previous cars (BMW 328i's, Subaru Impreza, and a Golf GTi Turbo) cost me a fortune to run, and I had had enough of lining the governments pockets evey week.

In all honesty, although my car will win no races, it is the best car I have ever owned.

I'm 57, bought the vRS 2 years ago after years of driving underpowered, overweight, understeering rep mobiles.

Still makes me grin (except when SWMBO is in passenger seat and complains about G force in the corners)

Anybody older with a vRS?

If you are sensible, smart and an enthusiast then the skoda is a fantastic buy and certainly within budget of many people of this age

That is exactly what I thought when I bought mine, a year ago aged 21.

47 and bought the vRS because it was the cheapest way to get a 200bhp+ car of the age which behaved sensibly well with a bit of space to carry stuff.

Badge means nothing to me either way - I had a LSE120 Estelle years ago, biggest pile of poo ever but it served the purpose at the time and cost next to nothing, I vowed never to have another Skoda ever again :)

My cosworth was my midlife crisis at 40 lol :D . Wish I still had it.. best car ever for the ":D per £" factor
