Octavia vRS

I wouldn't dare Dr Z, I'm pretty sure I'd be dragged over the coals for that one!

Come Thursday there will be an abundance on here and t'internet - only a couple of days  :)

That's what I assumed, though I may try a sneaky peak over the fence at my local dealer tomorrow, before heading off to Goodwood for a closer look on Thursday.

  • Can't see that anyone has posted this yet, so though I'd pop it up. New video out today.  I noticed I was the second view.   Have to say, it looks good.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WbzoVrIZ

  • Can you not take this to a new thread. I'm subscribed on here for mkiii vrs updates. Not the age old argument of diesel vs petrol. Christ you'll be slagging off macs and pc's next :(

  • I will never understand those that defend their own car make by slagging other makes off. OK, if you've had a particularly bad experience with a certain car make, tell the story, etc. but don't sugge

Sadly, children are not an acceptable method of deposit due to the ongoing upkeep. Most dealerships will however accept blood, teeth and certain limbs

Yep, it rolled off the transporter last night - black TDI DSG Estate.

So when are you allowed to start using it as a demo vehicle?

Appreciate that it is probably difficult to say but any indication on price?

Grateful for any response, can't believe I am so excited about the launch of a new model, can't wait till Thursday to see it in the flesh at Goodwood.

Is the Mk2/Mk3 leather better than the awful stuff in the Mk1?

Well the Mk2 stuff is pretty cheap stuff and the Yeti is similar imo. Tbh, I didnt exactly think 'premium' leather when Ive sat in the half a dozen mk3 elegances so far! :(

It is the standard interior, leather (may contain some artificial leather  :giggle: ) bolsters and cloth through the middle, ours has a light grey stitching.

Initial look at the seats made me think of the Octy LE seats just with a few more 'bumps' in the trim.

Regarding this (as it's been a bit of a topic of discussion), can you tell us if there's the option of having the folding front passenger seat with the VRS seats? I've heard that you can have it only on regular cloth seats from forum users, but on the Romanian configurator and coming from a dealer here, you can have it with the sports package seats (which are the same as the VRS, only in cloth).

You guys are lucky to have a demo car so soon, back here it's been said that dealers will get one in August/September.

Demo wise, not too sure Jerry, as it's getting unveiled on Thursday I would assume any day after that, although this all down to Skoda, as the official launch is August 1st it could have to wait until then.

Pricing as well will not be released again until Thursday I believe, very secret squirrel  :giggle:

Hmm... I always thought that BBC was a British radio station :p

How hard was that VRS driven if with almost half a tank it only shows a range of 110? :P

Tudor, I really can't be much of a help on the fold flat seat as no spec has been given to us as yet. This should all come clear at Goodwood.

Good noticing! Maybe a software error :)

Weedy rear spoiler on that car in the vid. Think I'd have to take mine off and refit for it to look anything like decent.

I suspect if it has only got delivery mileage on it, so that the trip computer has only calculated over a small splash of fuel, the average mpg will be atrocious. Then when you add some fuel, it calculates the range from total fuel held divided by mpg. If the range is being calculated immediately after first fill (or half a tank as could be the case) it will do so on the average it has calculated so far.

As such on initial fill this can lead to something horrendous and is not something to take as fact.

When I filled the Fabia for the first time after 25 miles I think it said my range was 250 miles for a full tank. I nearly had a heart attack over that.

The spoiler is defo the only thing that lets it down. I would have prefered a subtle boot lip spoiler as with the old mk1 4x4 to that crap curved thing it doesn't even follow the angular theme its like a stuck on after thought. If i buy one and thats a realistic possibility next year i will be replacing the spoiler with something else. Probably the MKII or maybe even from a different make. (Not Subaru before someone says it)

Agree with all that - I filled up with about 60 miles on the odo, and the range showed 420 miles.  By the time I got back from Swansea last night, the Range + Total driven was 700 miles (570+230).  The best Range + Driven I ever saw on the Audi was 820, but then it had a 65 litre tank, not 50.

Range on mine after refilling is around 680 - 700 miles with actual fuel consumption of 62.5 mpg, so you should be knowcking on the dolor of my achieved consumption - be interesting to see what your actual consumption is when you brim it and calculate it out, rather than the computer readout.

I wouldn't expect the VRS to get that fuel consumption, I'm guessing it will be more geared to performance, even the diesel, and the spoilers and wider wheels will add to the drag as well.

Lol the spoiler will add too drag,u don't seem impressed! Maybe ur annoyed u didn't wait for the Vrs :)

I bet the Vrs diesel will be no diff than the standard 150 fuel wise.

Rear spoilers...how about one off a Cossie ?

Ofcourse the spoiler adds to the drag, that's basic physics. :)

Private video? Booooooh!

Well how about the Alfa Romeo one from a decade ago!? :P I can't remember if it was real or aftermarket?

It was part of the spec on the sportier models. IMO it made the car!

Anyone know when it will be available? What sort of lead times do you estimate?

Keen to get a used VRS DSG 2-3 years old so hoping some come through when new one arrives on people's drives.

It was factory fit as it was required to meet homologation rules for competing in touring car racing.

Estimate I received from my local dealer was for deliveries of the estate to start some time in September, however the hatchback will not be available until January/February time :(

I doubted myself, as when I googled a 156 GTA it didn't show any with the big wing! I think Skoda should do another special vRS edition like the WRC, however maybe a land speed record one instead?! ;)

Plenty of time to save for a bigger deposit! I think they both look great. They'd better have fully specced ones at Good Wood, in all colours, wheels and interior trim. Take your pick! :P
