Coding / Adaptation Help required

I'll give you a tip - there is a file created in your c:\ross-tech\vcds\debug folder called coding.log

This is a record of every change you have ever made.

Start at the end and reverse every single change until you have it back to factory then start again SLOWLY and making sure you don't miss any steps.

Thanks Andy,

I got my mirror dip to work!

So if I try going through adaptions again, it wouldn't work?

I should reverse what I've done then do again?

Have you got a baseline of the car before you started (full scan and adaptation maps)?

If not, trying to unpick things when you don't know what you have actually changed can be next to impossible, unless you understand the impact of the changes you are making.

I'm still learning on the MQB platform after 18 months!

When you code something and it doesn't work as expected then reverse those changes before changing anything else.

By baseline I meant do you have a full set of data as the car was before it started - so a saved scan and a saved adaptation map for any controllers you have been playing with the adaptation channels, usually 09 and 5F is all you need as they have by far the most settings and also the areas where you can do the most damage.

Just by looking at that I can see what I did wrong on this line for the intermittent DRL/indicator cflash

Should be

(16)Leuchte3SL VRB21-Lichtfunktion G 3 auf "not active" to "Blinken rechts Hellphase"

I did

(16)-Leuchte3SL VRB21-Lichtfunktion G 3) from not active  to Blinken links Hellphase

And here for the fog cornering

Should be

(5)-Leuchte13NL RB5-Lichtfunktion B 13 to Abbiegelicht rechts

I did

(12)-Leuchte13NL RB5-Lichtfunktion E 13) from not active  to Abbiegelicht rechts

I must say that I admire your bravery. Doing all these adaptation randomly and not knowing exactly what you are doing.

Though, maybe this is something else, not courage.

I'm struggling to find this bit on HBA:

Access Module A5
Go to Long Coding, change byte 2 Bit 0 to a "1" or use drop down menu to select "Coding_light_assist High_beam_assist"

Do I need to do this?

Then I've done this,

But struggle with this

Where access module A5?

However I see on VCDS that you can search the module in the lower left hand side, as I can't find A5 on any of the tabs, electronic 1/2 etc

Also, Reversed the HBA and sign recognition last night. This morning my cornering fogs have started working when yesterday they weren't working?!

So when I get home next week, I'll have another play.

If you do an autoscan of your car you should see module A5 which is the lane assist camera.

You just select it to code the same as any other module, it is probably the next to last module on the 'Installed' tab, which is the default view.

Your coding on A5 is incorrect.

TBH It is documented perfectly clearly, if you can't follow instructions and don't know the impact of what you are changing I would stop right now if I were you before you do something that is irreversible.

Why have you changed on A5:

Byte 2 from 01 to 02

Byte 3 from 00 to 01 - Byte 3 has nothing to do with HBA

Try changing the coding on A5 back to

0100010001030300000400000000010100 assuming you don't want traffic sign recognition active

Your changes on 09 look correct.

Make sure your lights are turned to off when you are making the changes.

I'm not sure why that has happened.

This is what I get following the instructions (screen shots on my VCDS)

Access Module 09 - enter security code 31347

Go to (2) Assistant light functions - Menu light assistant and change to 'PRESENT'

image1.jpg

Access Module A5

Go to Long Coding, change byte 2 Bit 0 to a "1" or use drop down menu to select "Coding_light_assist High_beam_assist"

image2.jpg

Damn just realised you need to check the coding of the 09 CCM as well BYTE 2 bit 0-2, if doesn't have light assist selected then you will need to do so. I've set mine to come on at 10lx in the A5 adaptations and it seems to work much better!

image3.jpg

But reading the earlier bit of the thread, it appears that vrsalan struggled possibly with the same problem I have (step 2). As per my 3 screen grabs above, my coding doesn't look like this one below?

Thanks in advance for help (and patience) with me!

On A5 why have you set Byte 2 Bit 0 to 02 - it needs to be 01 as per the instructions???

Your BCM (09) needs Byte 2 to have 03 set as the value across bits 0-2 - so the binary needs to read xxxxx011

Get a screenshot of how yours is coded for Byte 2 on A5 and 09 and then maybe we can work out what you have done.

Yes to both, Turned lights off before doing this. Yes the HBA is showing in the infotainment, I have ticked and unticked. Still get the error. Sent another PM

Dipped beams automatically switch on 140km/h iirc. Would it possible to lower this speed?

The only reference to 140 that could be connected to this is this one:

(7)-Characteristic curve-y1_0,0  (8)-Characteristic curve-y1_1,40  (9)-Characteristic curve-y1_2,90  (10)-Characteristic curve-y1_3,140  (11)-Characteristic curve-y1_4,190  (12)-Characteristic curve-y1_5,245

Also other numbers around it could be speeds, so maybe this is it. Though, maybe could someone else give a thought about this...
