Speeding penalties - How Much - you can guess why Im asking

Featured Replies

Those of you know what a sedate driver I am will be suprised to hear that Ive been informed by post that somebody has taken a picture of the rear of my car without my knowledge & they can confirm allegidly beyond reosnable doubt that I was doing 82 in a 70

Whats the likely penalty

It also appears its a very poor picture, they admitted over the phone that the reg is not very clear & I have asked for a copy of the piccie before I admit it, If its poor is it worth fighting it.

Also do you now have to sign the form or does that get out still work ??

82? At most I'd reckon on

Sorry to hear that Stuart but agree with Ian.... Whereabouts were you snapped?

Chris

Are you a mason?

I'd go for the 6 points but not sure on the fine.

How sneaky of them. If you really want to know have a look round www.5ive-0.com as I'm sure there are lots of similar questions on there already, or register and ask yourself.

3 points, has to be +15mph over limit for 6 points

If the registration isn't very clear, how do they know it was you? They're not allowed to search the database to try and match 'missing' reg. numbers with car type and colour: they have to be able to read it clearly.

I'd be tempted to fight it. I'd sign the form, but state that you can't be sure where you were on that day/time, and then wait for them to take you to court.

I discussed it with a very helpful young lady & the Spoiler & stickers match my car but I agree they arent allowed to work that way. I will wait for the piccie to come in the post & then decide

A34 Near Oxford , Saturday before last is where its alleged !!

Was Wendy driving? Or was it you? Could have been either really, knowing how you two swap around the driving ;)

..by post? was this a speeding ticket then or a camera van or what?

A guy at work got 'done' in a similar way and used the old one that he didn't know who was driving at the time. Was either him or his wife. Actually it was him he later told me but he thought he'd try it on. He ended up getting locked up for 6 months and is due out on Tuesday next week.

Actually that last bit is a lie. He got off with it scott free....Jammy git ;)

If the reg can't be read without enhancement (make sure it's the photo as taken) then they're relying on you admiting it. More details on speed trap as linked by Denis.

I hope you get off.

82 in a 70 zone? Isnt exactly cannonball run speeds ;) The only mistake you made was getting caught, those swines. :finger:

Not really sure, once I can establish the location I will have a better idea, I saw a van on one bridge but thought they only took forward facing pictures, this was rear facing

Eek, did you admit to them on the phone, that your car has similar stickers and spoilers? That was a foolish move!

I think, if it were me, I'd have my stickers fall off. And you can always study the picture very carefully, to make sure it doesn't quite match your car. There are a lot of Skodas about, you know, and many of them have stickers.

If you deny it's your car, I doubt they'll come and check. If you spin it out, they'll drop the case.

Didnt admit anything, just asked them to describe it, Im still not 100% certain it was me, hense the reason Ive asked for the photo, We were on that road on the day in question but the time dosent seem to tally

3 points and

The magistrates guidelines for 81 to 90 mph on a motorway is 3 pts and a

I got caught doing 59 in a 40 & only got 3 points & a

Hows this for unfair - 33mph in a 30 limit - quiet road just before becomes a 40 mph zone:

3 points and

...........got both notification 3 months after - must have been an unmarked white van in the area that week (judging by the angle of the photo) its so easy to slip a couple of mph over without realizing it....................

 You should get the notification within 14 days of the offence! If it's outside of that period you can give them the :finger:
