Photos always tend to cover up all the bad bits quite well...found that out particularly this week when looking for another car for the mrs.

Can't see this video, where should I be looking?

Nice Dan, and in the not to often seen red (my favourite colour), Funduro's are usually silver or that BMW metallic turqoise colour so this is a nice rare beast!

It truly sucks not being able to do something you once did and enjoyed. If bike is too heavy for now perhaps something a little smaller to build back up to it might be in order even a wee 125 or a scooter. Nothing wrong with booking an instructor or an advanced instructor for a lesson explaining the circumstances and see how it goes.

As I have free access to a good trainer, I am going to take full advantage. He can even lend me a bike.

About six months after the accident I went to look at a new bike, Swmbo said she was fine with it, so off I went, had the cash in my pocket, but, something said don't buy it and I have always listened to that wee voice in my head. So, politely let the vendor down gently and went home, I think sub-consciously I knew I wasn't ready but just couldn't admit to myself yet.

My wife asked "Well did you buy it then?" and when I said "No" she promptly burst into tears. I was flabbergasted! "I thought you were alright with me getting another one" said I. "So did I, until you drove off with full intention" she replied.

Basically I can't put her and my boys through that hell again so, Fabia VRS Tdi's it is for me!

The REALLY HARD PART is :- I so want another one!

The itch is begging to be scratched and when I tell people that they think I'm mad. They just don't understand the allure, that perfect moment when you get the corner just right, knee grazing the tarmac, man and machine in perfect harmony. God that sounds like an advert! but anybody who is into bikes will tell you the same thing, there is just nothing that even comes close to the feeling, not even sex. (I would have argued that when I was a lot younger) :giggle:

Been there done that.

Was drooling over the triumph explorer and tiger 800 but head ruled heart for once.

SWMBO is actually fine with the concept but has said I have to prove to myself I can still ride and enjoy it.

You hit the nail square on the head with the last paragraph.

The only thing that has beaten it for me was a tandem skydive.

Now that's an adrenelin rush!'

Your final sentence also opens volumes and I will admit chatting with the Samaritans more than once because I was so depressed about the loss of the "old me", there is no easy way around that, I had a lot of help from my family and friends and health professionals so was fortunate to pull through the worst of the lows. If you ever need to chat just PM me, I may not have the answers but it does help to talk.

It never fails to surprise me..

We don't know each other apart from reading each others posts on here but your offer of an ear is exactly why this forum is so good.

Much appreciated.

you certainly find out who your true friends are in these circumstances.

Thankfully I have had exceptional support from family and almost all my friends.

Those that turned their backs, fine, but karma is a bitch.

What? Jump out of a perfectly good aeroplane even with a parachute on?

No chance!

(Looks for the diahorrea emoticon, ....nope, closest I can find is these two   lol)

You definitely have larger cojones than I do my friend!

"Karma is a bitch."

I couldn't have put it better, 100% CORRECT!

Post #140 on page 5 of this thread :D

Now I think I have caught up with the thread I shall post what I popped in for a very entertaining video of some off roading well green lane style on a very inappropriate bike a nice GSXR1000 :peek: Enjoy.

wow, what an adventure that was!

I rode bikes before I drove cars, was my old mode of transport for 2 years.

I started in 2006 at the age of 16 with a 1989 Simson S50. Looking back it was very slow and not all that reliable but massive fun at that age... did 3,000 miles in 8 months.

*notice Papa Duck's vRS...

That was swapped for an MZ TS125 with my dad's good friend. He then went on to rework the Simson and it'll now do 50mph!!

73700_10150319142095145_1793397_n.jpg

Had that for around 6 months - 5,000 miles. I passed my test on it, dropped it and used to take my girlfriend all over on it. In the end the barrel seals went and it got put away in the back of the garage. Remember that friend of my dad's; he's just finished restoring it to tip top condition. Looks lovely now!

So after the 125 had its last tantrum I hauled my dad's old Supa5 out of the shed. Stuck a new battery and some petrol in it and that was it, on the road again after 11 years (I didn't even change the tyres!).

Had some fun on that bike! I recall having it off the clocks at 85mph overtaking bemused car drivers. Haha. Fell off it too - girlfriend has never fully forgiven me! Anyway, that too went the same way as the 125 and stopped running. Back of garage and time/money constraints mean it is still there. That was in 2008 and I didn't ride anything again until earlier this year when I bought this, a 2005 Yamaha YBR125.

I bought it for the missus to get some practice on before passing her test. Its a cracking little thing, but too slow. Starts all the time and runs regular as clock work too. I did a bit of greenlaning on it (accidently) and considering its a road bike, it performed excellently.

So now I pressing the missus to do her test before the end of the year so we can sell it and get something we can both enjoy. And thats where you guys come in - I need some advice. I want something that'll be quick - but not mad; around 500cc. It has to be relatively light and small for the missus to cope - she's only 5ft2in. I'd rather it was reliable too as I'm not so good with the spanners. And the important thing, I don't like faired bikes, old skool styling ftw - hence nearly buying a Kawasaki Zephyr before. Any recommendations - I want to spend around £1500.

Loving that MZ, we have a had a few of those in our family, at least three now. I had the enduro model like yours and my brother had the comfort version. Enormously fun bikes, I wanted to buy one again recently, but at the time couldn't find one about

Had totally forgotten about the "Sidestand" off the back wheel - first time I rode an MZ totally forgot to kick the stand back up - all went well until the first lefthand bend , where the stand dug into the ground and nearly catapulted me off.

Hey Fubar, I found some pics of my rather second hand "new" helmet if I do the links you can have a look. It's on Photobucket, I have also found some pics of the yellow peril.

I have deleted my Photoshop account because I can't work out how to use the damn thing properly. (Told you I had memory issues) :giggle:

Hey the pics come up right away with Photobucket so you won't have to do any faffing about for me after all :whew:

Come on my bike has a bigger engine than that what were you thinking???

I had a slight case of financial embarrassment at the time, however as soon as I could afford it I bought another Primera GT, one of my favourite cars of all time. It handled like a dream straight out of the box and had a reasonable amount of get up and go for a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine.

See attached pic.

Super Dan you have large cojones mate, a green lane run on a GSXR1000, big stones man, very big stones.

Sweet the 750 is one of best all time all rounders!

Are you or is anyone else here going to this years Ulster Grand Prix? 90th anniversary this year of the fastest road race in the world!

(Tries hard to remove wife's thumb from forehead) No, sorry mate, can't go, wife won't let me. (Thumb print still clearly visible!)

Currently own a big Guzzi, or rather several if you put the bits all in the appropriate piles. Owned the main one since 1980, done around 200,000miles. also had a couple of Hondas, usually after getting teed off with particularly recalcitrant brit/italian. Enjoyed Lambrettas as a kid, first road bike. Before that it was field bike which folk would donate to our gang to get them out of the way. Most unreliable was a Triton which a mate and I turned two decent bikes into scrap. Scariest was a Laverda Mirage, 1200cc. felt much faster than modern jap bikes - the noise, vibration, power delivery, head shaking handleing. After that, a 1937 BSA M20, really enjoyed that. probably the most fun bike I have ever owned.
