The LED Lights Thread...

Recommended Posts

Yep that's what I saw yesterday (then I couldn't see anything for about an hour!)

So 2 packs of Nightbreakers on the order form!! Along with the Silver Indicators, 2x 1156-CREE DRL's and a set of H8 LED Fogs :)

Where did I put my Piggy Bank??

To be honest I would just upgrade the bulbs behind the projector lens. There is more than enough light from the standard bulbs in the main beam, the OEM are usually Phillips or osram.

Also, if you plan to use your fogs, if you live somewhere rural I would be very picky! I got 5w CREE thinking they would be good......I couldn't be more wrong, I'm saving for decent ones now.

From what I can see there is an H7 bulb under a w5w bulb to the right as you look at that picture, is that right? If so then you have another H7 behind the projector lens.

Easy test, turn on your dipped and the projector lens (on the outside under the indicator) should be lit. Then flick main beam on and the bulb in the reflector lens should also illuminate.

2xH7 is my guess

Yep, it's the same set up as the older silver lighted VRS: two separate H7 bulbs in each light unit.

hi guys thought id fire up a few pics of my recent mod, had a few bad experiences of LED in the past on non VAG cars so set out looking for alternatives, i came upon these they are Mtec super white 501 bulbs and have a much darker blue stain on the glas they are made from manufactured to high quality in japan and competitively prices at 3.99 hid's 4 u.

pics below show both older bulb on the left and the new on the right.

as you can see the original is very bright but the mtec is a nicer colour, the mtec isnt particularly visible during the day but hey you always have your dipped beams if the visibility is really poor

Hi Everyone.

I'm trying to work out what to go for here.

2011 Fabia VRS Estate

H7 HID Kit for Projectors - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H7-Canbus-Pro-Mid-Slim-HID-Conversion-kit-All-Colours-/370258289333?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item56351d22b5

Rear Numberplate Bulbs - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290602060572?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Main Interior Bulb - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5x-38mm-39mm-NUMBER-PLATE-INTERIOR-LIGHT-FESTOON-BULB-6-LED-XENON-WHITE-239-272-/290635058386

Map Light Bulbs - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-7-LED-WHITE-XENON-CAR-SIDE-LIGHTS-BULBS-501-T10-W5W-/150650594819?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item231379a60

Now, the other things I want to do are:

Indicators - I presume Philips Silvervision 581's for the front, but what do people use for the side and rear?

Main Beam - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Osram-Night-Breaker-Limited-Edition/dp/B00AQJBV80 ... I am tempted to just get 2 pairs of these over the HID kit, but I loved the HID's on my old S2000. So fantastic.

Boot light - I want this to look standard, and it sounds like they are a tight fit. Will this work - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-SMD-LED-501-T10-W5W-PUSH-WEDGE-360-HID-XENON-WHITE-SIDE-LIGHT-BULB-/320863345485?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ab4f21b4d ?

Are there any other bulbs worth upgrading? I've seen some people with front footwell lights. Do I have these and am I blind to them, or is this a kit I can get?

theyre quite good at night, not great for during the day but im pretty pleased with the effect, at the end of the day sidelights are usually on alongside another more powerfull bulb so the visability thing wasnt much of an issue for me.

Hey guys,

After reading through this forum and looking at the various links people have posted, half of them don't work as it was a while ago :(

I was just wondering which bulbs you would recommend for the - DRLs on my monte, and also the Main interior lights and map lights.

Sorry to be a pain

This is what I've got installed:-

Main interior light 44mm Festoon: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271006347961?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Map readers X 2 and side lights X 2 - w5w: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4X-ERROR-FREE-Canbus-White-T10-W5W-501-194-168-8-SMD-LED-Side-Wedge-Light-Bulb-/400395416830?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d396d34fe

DRL's P21W: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-1156-382-BA15S-P21W-White-19-LED-SMD-Canbus-Error-Free-Turn-Signal-Light-Bulb-/281115364101?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4173c80b05

Although some people prefer Cree's for the DRL's:  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2PCS-25-1156-P21W-7W-CREE-Power-Xenon-White-LED-Reverse-Brake-Light-Bulb-Canbus-/280956875092?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item416a55b154

Number plate lights 36mm festoon X 2: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300989450027?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

The glove box and the boot lights also take one w5w each.

You can obviously choose different LED's to suit your budget or style.  As long as you stick to canbus ready led's for the exterior lights you should be fine.

I still don't understand how the reflector is illuminated (dipped beam) when the H7 is not (main beam only)

PHv7h14.jpg

I can see the Side light (innermost) the H7 (central) and then the reflector with the Indicator above. it's the black arts I tells ye!!

What i found to be a big improvement style wise (particularly with my monte) is silver indicator bulbs)

Quicke question regarding the LED interior replacement bulbs - do they still dim like the originals when switched on and off?

mine do and there is no draw when they are off, so no slight glow like others have said.
