I found my Superb: She's called Audrey!

Audrey was washed yesterday morning.

Thn i moved the car to park better (as some of u are aware - just in case Audrey gets bashed again).

Anyway it was a 1min job - not enuff to dry the brakes.

Have enquired in the DETAILING section and it seems no ned to dry brakes after washing.

Anyway, moved off to drive to work this morning...almighty POP!

It was from the rear.

Sounded like the rear brakes were coming unstuck from super-glue!

Does anyone know wot it could be - the POP?

Hope Audrey's ok :-(

  • It's taken me a week to read this thread after my own Superb purchase! I can only say how gutted I am you sold Audrey! It was like a soap opera I didn't want to end. What am I going to do tomorrow?!

  • That's one hell of an aerial on the back there!...

  • It's not an aerial; it's the pole that makes contact with the ceiling grid.

It is the pad sticking to the disc. Very common. Not sure if it's more or less common with electric handbrake, but it certainly happens with manual ones. I park on a level gravel driveway, and there is no danger of my car rolling, so I usually leave the handbrake off.

It only takes a wee bit of moisture in the air for this to happen. I live near the coast - would get it almost every morning if I left the handbrake on - same on my wife's car (a Ford)

Thks for both Breaker Bar / Impact socket!!!

So its normal thn the POP?

No damage?

Wot is it?

I never had tht problem with all the years i owned cars ...

The brake discs will be made of iron. So they will corrode in a wet/humid environment. It is very noticeable if you get the discs wet when washing your alloys, or if it has been a very wet and windy day. Even 30 mins is enough for them to start to corrode, and the rust spots will disappear as you apply the normal foot brake - the pads will just scrape the corrosion away.

All perfectly normal.

Just spotted me saloon boot hinges here....

But, the left pic of the silver screw looks like its not fully screwed in compared with the right side pic screw.....

...anyone know how to get to the screw to screw-in?

Tell them it's quite common to have a mini-bar in a limousine - and there's enough room in the back of a Superb to qualify as a limo!

(In fact, some European countries refer to the twin-door as a limousine) :drunk:

There is a mini-bar in the Superb.

Its called the glove compartment with its own lever to pull to let the cold air in to chill!

Even better if there was a lever in there to pull a pint! Lol

you may be able to tighten it using something like this

Lovely job, Wayne

Now your challenge is to keep it that way, and you're already off to a good start using the two bucket wash method.

I'm sure Chris gave you plenty of advice. A nice car does a lot for your feeling of well-being. Doesn't have to be fancy (all though your one is), but just really clean - always makes me feel good when my cars clean - and can't wait for a shower of rain to see the beading!

by the way Wayne, i think this little cap could provide the answer to the loose screw in the the boot mechanism. just a guess though

Thks Racing Boy!

I ll pop thn sometime and see :-)

 That's epic mate- they did a good job on you too- you only look about 6 now!

I think everyone would be interested to know what the existing imperfections were and what Chris used and how he was able to make your car look like it's brand new. TBH the colour really suits the Superb.

Nice one

She looks amazing now, excellent job. Were they able to do anything for that big scuff you had on the roof?
