If you could only change ONE thing...what would it be?

Camshaft drive through shafts & bevel gears rather than rubber bands.

Automatic folding mirrors for me as well I reckon. Or a tailgate that doesn't get the boot contents wet when you open it after rain....

Well, apart from the 3.0TDI VAG unit that you can't fit under the Octy bonnet of course :)

Drivers Door card, make it strong enough to put my right elbow on without denting it,

I've not had a problem with that one, but if I did I'd be tempted to get one in decent nick from a salvage yard, then set about reinforcing the underside.

Don't think that would do it Steve, the door card top is like a sponge rubber covered in a rudder like finsh, sort of padded. I think the problem lies in the the sponge rubber seperating from the covering. It like bubbles up.

It's the top that needs sorting

Yep, understand what you mean. My thought was whether you could cut into the foam on the underside, slide in a reinforcement, which would prevent the elbow pressure from deforming the surface.

Black headlining - even if it was a £200 option like on Audis.

Handsfree option on manual models. My Parrot is rubbish!!!

Apart from that, I love the car.

I'd change the soft clutch and DMF.

Not really a problem to do. Just buy the retrofit Bluetooth kit.

Better door cards and no dpf.

Another 30bhp or make it as quick to 60 as the Audi A3 170

It has on the vrs, if you like it that much order a new vRS one from Skoda or get one from a breakers, I like others would have liked folding mirrors

Hard one really, Im generally very pleased with the Scout, More power would be nice, adjustable suspension for hardness of ride at the flick of a switch would be good but as for anything else hard to really think of anything obvious.

Probably my biggest gripe is the short warranty, 60,000 miles, we are at 55 & its not 2 years old for a few weeks

That's a decent one Stuart. The adjustable suspension option available to the TT, Scirocco, Mk6....

Yet another one that would close the gap between the 'budget' brand and the VAG big hitters though :)

I now see there are 4 and 5yr warranty options for new Skodas, on the configurator.

A decent driver's seat lumbar support that works for more than 6 months .... I am 11.5 stone .

Lighter alloys

Electric folding door mirrors option on the vRS .............. why there isn't one is beyond reason :@

Get rid of the stupid box with the pop up lid on top of the dashboard. Whenever I clean the inside of the windscreen I must open it accidentally about twenty times.

Stereo controls on the steering wheel on ALL Octavia's - its 2012 for christs sake!

Stereo controls on the steering wheel on ALL Octavia's - its 2012 for christs sake!

I spend about 50% of my driving time in a company van (2011 Transit Connect... the ****tiest light commercial on the market If you need a van, dont for your own sake buy one! )that has stereo controls on the steering wheel....

Then keep reaching for them when i get back into the mk 1... feel like a prat every time!

Bolero Stereo in my Greenline or maxidot. Belgian Spec only gives the swing stereo but you do get rear parking sensors, Auto dimming rear view mirror, rain sensor light assistant and metallic paint as standard above the UK spec.</

My vote would be for heated steering wheel, on cold days, heated seats and mirrors aren't going to help my freezing fingers that are cold after just scraping ice off the car with or without gloves :bandit:

Why? On-street parking, helpful in car parks too. Plus one of the garages I had involved folding them in to get past the garage door frame.

I've had a mirror ripped off in the past, twice - when parked on-street. Once by some helpful passer by and once by a motorbike that clipped it off (judging by the tyre marks he left, a few centimetres from the door). In these circumstances, having them automatically folded in would have at least given them a fighting chance of staying correctly fitted to the car.
