Stumbled across this the other day:

Skoda invited to police conference

Monday 6 April 2009, 17:09

Skoda has been invited by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) to have an exclusive slot at its national conference in July.

The carmaker, which already supplies cars to 42 of the 43 UK constabularies, will be able to show a three-minute DVD detailing its work with various police forces, including converting Octavia Scouts for dog handlers and Octavias for motorway police. It will also contain testimonials from constabularies.

The DVD will then be circulated to around 9,000 contacts in all the emergency services and can be used by Skoda’s retail network.

Skoda currently supplies 600 vehicles into the emergency services. It hopes to grow this to 1,500 over the next three to four years after appointing a sector specialist to nurture relationships.

I had a marked 4x4 TDI go flying past me the other day - blue lights and all on the M20 towards Ashford. Seemed to be going at a fair rate of knots too. Kent also use quite a few Fabias, always see them on my travels. Also saw an unmarked black Octavia estate with blues on the go a few months back on the same road.

Funny, my car is a black Octavia estate and its amazing the number of people that slow down as they come up behind me

Caffyns Ashford has always got a marked Skoda in one shape or form out the back for one reason or another.

Sussex have a few unmaked vRSs knocking about.

.

That's why I posted this - I drove a white Focus Hire car for about week a few years back and ever one was so politely and never dreamed of under cutting me as at the time the local police had quite a few, helped I wore a black jumper at the time:thumbup: Also the Skoda is a dam good car and value too, you don't see too many Golfs do you?

On a side point the local hospital has 2 Silver TDI Scouts as paramedic cars all decked out in blues with battenbergs etc.

James.

There's an Octavia police estate doing the rounds in the Dagnell area, which I imagine is probably Beds police's. I think I've also seen them in Hemel too as a command(?) car. We did once have an unmarked silver mark I Octy in Hemel keeping a stealthy eye on things, but I've not seen that for a while. Someone on this website probably owns it now!

...A good friend of mine was stopped only last week near Portsmouth by an Octy vRS. I have also seen an unmarked race blue and an unmarked silver Octy vRS on the M27 in recent weeks, so I think they still have a few knocking around !

Your're right about the race blue one, thats the newest one I think. I've spotted at least 6 Octy vRS that Hampshire police use in and around the Portsmouth area, 2 Mk1s in Silver and Black, also 3 Mk2s in Race Blue like you said, a Black one which I saw in a local dealers car park after fitting out, and also one in Silver.

They also use a Mk2 vRS estate in full marked livery

This is probably why Hampshire Police have no money!! haha

Interesting statement - care to expand on that a bit for us

Inadequate power in fast road situations, not enough pick up. Clearly having been spoilt with mk1 and 2 vRS's (and having my own) colours this somewhat, but it is embarrassing just how slow they are. They just aren't quick enough to pick up speed, it seems to take ages to get up to a reasonable speed.

Hello,

Just these last few months have seen the full chequered Octavia's VRS's down here in Camborne, Cornwall. We don't have any motorways in this county, only strips of dual-carriageways.

Not much call for chase pursuits, I suppose, haven't seen any unmarked VRS's.

Best regards.

I love this car!!!!! Where did you get the roof lights?

Hello,

You'll have to get some large N.Y.P.D badges on it, I got some photos of police-cars when visiting New York, to give you some idea.

In comparison to size of vehicles their Lincolns (generally) are not all that much bigger, than the Octavia VRS.

Best regards.

Quite a few marked and un-marked around here (West Mercia/Gloucestershire) and near the In-Laws in Kent. Both Police & Ambulance seem to be using them these days, and following the credit crunch, the marked cars are all 1.9TDI Ambients LOL!

Passed Cleveland police's silver unmarked vrs just the other day on the parkway. Legally of course, always wary on that road and the A66,especially now that I have a 2.0tdi vrs, extremely well impressed at its speed and acceleration, comfort, build quality, specification, best car I've ever had.

I wonder how many people cack them selves when they see this on the road even though its not marked up as a UK car, bet you could get people to pull over if you had the light bar connected while on the road

My mate has got a rather plain S spec Volvo S60 T5, i've been toying with the idea for a while of blue led flashers behind the grill, even though im well aware its very naughty, I just like the idea of putting the wind up some of the stupid boy racers we get round here

Humberside police still have a couple of mk1 vrs's but they are starting to get rid of them and they also have a few mk2 vrs's too but there all unmarked cars,

i've also got this police vrs on my drive LOL
