Or is the piggyback fuse designed so it will not work unless both fuses are in and the 5 amp being first it will go first and not damage anything from the original fuse tap. ?

I have bought and installed 10 to date. In all cases for me I have removed the fuse from fusebox I intend to use and test it in both positions each time, it has only worked when in 1 position and not the other, when second fuse is in for camera or whatever has been installed removing the original fuse again kills it and the additionally fitted item still works.

  • The ones I got the one closest to fuse box is the new fuse, I cant see it making a difference as its just an in line fuse essentially for which way to put it in but my ones the fuses point towards

I would suggest anyone who has installed a blade fuse adaptor (piggyback adaptor) double checks which fuse position is which, if they have used 2 different ampage of fuse, just to be sure.

Big thanks to Fubar for this guide. I have never attempted any kind of auto electrical jobs but have just successfully done this.

I've gone and done 6 different cars with the help from Fubar!

Anyone tried this installation using a USB DC step down transformer, i.e. fuse piggy-back > USB DC converter > charger cable > Dashcam? I don't have a 12v cigarrete socket jobby that Fubar and others already had to hand, so if I need to buy some bits and pieces, I was thinking it might be more convenient to buy one of these:

I have looked at those and would rather have used them for the cameras but I have had lots of cameras and while my current one is powered by a USB cable, I am affraid that if I installed that and my next one wasn't I would end up having to replace it :( So I just had stuck with my multi 12v adapters and a double 3.1amp usb flush adapter in each.

I used something similar for mine and fitted it flush to a hole in the glovebox, wiring it into the fusebox. Keeps things very tidy. Also useful for charging a phone.

Hmmmm, feeling indecisive. They're only a couple of quid each, I reckon I'll buy both a USB DC transformer and a female cigarette socket from eBay and make my mind up once I've looked them over in the flesh, as it were.

What kind of battery life do Mobius owners get from a full charge, recording 1080p mode?

Mine is always plugged in so can't properly comment but I think its several hours. Try one of these for a flush fit:

Also not much to shell out if you don't like it and given me no issues for last few months.

Adam

Yeah I came across those, neat solution to mount to a surface.

Mobius is running on battery and I noticed it only captured 35 mins of this morning's commute before turning off. I thought the charge was complete but perhaps I'm mistaken, will double-check that by charging overnight from a wall socket. Obviously not a problem once it's hardwired, just hoping it's incomplete-charge-related and not randomly-turning-off-related!

Fingers crossed!! I was told by the supplier needs a full mains charge at the outset...

Need to take mine out and fit in a different car - any idea where to get the 3M sticky pads  from?

I have had front and rear mobius installed in the Octy vRS, then MG ZT+, then 530D and now moved the lot AGAIN to the Mk1 Octy. I just buy new self adhesive mounts each time as they are so cheap.

£1.05 each delivered, can't go far wrong!

This is who I use for the mounts only.

That's bloody expensive! I have loads of rolls in different widths and thickness's, never paid that much. The self adhesive mounts if this is for Mobius, you'd be taking a gamble on getting them off without breaking something and then have to clean the mess off windscreen. My cars sold with them still attached bar last one where I made the effort :o Broke one and was afraid for window breaking lol. Not used foam on mine stuck with the 3M gell type like you get on the actual mounts.

Would I be right in thinking the above is smaller than the suction so would hold the camera further up, less in view?

Yes it's slightly smaller and less intrusive (I bought both initially to compare).

Also using a connector like this might help with fitment to get up further behind rear view mirror without normal cable hitting back of mirror.  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400543663916?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649

Thanks fella, will get the new sticky one bought. Planning on keeping the Octy for a long time so don't mind it being stuck

They can be removed safely, just as I didn't have time to do so with 2 of the cars before selling, I left them in :D I bought 4 a month ago just in case I change again!

And I recommend getting two of the little adpators as the cable can then come in from above and to the side of the camera and bend round the 180 degrees to the back of the camera.  Its tighter and hence more tidy than just the 90 degree bend from the side.

I should have looked in the box it came in.  :|   Anyway removed and installed in my new O3 SE.  The O2 is a much easier install ;)

Hi all, got all the bits together to do this mod but unsure which wire in the adapter lead is the positive, there is some white writing on one of the two cables but nothing else, any ideas?
