And don't employ me to do it  most mechanics won't touch your conversion idea in all honesty it'd be a tuner like Jabbasport if you were to pay to get it done and it would be expensive plus BossFox normally keeps them pretty sorted for work.

i didnt consider the the manifold, mounts and such the likes. so i just thought it was going to be a straight engine swap meaning any old garage could have done that. But as i know now thats not really possible :/

  • Ah the voice of reason has arrived.             Oh, hang on a minute...

  • Ummm, why not simply whip the head off and replace the head gasket? Reads like someone's had the dial turned up to 11 and broken it, stripped his mods off and traded it.

  • you reckon he'll fit Nankangs cos he ran out of money?

but, but i want it bigger, better, faster and stronger :(

If you are paying, you'll be needing deep pockets.

Take it from someone that is prone to the odd idea... Better to fix your (or put in another) PD130 and tune that.

Or sell it and get a faster car.

If you are paying for garage time the whole thing will probably cost thousands, at the minimum.

It'll cost more than the car is worth in great condition anyway... And you'll still have "just" a PD150 so will have to spend thousands more tuning it to be better than a PD130 with a few choice mods including a turbo.

How deep are your pockets?

like i said to toxic i didnt consider the manifold and mounts (as i dont really know much but would like to learn) so now it already looks like my plan is foiled :(

A PD130 with a remap would see off a PD150 so there's not going to be any real gains by fitting it especially as the later PD130s were nearer to 150 BHP so do the sane thing which oddly enough is being suggested by a nutter

yeah but he's not a 'proper nutter'. For instance; he wouldn't let me drive the Yeti round Combe :(

this is why i need help haha, so all in all, i would be far better off getting a 130, buy a 150 turbo?

I said nutter, doesn't mean he's not got common sense :finger:

Get a 130 and if you want more power a remap takes to 170ish then turbo takes it further but you need to update other parts too

the penny's dropped :D

I have learnt there are two ways most likely to succeed in more unusual projects.

1. Have the skills to do a fair amount of the work yourself.

2. Be daft enough to spend far more than the vehicle is worth.

At the end of the day, for most of us the most sensible option is to do tried and tested tuning, or if that's not enough oooomph buy a better base car before you even get started.

oh, :wait: you'll need a panel filter or a cone in a box for another 50 bhp :)

Yes, with a few other mods a hybrid PD150 turbo will give you around 200bhp and plenty of torque.

well, i bought the car very cheap seeing as the engine was a goner from day one so im not going to out value the car anytime soon just by getting a remap, engine and turbo :)

is this a fabia vrs?

is this a fabia vrs?

Yes it was the spec from a 2005 PD130 Fabia vRS

If you are paying to have an engine put in, a turbo put on and a custom map for the new turbo don't expect much change out of £2,000.

An upgraded clutch is probably a good idea while the engine and gearbox are split and an exhaust and intercooler wouldn't be a bad idea either.

With labour you could be looking at a bill from £3,000 to £4,000, before you start to look at handling or brakes as the new power level will make stock brakes a liability. It'll need a rear ARB too.

To do a PD130 car right and pay for it all I wouldn't expect much change out of £5,000.

And at 18 the insurance for you will be astronomical! I know I've looked at it :(
