I reported my wrinkly seat problem back in April, and have finally had the go - ahead from Skoda to have the problem looked at. The dealer said that Skoda knew of one other occurence, and that this forum is not official evidence. Maybe not, but you can only stick your head in the sand for so long !

This sort of dealership behaviour / official line seems to have spread from Seat to the other memebers of the VAG group. Poor show, i would encourage people to email Skoda UK repeatedly. I had to resort ot the same measueres with Seat on a warrenty issue.

Personally - i'm goingfor a leather retrim as soon as i can afford it as the seat already look scruffy, marked and thin. Any reccomendations for a retrim agent?

Well here we go again  - Took my Furby vRS into the dealers for its 40K service and asked them to look at my seat again as the bobbles are back - i'm on my 3rd re-cover now. Car bought new 01/03/2005.

Just had a call from Skoda Customer Service to say they will not replace under warranty again. The guy "Tony" spoke to my wife and apparently was a right little ****.

When I got home I rang his manager - Tracy - no reason given for turning down my claim other than they have already done it before and it must be me doing something wrong as a cloth problems on the seats is not a known problem. As you can guess I am fuming. This thread alone proves them wrong. My wife did mention that they should take a look but Tony said under no circumstances would he do so as it is an unofficial site and means nothing.

Apparently I can appeal to SMMT and I will and write to every car mag in the land and newspaper etc.. I can think of.

Quick thought - Could anyone who has had this problem and engaged with Skoda on it, please add your name to a list below. So I may quote a number of times Skoda have been told about this problem in the past by Briskoda members alone.

Thanks guys & gals

I'll gladly add my name to any list, question is, where is it? :)

From painful experience speaking to the SMMT for my MINI pulaver, is useless. You are talking here about a motoring manufacturer sponsored organisation that will always side with the manufacturer; despite what they say and you might prefer to believe. It's a waste of a stamp unfortunately. I'd suggest sending a letter to a magazine, that I'd recommend and gladly back you up on, if you need my input.

Try Auto Express.

mine is fuzzing on the right side suport where I rub when getting in and out (unintentionally , I'm not that wierd :) ) It fuzzed up on my clio aswell as it had big side supports similar to the Fab VRS.

my VRS is only nearly 2 mnth old. may get it leathered for my bday!

And so the fuzzing begins!

Noticed it last week on passenger seat and upon further inspection the seat is pretty much a fuzzy mess, fuzzy on the base and the back, like most other people its where you get in and out, priced up replacing the base material at 45 quid and the back for 85.

I'm not going to push the base with skoda as my other half has plucked the base three times with her rings over the past year:mad:

Funny as the drivers seat is spotless!!

I think in all honesty its caused from the lad at work who i go on lunch with, being 6ft 5 and about 22 stone i imagine he rubs the seat up the wrong way getting in and out, never mind though.

Denial, in the face of blatant and overwhelming evidence only serves to make the dealerships look cheap and dishonest. I would have much more respect for a manufacturer who put their hand up and admitted that they had made an error. There is no point in re-trimming with the same material if keeping the car - it'll only bobble again. My car is only a 55 plate and the material is thin, bobbled and marked - despite treating the fabric. Poor show Skoda.

Well done Dazza for putting in the efford to push this further. A letter to the MD of Skoda UK may be due? With a copy of this thread inclosed. ******** to the official line - they do take notice of forums because forums represent publicity.

They patently do not.

How hard are people actually pushing Skoda to get a resolution to the problem? It seems the most you can get out of them is new seat covers....

To date from what I can digest the firm have rejected claims that there is a problem.

The next logical step from a consumers point of view is to have an independant engineer/specialist examine a few vehicles and identify findings in a report.

Skoda cannot deny evidence if it is presented officially.

As long as folks accept replacement seat covers and their generic responses a resolution may never be met.

That is a great idea' date=' but wouldn't it cost money to do that? Wouldn't the independant engineer/specialist have to analyse each vehicle to establish a pattern? You are correct though, that is the only [b']real[/b] solution to all this., otherwise by the time they pull their finger out, the Fabia Mk2 will be out :)

I'd be more than happy to participate.

Well this is it. An independent engineer would cost money but if a few people club together they could spread the cost. Obviously you want a few vehicles examined so it would be a fair assessment of the damage/fault.

I would bet your bottom dollar that Skoda have, if not already, planned to change the ergonomics/material of the next seats.:o

Sound like we need a leader to run with the issue if an agreement on a way forward is reached.....;)

My car is just about to exceed it's warranty mileage of 60,000, so I can't be of much use in that capacity unfotrunately.

Any takers?

the one i saw was amazing - colour coded with red stiching and green lines - no hint of fluff or sagg. i would go as far to say that it exuded quality. i have been to a few places to get quotes, and even the ones on recommendation, although cheaper, didn't come close to the dealership one i saw. different source?

I've been back to the dealers twice to sit in the seats and try to persuade the GF that a retrim is esstential. She needs to contribute as she spilt spring water all over the back bench and its got horrid yellow lines and patches all over it. what sort of material is stained by bottled water!?

I have had mine replaced twice already - as you see above refused a third time - Car registered 01/03/05. I suggest you try anyother dealer - Mine Bickerton's of Sheffield have been great and supportive. Only the Pratts at Customer Service who are being stupid.

My 05 has 8.5K on the clock and the drivers seat is starting to look a bit 'fuzzy' in places (particularly the light coloured areas). Might take it up with the dealer on it's next service, or if intend to keep the car for a few years I'll get a leather retrim (not that I should have too!).
